Does my information match yours?
I have very little information on Henry Mehl, the family lost track of him after he moved to California.
He stayed down there when the majority of the family came back to Oregon.
I do have 2 family pictures with Henry in them, one is right before they came to America (Henry was about 2 years old) & the other is during his sister's funeral in Dallas Oregon(He would have been just shy of his 20th birthday).

FOSTER CITY, CA: Mary Jane Mehl Hansen died peacefully on May 6, 2011 surrounded by family.

She was born in Bucyrus, Ohio on February 9, 1921.

She moved from Ohio to California in 1960.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John N. Hansen. Mary enjoyed working crossword puzzles, painting, was a avid reader, loved her automobiles, a savvy investor and was a member of the California Golf Club.

She is survived by her daughters, Joycee Kelly, Deborah (Dr. Michael Stekoll) Hansen, Diann (Tommy) Johnston, Denise Crawford; son, John (Marilyn) Hansen Jr.; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on May 13, 2011, 1 p.m. at the Sneider & Sullivan, O'Connell's Funeral Home, 977 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Mills-Peninsula Hospital Foundation or Stanford Hospital.

Born 05 Jun 1901 Mieralne, Kuban, South Russia (Prussia now Poland)

Immigrated from Bremen Germany in 1902 moved to Oklahoma then stopped in Idaho, moved to Oregon then upon the death of the father & sister Martha moved to California (Some of the family moved back to Oregon)

Died 22 Jun 1952 San Francisco California

His father was Jakob Mehl and mother was Maria (Mary) Ann Buschmann (Bushman) who died 25 Aug 1949 in San Francisco, California.
Henry's Wife was Freda ?

Henry was my Grandfather's brother.

Any information would be appreciated.

So sorry it has taken this long to get back to you. I don't know of a connection between the two Johann/Johan Mehl's. They both lived in the same area of WI.They were possibly related.If I find more info, I will post back to you.

Mala Mehl Izbicki was my great aunt who lived in Lugano, Switzerland.
The middle name of her brother, David Mehl (deceased) was Wolf and he lived most of his adult life in Mexico City where he taught quantum physics and electrical engineering at the university. He was my maternal grandfather. His only child is my mother: Judith Rinelda Mehl-Klein who currently resides in Mexico with my father. If anyone is interested in updating the Mehl family tree here, I will be happy to look up Great Uncle Max's middle name, his date of death and his son's name.

William E. Mehl, a lifelong Erie resident, went home to the Lord on February 7, 2010. He was born on May 20, 1924, the son of Dr. Carl L. Mehl and Elizabeth Johnson Mehl. He graduated from Strong Vincent High School in the February class of 1942, and enjoyed a monthly luncheon with several classmates until his death. He attended Duke University until enlisting in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He served as an Aviation Radioman, Third Class, in the Fleet Airway 8, Hedron, Patrol Bombing Squadron 100 and 19, and was deployed in the South Pacific Theater where he received 1 Battle Star. He also received the WWII Victory Medal. On August 13, 1947, Bill married Marilyn Randall Mehl. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Sandra "Sam" Hammon and Barbara Grossett, as well as four grandchildren; Christopher Hammon, Jeffrey Grossett, Sarah Grossett, and Nick Hammon. He is also mourned by Sandra's husband, Andy, and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Hammon and Brittney Haefner. Bill was the proprietor of Lake Erie Printing Company until his retirement. In recent years, he enjoyed working part-time at Habitat For Humanity, the City Mission, and Hospice, where he acquired many valued friends. He was a longtime member of Lake Shore Country Club, and an avid golfer until his death. He was also a model train enthusiast, and his extensive layout became a wonderful project for all the family to share. A private service will be held at the Chapel in the Erie Cemetery, followed by internment in the Mehl family mausoleum. My great grandfather Michael Reeb oldest sister
Anna Catharina REEB1 was born on 13 Jun 1800. She died before 1860 at the age of 60. May have died in 1876 Catherine Reeb Mehl may have immigrated to the USA in 1841 . Michael and she might have settled in Darrtown, Butler County Ohio. Her brother Michael Reeb bought their farm land in 1877. According to the deed a Mary and George B Bender and a Louisa Wart were the heirs and sold the land to Michael Reeb after Michael Mehl death in 1876.

Anna Catharina REEB and Michael MEHL were married on 20 Dec 1821 in Bosselhausen, Bas Rhin, France. Michael MEHL was born in 1800 in Strausbourg France Later Germany. He died in Nov 1858 at the age of 58. Occupation farmer Milford Twp and Fairfield Twp.

Michael Mehl's will for him says he died in 1858. The will states that his wife was Catherine and he had children: Andrew, Charles, Michael, George, Jacob, and John. His son, Michael, was named executor of his will. His will was dated 14 April 1848 and the widow brought the will to the probate court on 16 Nov 1858. There is no official death record.

i. Michael MEHL, born 1825, France; married Louisa LEIBRICH (LEVERICK), abt 1852; died abt 1861.2ii. George MEHL, born 1827, France; married Mrs. Mary A MEHL, abt 1854; died bef 1900.

I would like to know who Michael Mehl's parents were. I believe he immigrated to the US to Ohio around 1840 or 1841.

Michael Mehl married Anna catherina Reeb in 1821.They immigrated from France to USA and settle in Butler County Ohio around 1840 or so. Michael Mehl and Catherina lived in Milford twp for awhile . Catherina is the oldest sister to my great grandfather Michael Reeb who came to the usa in 1854. Later he bought the farm of Michael Mehl from his relatives.

jacob was one of his sons.

I think Katherina is my wife, Christine's great grandmother.Her cousin has researched and found that Katharina had a son Thomas in 1894 who was listed on the 1901 census as a boarder with Charles Bibby and possibly adopted. Thomas married Dorothy Mead in 1917 and their son Charles Bibby is my wife's late father. Its known that Katherina married Ernst Mehl in 1905 and emigrated to USA in 1906. Any info you have about Katharina's place of birth and parents would be welcome.

I'm trying to search for a Katharina Benzinger. She Appears in the UK census of 1901 as a servant born in Germany, giving her birth date as abt 1874. She married Ernst Georg Mehl 29 July 1905 and I believe they had a son John Frederick Mehl late 1905 or early 1906. On there marriage certificate Katharina's father is listed as Johann and Ernst's is Frederick Deceased. I believe they left the UK, they don't appear in the 1911 census. I wonder if anyone could help me find out more about her. Thanks very much

I am researching that same area of the Opel family as My Grandma was an Opel, her Dad was Louis Opel, and I search the 1900 census records that makes it all the more confusing as it shows Christ and Johanna Opel with children of William, Fred, Minnie, and Louise. My Grandma said she had an Uncle Bill and Fred and she also had an Aunt Minnie. This is throwing me for a loop. Do you have any information on that part of the Opel family? Your Johan Mehl is Johann Baptist Mehl. I am related to Johan George Mehl. He came to Germantown (Goldendale/Boniface). He married Catharina Krebs. They both came on the Ship Susan in 1840. I am curious if you know of any connection. Thank you.

I live in Alsace in France.
I can tell you that in the 19è century 80% of MEHL lived in a little area in the north of Alsace called "HANAU"
At this time there are 20 very little villages between,HAGUENAU,HOCHFELDEN,SAVERNE and BOUXWILLER.
The first MEHL informations were in the village called ISSENHEIM near BOUXWILLER.
All of this villages have civils informations (like birth, death,or mariages from this day to the french revolution of 1789.
