HI Lucy, I saw your message on the meade Message board. Sure hope you can help me. Our family had photos of the general in their home and believe related. However there is no one left to confirm. Believe the general is Great grandfather or Great-Great.
All we know is Our grandmother was Edna Mead/meade born 2/9/1886 in Philadelphia. She married John robert Ray. Her parents were Lucien/glen Mead born in1852 and married to Ida E (Francis) Paine and lived in Burlington Vt. You mentioned that you have axcess to a list of the Generals children and grandchildren. Could you please advise. I am new at this searching and would greatly appreciate any help.

Hi There, My great grandmother has kept an orginal obit of Spencer Meade, son of George Gordon Meade, and a picture from the article. He must have been a family friend from Elmira NY where the article is taken from. Spencer passed in Philadelphia arond turn of century. He was born to the Meades in 1850 in Philadelphia.
Quite an extensive obit listing his accomplishments. Will be happy to share.

my records indicate that one of my ancestors, Eli Meade was married to Pricilla Akers in 1811 in Floyd Co., KY.

I am also looking for any information reguarding General Meade. I had married into a family that are direct decendents of him and now that my daughter and grandchildren are also descendents I am wanting to be able to share more with them of their lineage.
