Hi there, I am trying to bridge a gap in our family history and am hoping someone can help. My Great great grandfather was William Joseph
Meade, who was transported to Australia in 1836 at the age of 16. He was sentenced in the
Dublin City
Court on the 19th of July 1836 then placed in imprisonment on the
Hulk Essex. On 27th August 1836 he sailed for Australia on the Earl
Grey.
According to William's marriage certificate his parents were Patrick and Ellen
Meade (nee
Stack). William was born in
Dublin and his father's occupation is listed as labourer. However, due to the lack of online records, we can't bridge the gap back to Ireland to find more information. Can anybody help?
Thank You,
Gordon
Meade
