Hi

I am tracing my Menton ancestors but have become stuck on my G Grandad Thomas abt 1865.

Thomas Menton County Wexford Born Around 1865

1901 and 1911 Dublin/Ireland census states he was born in Co Wexford but I can’t find any trace except his fathers name on his wedding cert.

Fathers name: Patrick Menton

Thomas married Mary Kelly in Cabinteely, Rathdown in 1891 and reared a family in Dublin City.

He may have been born in some area that was a Diocese of Wexford but in another Civic County.

I have found a record for Patrick Menton, Toome Parish in Ballyduffbeg Wexford in the Griffiths Valuation from 1853 but no other details.

I have searched the civic records by the LDS but there is nothing for Thomas or Patrick from Wexford...the records available are limited.

I need help!

I am also seeking information about Albert Lea menton married to Florence Davis. It is actually Florence whose family I am searching . . mor father is Wm V Davis who served in the civil war, mother stats with "L" depending on what records you look at: Laura, Lovina, Louisa. One was born in NY and the other in IL buat changes depending on the record also. Florence was born in NW MN, Shevlin Twp, Beltrami Co, MN but I cannot find further information about either of her parents . . . they are my real interest. Albert is my uncle. I just wrote a "teaser" article about our Aunt Jessie Belle Menton Morrow, the pioneer homesteader, and for any Mentons wanting to read about her the link is www;.temeritymag.com which is actually a magazine published for metal detectorists; however, their hobby is no different from the work we go through and I pointed that out to them in the teaser. My GG grandad was Thomas Menton born around 1867 Wexford and married and lived in Dublin til his death. His wifes name was Mary...unsure of maiden name.
I am from Dublinand live in London UK
Any clues for me.

I'm sorry, but I am unable to help. The Menton I inquired about lived back in the 1800s, and she is the only one that I have ever tried to research. So sorry that I am unable to help with any useful information for you. Good luck in your search!

hi i know i cant help you but was hoping maybe you could me? Im looking for a jane wanda menton she possibly died of cancer but she had two daughters that i know of and maybe more. the two girls was donna and sandy jane the mother had a sister named arizona i believe.. i think jane was from litchfield? not to sure but i believe she married a james william casey here in louisville ky back around about 1950.. well thats about all the info i have one them. anyways the two girls donna and sandy would be my half sisters from my dad id really like to meet or atleast talk to them ive never met them dont think they even know about me ...

I am looking for Lucy Menton born around 1806 either in North Carolina or Tennessee. She married Jeremiah Adams. We know she was in Denton Texas in 1850 living with Jeremiah and 5 of her children. An older daugher Jemina was married and living next door. We know in 1857 she was in St. Clair Illinois witnessing the marriage of her daughter Martha to Jemina's husband after Jemina died. Then in 1860, 1870 she is in Salem Illinois (Marion county). We can find no death records. We also know from her youngest child Henry Clay Adams (1851-1926) obit, that he had 14 siblings. The children's names that we know of are: Jemina 1825 Tennessee, James 1830 Tennessee, Martha 1838 Mississippi, John 1843 Illinois, George 1850 Illinois, Henry Clay Adams 1851 Texas. Hopefully some of this will match your Menton information.

Looking for Lucy Menton born in TN abt 1806. Married Jeremiah Adams. Had children in TN. Then moved to Illinois. In 1850 living in Collin County TX with Jeremiah. In 1860 living in Marion Illinois with 2 sons. In 1870 census still in Marion Illinois with one son. Any info from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I am interested in finding Lucy Menton. Married to Jeremiah Adams around 1820. Lived in Tennessee and had children there and in Illinois and TX. She was in Collin County TX in 1850, 1860 in Marion, Illinois, 1870 in Marion, Illinois and then disappears. Any info you may have would be greatly appreciated.

My great grand father was John M. "jack" Butler (Menton). His father was William M. Menton and his mother was Edna Menton. I can tell you that he was born 11/14/1903 in easthampton. So i don't know if we're related but i would to find out

I have an Israel Massey, born 1793 in Maryland and died in Jefferson County, Ohio in 1885. He was married to Jane Menton somewhere in the vicinity of 1818-1821. I believe they were married in Maryland as that was the birthplace of their children. Were there any Mentons in Maryland or in that vicinity?

Parents of Johann Wilhelm Menton of Ottersberg, Pfalz/GER/FRA? Moved to Malterdingen, Baden/GER before 1739. Born about 1718. Probably his children are named after parents of J.W.Menton: Conrad, Jacob, Johann (Jean?), Marie, Salome, Elisabeth.

My great, great grandmother was Bridget Menton (c.1836). She immigrated from Ireland to the USA with her parents, Patrick (c.1792) and Louisa (c.1800) and her brother, John (c.1832) and his wife Ann (c.1832). Would you have any information on them?

Notice: WILLIAM MENTON was a lieutenant Colonel in the Army. Born in 1927 and died 2004. He was recently buried at Riverside National Cemetary, Los Angeles County, CA. with not a single relative or friend in attendance. He had listed "none" under next-of-kin on his paperwork, but surely he has a distant cousin or someone out there ? A search at rootsweb.com brings up a Brenda Adams who lists him on her family tree, but her e-mail address at hotmail is no longer valid. Hi there. I have ancestry under the name Menton in roscommon ireland in county claire. There was a dennis menton who was married to an ann burns, theyhad a son thomas who married annie mulligan and came to the states (easton, MA) Any relation?

I am looking for any information on Minnie Menton, possibly born in the late 1700's or early 1800's. She married Thomas Ogilvie and had 3 children: James David born Sept. 3, 1832, John born abt. 1830, and George born abt. 1827. All children appear to have been born in Licking County, Ohio. She died while the boys were young. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is a family legend, rumor, tale, story . . . that our family descends from Johan Sebastian Bach. Are there any other Mentens/Mentons out there who have heard this same thing? This thought was triggered of course when I saw the subject line of this note!!

We are the Mentons from South Africa and it will be great ot see the family tree to see if we are somehow related.Im wanting to return to ireland but i currently hold a south african passport and it seems very difficult to work and have a holiday there because thats the only way i will be able to afford vissiting ireland.Looking forward to hearing from you!From the lonely Mentons in South Africa

hello jeanine...i believe we are related...as i know that Peter w. menton was my great greatgrandfather....and he had a son peter who settled here in this area...and had a very large family..and my grandfathers name is madison T. Menton...and he had a brother Albert Lea Menton...it looks like their mom...(my great grandmother) liked to name her kids after prominent figures of the time...so...i can tell you more...if you like...drop me a line...my name is Kay Menton...my dads name was Theodore madison Menton

In response to requests re: Albert Menton . . . I have an uncle Albert Menton, but none of the other stats fit!! Now don't you Irish folks think you are the only Mentons as our line descended from Germany and there are more Mentons in France than you can count as well!! My ggggrandfather Martinus Menten emigrated from Germany in 1854, to Milwaukee, Wisconsin then on to Minnesota. There's a whole bunch of us!! Good luck!!

My name is Tara Marie Alaimo (Lilley).I'm searching for anyone with infomation on Albert Menton who was married to my Great Aunt Ethel Virginia Lilley who married Albert Menton and had 1 child (Daughter) they named her Faye.Ethel passed away at the young age of 17 living her husband and new born daughter.Faye grew up and married a man by the name of Wesley Godwin in 1936.Albert Menton passed away in the early 1960's.Ethel was born 6/28/1893 and died 8/28/1910.If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated.

My grandfather's name was Denis Menton, from NJ,married to Agnes Swider.His father was Martin Menton, married to Katharine Reynolds. I believe Martin's father's name was also Martin Menton who was born in Ireland(B:1852)and married Julia Lodge. I do not have any info on any other children or siblings of Martin Sr.

Caroline - found the following infomation about Martin Menton, Sr., married to Julia Lodge. He died in Derby, CT on April 24, 1886. In addition to martin, Jr., they had daughter Maggie born 1876 in Derby; son James, born 1880 in Derby; and daughter Ellen J. "Nellie", born Sept., 1877, and died June 14, 1893 in Derby.

I am looking for information on my great grandmother. Her name was Catherine Elizabeth Menton and we think her parents were from Ireland and settled in North Carolina. She was first married to Aziel Bruce and had a son William. She later married Thomas D. Chapman (my great grandfather) May 25, 1848 in Greene County Georgia. She died sometime in the 1870's and Thomas remarried. She and Thomas had 10 or eleven children and lived in Georgia around Greene and Hancock counties. It is believed that she or her father played the Irish Horn. Any information on her or her parents and siblings would be appreciated.

If any one would like to know if one of your relatives is one of mine just reply to this message. Leave a maiden and married name. (If married.)
