I was adopted at a young age. I've known my last name used to be Melchor and my father was from Mexico. I was born in Washington State, he had 3 children, all boys. If anyone knows anything about this. Please email me at joseph2622@hotmail.com thanks!

I had a grandfather named Tomas Melchor. I am not sure if it is the same person. I don't know much about him. He had a son Antonio M. Melchor with Mercedes Munoz. Hope that helps. If it does please let me know so we may follow this family line together. If not, I wish you luck.

Thanks for the reply. The Catholic Church in Randegg, Germany, thought the name may have been a version of Malchior and that my great great grndmother may have been Jewish---lol. She did have black hair and very dark eyes---she could have possibly been Jewish. However there are marriage records for her there----she married a Handloser---there three boys have communion and confirmation records there but then all records end with them----they must have immigrated soon after.

I believe the Melchor surname has many different manifestations like Melcher, Melchior, Melchore, etc. As for Melchor I for some reason, was looking for a connection, to Spain, but for some reason Germany kept turning up more and more. Especially Bavaria, the next connection is North Carolina. There seems to be a concentration of Melchor's there too. As for my particular strain...I haven't quite made the connection on how it wound up in Mexico! Hope this helps some. I've sort of hit a road block so far.

my father came to california with this last name but changed it to his mothers maiden name which was lopez... my mother never new that so my last name is lopez but should me melchor.. i didnt know my father.... the first time i met him was at his funeral... i was wondering if i had any brothers or sisters... his name was Rafael Melchor ( lopez) from oaxaca mexico.... if that helps at all......

I have come across the maiden name of my great great grandmother which is Malchor. Could this just be a different spelling of Melchor? My great great grandmother married a German, and they lived in Randegg, Baden, Germany about 4 km from the Swiss border. I do not think Malchor is a German name. Do you have any knowledge or information on a Martin M. Melchor born in Cabarrus County NC. Son of Jacob Melchor, who was the son of Henry Melchor.

I have him documented thru 1860, and next time I find him is in Limestone County Texas in 1900. I know he died in 1909.
I would like to know where he was from 1860 thru 1900 if you know anything.
