Hello Mr. Bessette, I am wondering if can provide me with information on the burials of Hypolite and Jean Francois being in Menard Cemetery at Ft. Kaskaskia? I have documented the whole cemetery for FindaGrave.com as I live nearby. I did not locate their graves, however, I do remember "vaults" that were once there that have disappeared over time. Perhaps that was their resting place? Thanks, David

I know that Gertrude married Anatole "Nat" Calamia. Gertrude and Anatole had five children:

Years ago, when we thought we were descended from this Pierre Menard, I did some research at a local library and found that the Pierre who was first lt. gov. of Illinois had also gone up the Missouri River with Manuel Lisa, that he was a friend of Kit Carson and George Washington, and that he was a friend in court to many native Americans. It seems that I also found a portrait of him, possibly in some book of the history of early Illinois. The house in Kaskaskia is open as a historic site, they may have more information.

I have researched Gabriel's brother, Pierre. Gabriel's death certificate states that he was born at Grand Brule. St-Benoit, QC was known as Grand Brule.
I have all BMS of his brothers and sisters. Joseph Menard's family came to Ottawa (Bytown) before 1840 and later moved on to Renfrew county, where many of their descendants are still living there.

Gabriel MENARD was born at Grand-Brule (St-Benoit, QC) July 28, 1817 & Bapt. at Ste-Madeleine, Rigaud, QC, Sep 7, 1817. He was the son of Joseph MENARD and Angelique GUILBAULT.

Joseph was the son of Francois-Amable MENARD and Archange BEIQUE-LAFLEUR.

NOTE: Joseph MENARD's marriage to Angelique GUILBAULT at Ste-Madeleine, Rigaud, QC, Jan. 30, 1815, was his second marriage. She was the daughter of Gabriel & Marie Josephte ABITAKITIKOKOUE.
Joseph was first married to Marie Helene CHARLEBOIS, daughter of Louis-Joseph and Marie VIAU. at Oka, QC Feb.5, 1798.
Joseph's third marriage to Suzanne BOYER, daughter of Paul & Genevieve GAUTHIER-SAGUINGORA, at St-Benoit, QC, Oct. 4, 1820.

Joseph's fourth marriage to Ursule LADOUCEUR, daughter of Joseph & Elisabeth ROBIDOUX, Nov. 30, 1837, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Ottawa, ON.

Additional information I have:

Napoleon Menard & Adele Seguin's wedding date is September 2, 1872 in Refrew, Ontario.

I have found Napoleon and Adele's 1901 census information:
Bonfield, Ontario. Since she is not present in the 1911 census, I assume she died between these two dates.

Following my line:
Eugene Menard, son of Napoleon and Adele.
b. Nov 26, 1876 in Alumette, Que
m. April 26, 1897 in Bonfield, Ont.
Date of death unknown.

First wife: Josephine Lalond, b. April 5, 1879. d. September 17, 1917 in Bonfield, Ontario. 1881 census for her and parents: Ottawa, Quebec. 1891 census for her and family: Ferris, Nipissing, Ontario.
both 1901 and 1911 census place the family in Bonfield, Ontario(or area, i.e. Ferris district)

8 Children:
Already posted in an earlier thread. My ancestor of Eugene and Josephine is Anna Menard

Second wife: Alma Guillemette. b. Dec 1891, m. July 14, 1919 in Astorville, Ontario. I have no information about their children.

Anna Menard:
B. August 4, 1901, m. August 28, 1922. d. January 16, 1984. All in Astorville, Ontario.
Husband: Raphael Guillemette(brother of Alma Guillemette)
b. May 9, 1897, d. January 1, 1971.

Raphael and Anna had 14 children of which 7 are still living(my father included).
If you want to know more about Raphael(and Alma's family), I do have a few generation for each of them. Anything else you want to know, please feel free to let me know.

I’m not related to these lines, I’m just trying to link it with eider my mom’s Menard’s line or my husband Menard.

I use to work with 4 Menard in the golf in Vaudreuil, plus 3 members that were Menard, so I start to do there ancestry and I end-up with a lot of Menard info, so now I’m trying to link those that are not link in my data base.

Thank you for posting. I am a decendent of Raphael Guillemette and Anna Menard. I have some conflicting information:

Josephine Lalond: Date of death: September 17, 1917, Source: Bonfield parish book and Archives of Ontario, MS 937.

I do have a source for Eugene and Alma(Sister of Raphael Guillemette)'s wedding on November 16, 1919 at St-Thomas d'Aquin church in Astorville.

Please let me know what line you are from, Eugene and Josephine or Eugene and Alma. As I'm related to both lines, I have lots of data for both.

My Grandfather is William john menard born 12/1927 in Wisconsin.His father was William c menard born in michigan 7/21/1887 married to hattie/victoria he died 9/21/1969 in ark.His Grandfather was Eli menard born in French-Canada 6/1859 came to america in 1880 married an elizabeth in 1881 we think her last name was collard.we think his great grandfather was archie menard but not really sure.His grandmothe only spoke french.

I told archies real name was Hyacinthe and that the came from L`Orignal, Ontario.

Many same names and dates. Very hard to sort out.
I have been looking up my Grandfathers ancestors.
His name was William Miner - changed from Minor.
Born 1900 in Egg Harbor, WI. Father was Joeseph Minor born 1856 and mother was Mary Shampo.
Maybe Joseph was a Menard ?
There is a lot of info on Shampo, but not much on Minor.

Just curious are you related to the Menard/Minor family. There were many people with the same names. If I went by every census record for my one relative I would have had 5 different Gr.Gr. Grandmother's. Really got to watch the dates and family member names on those things. My grandpa Otis did have a sister named Rachael after her mother Rachael Minor. She was born in 1925. Not sure of her husbands names. She was married quite a few times.

Must be a different family then. My GR.grandmother Rachael Ann Minor was born July 28, 1888 and died July 20 1974. This is my mother's grandmother. Rachael died a year before I was born. Her parents were Joseph Minor and Marie Shampo. Joseph born 19 Nov. 1856. His parents were Narcisse b. June 1,1819 d. July 19, 1872. Marie Marcelline Ouimet b 3 Sept 1824 d. June 27 1880. This info was in my Grandmother LaVerle's family bible.

According to census records, Rachel Minor born about 1915 was the d/o Nelson Minor and Ethel Welch married 11 Nov 1907 Gould City, MI. Narcisse Menard and Marcelline Ouimet were her Great Grandparents.
Not related.

According to what my Grandfather said years ago the name was changed to Minor. His mother was Rachel Minor and lived in Sac Bay, Michigan which is located on the Garden Peninsula in the U.P. Would love to hear from anybody related.

During the spanish period about 1763-1803 Galvez settled people from Malaga (lower east coast of Spain).
There were military personal that retired there.
There was probably a small continous flow after that. The baptisimal of the first generation will have parents name & hometowns.

It has been awhile since this post, but my husband had his DNA done through Family Tree Maker. His surname is Miner, but we know that it was changed from something that sounded more like "manure". The Y chromosome matches showed Menard, St Aubin, LaRose.

Franklin was born about 1819/20 in St. Philippe. There is some oral history that the name was changed because the English speaking men teased about it sounding like "manure".
There is also legend of a female Indian, but the DNA came back as 100% european. According to the FamilyTreeMaker folks, this doesn't rule out Native American ancestry, it may just be such a small amount (meaning far back in time) that it doesn't stand out.

I am looking for any information about Franklin Miner, who was born in St. Philippe, QC. I have gotten his naturalization papers. He was sworn in 1844 in Troy, New York, and his residence was Moriah, Essex. The declaration states that he came to the United States as a minor in about 1834 and had resided in the US continuously for 10 yrs. My husband did a DNA swab, and we came up with the last names of Menard, St. Aubin, and LaRose. My understanding is that he was a boatman on Lake Champlain and on the river. ANY information would be helpful.
