I have Alfred Halstread Mellor married Sarah Elizabeth Summersgill at St. Pauls, Blackburn in 1902. Alfred's parents were James Mellor 1841-1916 and Ellen Halstead, 1845-1925 his parents William Mellor 1797 and Alice Simpson1799 and his parents were John Mellor 1770-1861 my grgrgrgr grandfather married Mary 1770

Travis Mellor of McDonough County was my husbands ggggrandfather. He was married at least 3 times, and all the wives were named Mary. One was called Polly. I have some information on him, and one picture that I was told is the gentleman. His civil war records are on file, I have copies of those also.

I am looking for help. I am trying to identify if Mellor is my original surname. I have taken the DNA test and I am a member of the E1b1b1b Haplogroup. Does anyone know of a male Mellor with a direct line to Derbyshire(Peak District) or there abouts that has taken the DNA test. If anyone knows of someone who is a male Mellor with a strong paper trail to Derbyshire and is willing to take the Y-DNA test on FTDNA.com, please let me know. Mellor/Bonsall connection

I am trying to identify any connection between the Bonsalls and the Mellors in Derbyshire pre-1800. I found one marriage between George Mellor and Elizabeth Bonsall, but there would need to be an illegitimate son for it to fit my research. Illegitimate sons are great for me. I am trying to identify a surname change. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Thank you very much for all the info, I had found a few of the names but I also found William E Mellor 1864 married
Anna Thorpe in 1906, he was born on the same day as William 1832 in Missori and also had a son William H Mellor, they were divorced, I can not find a Susan Baird but will carry on searching.

Thanks for the reply.

I know they are connected to the Moss family, Cellia the oldest of William's children married Albert B Moss and I have found out that they had 8 children, I am going to try and research the Moss family from there if I can, I also want to find out if there are any more Mellor's still living.

It looks like they are connected to the Moss family, and there are descendants of that line. I have researched the Moss family, and do have some information on file.

Hi, I am looking for anyone who may be a relative of William
Higginson Mellor he was my gr gr gr uncle,my gr gr gr gr
grandad John Mellor (1770-1861) laid the foundation stone
at the Clayton Street Chapel Blackburn, on christmas day when he was
90 years old, and was a Wesleyan Sabbath shcool teacher for many years, his son was Robert Collinson Mellor (1810-1878)
which was William H Mellor's father.
I have been looking for William for a few years and have only just found out that we went to USA when he was 24 years old.
My sister and I still live in Blackburn, Lancs, and we would love to hear from any relatives that we may have.

Among the many Doctor Who people I'm researching is the actor James Mellor (The Wheel in Space/The Mutants) who died on 28 January 1976. On this site, I have discovered three people with this name who died within the March 1976 quarter:

James Arthur Mellor: 4 February 1933 – Huddersfield, Yorkshire (d. Lambeth, London)
James Frederick C. Mellor: 30 November 1913 (d. Surrey)
James Edward H. Mellor: 10 August 1920 (d. Sheffield)
I'm leaning towards the last one as the death district is London, where a lot of actors at the time died.

Anyone know for certain which one it is?

Hi All,
Can you help me please with the Kidds of Longnor? Starting with Dinah Beresford b. 1796 who married Samule Kidd b. 1796. They lived at brownspit farm Longnor and went on to have Alderman Berresford Kidd-date a bit confusing on LDS but states 1816.
I cannot find Dinah's parentage but there may be a connection with Alton.

I know it's going back a bit from your post but I was wondering if you could perhaps help me.

Following my research I understand that Solomon Mellor was my Great Great Great Grandfather. I herald from his son Joseph's side. I have seen evidence of Solomon's marriage to Margaret at Stafford Records Office but I haven't seen a birth certificate for Solomon to establish parentage. I have visited Alstonefield Church at the weekend and could not find the gravestone for Josiah, although there are a number that were very weathered.

I was wondering how you have discovered that Josiah is likely to be Solomons father and that possibly George was his grandfather?

Any help you could provide would be very much appreciated.

There were many Thomas Mellors born in 1819. I think yours was probably the one who was christened on 16 May 1819 at
Kirkburton, son of William & Anne Mellor. He was living at
Ecclesfield in the 1841 census, his age in the 1816-21 bracket. Ruth may have been christened at Silkstone on 29 Feb 1824, dau of Samuel & Lydia Fearn. In 1841 she was aged 17 and living at Ecclesfield. Their marriage was registered in Ecclesfield registration district in the 3rd qtr of 1843. The GRO index records his name as Mellard and hers as Fearon but I suspect these were mis-readings of the original register. Caution: The 1841 census entry should be checked and I am only saying that the foregoing is possibly data relevant to your search. Hope it is.

Hello,

One of my ancestors Thomas Mellor was born 2 May 1819, in 1850 his wife (Ruth Fearn) died giving birth to his son and he emigrated to America leaving his two children behind to be looked after by their aunt.

The only record I have is that on 10 Sept 1860 he was naturalized in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. His address was given as Spencer. Certificate no. Vol. 4 - 99 - ref M460. On this record however his name was Miller rather than Mellor.

I can't find any info on when he got there as I cannot access outgoing UK passenger lists or incoming US lists. Presumably he arrived in Boston.

Is there anyone who could help me find any information about him please?

Our family came to USA in 1855 after joining the LDS Church. Since the whole family came I do not information for Mellors after that time in England.

I see Clark Mellor, birth regd Mar qtr 1933, Hayfield RD, son of William Mellor & Lillie Lomas whose marriage was regd Dec qtr 1932, Hayfield RD. Lillie's birth was regd June qtr 1912, Hayfield RD, dau of William Lomas & Ellen
Higginbottom whose marriage was regd Sept qtr 1902, Hayfield RD. Cannot see which of several William Mellors at Hayfield was the father of Clark. Hope this helps.

I don't have a Clark Mellor in my tree but I do have the Sparrowpit joiners mainly Thomases Johns and Francis. My tree is on Ancestry with Francis Mellor b. 1765 and his son Francis b. 1809, tree is called DOORBAR/GARROD. If you think you're linked it's probably a line i don't have yet. I'd be interested to know if you think we link up.

im looking for information on George mellor?
im not 100 percent sure if his name was George but my mum said she was positive it was.

i don't have a birth date or a death date or whom his wife was.

he did have a child/children

Frances Sarah Mellor born 25th December 1907 she passed away from breast cancer in 1985.

Frances was married to Thomas rogers and had 3 children
Brian, Conrad and Eileen. Eileen was born 6th June 1935 she passed away 6 years ago from leukemia. Frances and Thomas and children also lived on kidlington street oxfordshire.

so if anyone has any info of Frances and her father George Mellor i appreciate it :)

My grandfather was Robert Mellor who lived in Stoke-on-Trent. My grandmother was Mary Ellen (Nellie) Robinson.
They had 6 children who were born in England and 2 who were born in Ohio. My mother was Avon Nellie Mellor Ingram.
My grandfather was a bricklayer.

Robert Mellor was my grandfather in Alliance Ohio. He and my grandmother, Mary Ellen (Nellie Robinson) had 8 children.
2 were Robert and Albert. My mother was Avon.

I too am researching the Mellors of Chapel en le Frith, particularly those who followed the joinery trade and lived in Sparrowpit, a hamlet of Chapel. I've got to a Francis of 1765 who had a son Francis 1810 (although there may be a generation in between of course). Would love to contact others researching any Derbyshire Mellors whio may be linked.

Hi, that's great thanks. I was trying to tie in a few pieces of informtaion.

I have Selina on the tree and found her marriage to James Mellor in 1877. It appears they must have known each other for some time (not difficult in a small village like Meebrook) as in 1871 Selina was a Domestic servant for John Brown at Wetwood James Mellor was also a servant there.
There is no mention of the couple on the 1881 census nor death records hence my assumption that they had emmigrated, also in a letter written in 1882 by my GGGrandfather to his brother who had emmigrated to New Zealand he mentions that 'James Mellor is over and is taking a wife back'.

Would love to know more about your line.
