Hi:

I don't have a tree on Ancestry. If you'll email me at frty9rgal@aol.com, I will send you my lineage. The Menees I joined DAR on is James Menees Jr. His father, James Menees Sr was the Irish immigrant in 1730.

Judy

My mother in law Marjorie Menees was one of the publishers of Family Ties - her email is menees@net-nw.com and she could tell you if this is part of your family. From my understanding all Menees names come from the same line but she has the full family line. I hope this will be of help to you. She is great about sharing information and has been the one that has helped me with my research. She is 89 years of age but still sharp as a tack!

Family Heritage Book and Menees Family Ties

Hello,

I am related to the Menees family through my paternal great-grandmother - Ollie Menees of Anna, IL (b. 1888, d. 1959 and the daughter of Commodore Perry Menees and Rebecca Jane Glasco).

I have a booklet written by June Menees Meyer, "The Meneeses in Little Egypt." In her introduction, Mrs. Meyer mentions two publications, "Menees Family Heritage Book" and a magazine called "Family Ties."

I am interested in learning more about this book and magazine and where I can obtain copies. Any ideas?

Also, if anyone is interested in exchanging information about the Menees family, I would love to correspond with you!

Thank you!

Sincerely,

April McDevitt

The purpose of this writing is to locate persons from several of the McNeese/McNees/McNeece/McNece/Menees, and other variants of this surname to engage in a DNA project to learn more about the relationships of our ancestors. Sites listed below give some indication of the type of project which we might undertake.
http://www.familytreedna.com/genbygen.html
http://www.familytreedna.com/products.html
http://www.duerinck.com/surname.html
http://www.dnaheritage.com/tutorial1.asp
http://blairgenealogy.com/dna/dna101.html#What%20Does%20it%2...

My line as proven begins with James McNeese who was married in Madison Co. Ky in 1792 and lived his life in Maury>Giles Co., Tn from the early 1800s. We have some indications of kinship with John McNeese of Va>Harrison Co., Ky., John of Cub Creek, and Benjamin in Caroline Co., Md. Additionally decendents of Bill McNeese’s Quaker group, The Brothers Three, McNeese>Menees, John McNeese of Pa, etc. could be informative.

Please make known your interest in assisting or cooperating with this project.

Cc: Bill McNeese, the ultimate McNeese repository
Woody, my Cousin who knows most about our lin and suggested this project
