Hi
My name is Paul Dean. My mother was Dora Meredith. My Great Grandfather was James Meredith born 1848 when the family was living in Bistree, Mold. I presume your Thomas (Eastham) would be uncle to James?
I do have the Meredith archives Photos etc family bible and copies of Johns family bible.I live in the house my Granfather James Evelyn Meredith built, where the family ephemera is kept.
The merediths regulary switched Christian names and gave misinformation to the census and moved around the country as Tailors .Facinating really.
What is your connection?
Regards
Paul Dean

Diana,
Do you know the name of the Meredith brother missing from your tree? Did he have children? My maternal grandmother was Lucy Meredith (maiden name). She was born in AL. We have been told that a street in Bessemer or Birmingham AL is named for our Meredith family. Perhaps there is a connection. Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks'
Shirley

Hi - My gramma - Mona Annie Brighouse was born in Samoa but sent to live with her grandmother in England when she was 4 years old. When she was 16, she was sent to live with an aunt in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She met my grampa Ernest McIntee and they had a family. My mom - Muriel McIntee (Hopkins) is their 3rd child of 5.
Gramma's father was Thomas Wilkinson Brighouse but gramma never knew her mother's name. Thomas later married Fati Tagomoa in Samoa and they had many children. My gramma Mona never heard from her father TWB again after she left Samoa. I have been searching for my gramma's mother for about 2 years now with the help of many Brighouse family members - as well as others. I had found a court record where Thomas Wilkinson Brighouse admitted that he had been married to Marie Pettibone and that they had a child named Mona from that marriage. Marie had died and he stated that the child was now believed to be living in Canada.
Marie Pettibone had been married to William R. Pettibone who was thought to be lost at sea when she married TWB. I could not find any records re William or Marie so I was unable to find out her maiden name. I had no proof whatsoever that she had married TWB or why she passed away.
Recently, a very wonderful person contacted me to tell me that she had found a marriage certificate for TWB and the widow - Marie Pettibone. After doing some research, she learned that Marie's full maiden name was Marie Henriette Dorothea Wulf of Samoa. Marie's parents were born in Germany...Hans Dietrich Wulf and Elizabeth (Elsie, Lizzie) Haber. Marie's siblings were Theodor Dietrich Sophus, Sophie Louise, Henriette Wilhemina and possibly Edward Tom. Sophie Wulf married James Meredith - son of Thomas Meredith and Janet Milligan. James had a brother named Thomas as well.
I am very interested in learning more about my gramma's mother's family however - I am unable to renew my membership with Ancestry at this time and it is difficult to find info from any other sources. My family tree is posted on Ancestry "McIntee/Brighouse family tree (also Hopkins and Cole). I'm not sure whether the info I have recorded on the Meredith family is correct or not. I would like to have all info on the family up to the present if possible.
Although my Mom and my Gramma Mona have passed away - I have 2 elderly aunts I am hoping to share my family tree with. Please help me if you are able. Thanks so much and take care,

Dianne Stone
Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada

I have been researching the Meredith family from Telephone Texas. This seems to be where Mary and D Meredith were from. Also Minnie and C.H. Meredith are buried there. I think i need to find their Grandchildren.
I am looking for a Meredith from this family that would be about 65 now. He lived with an older couple by lake Coffee Mill{ Telephone Tx. } in the mid 1960s. He was about 19-20 at the time. Not sure if the older couple were his parents or grandparents but they were Merediths. I do not have a first name of the young man..all i do know is that he was very tall, space between front teeth and had an underbite. Cowboy type. I would love to find any information on this family.

Margaret Hamer married William Gravenor and did, indeed, immigrate to America in 1855. I have located the record of their marriage as well as 1841 and 1851 Wales census for the family. Their daughter Jane is my gggrandmother. I have run into a fluffy wall (as opposed to brick because there are so many possibilities) regarding William's parentage. Margaret's parents were Rev. Richard Hamer and wife, Margaret James. I see it has been a while since you posted this query but I hope this information helps. I would love to hear from you and your connection to this family.

Re: THEODORE JOHN MEREDITH DESCENDANTS

I have exhausted my sources trying to find Theodore James Meredith. We are left with a collection of memories along with my reading of his diaries which have since been lost. We can prove Meredith went to America probably as a crew member of the Alabama although he was not listed in the manifest of the maiden voyage. We know he served on the Mississippi fleet as seaman. His diaries give an exact record of his exploits. Eventually the Mississippi fleet was decimated by Union fire and he was taken into a prisoner camp. Again we can only rely family sources but his son Ernest Meredith told of how he was captured near Tennessee. I have been reading about the prisoner of war camps and there were some many hundreds thousands souls in those camps and I think Meredith escaped because the Union could not manage their captive. Many thousands of them died of starvation. We know he made it to New York as seaman then to Liverpool but his family had been scattered and he made it Melbourne then Sydney where his brother was living as was one or two of his sisters. From this point we have an exact record of his exploits. There is a pdf available at peter@gfb.co.nz.

We have his brother's family who live mostly in Sydney and Merediths had 11 kids and I count my self lucky to have met most them.
For the record Theodore John Meredith's third daughter was Mabel, she married James Leslie Guilford, between them they had 10 children the 6th of them was Grace who married Reginald Harman and he was my father. They all live in New Zealand
My grandparents lived in Rogers City for many years but I never knew just where the homestead was.

I've recently hooked up with a 3rd cousin, Joan, whose mother was Maude Meredith, one of William and Anna's daughters. We are hoping to find some good evidence as to where Thomas, William and James came from. Also, what might have happened to James. Would love any information you may have

Mary and Charles were my great great grandparents. I am going out to their 80 acre homestead today in fact, it's still in my family!

I am heading out to that area today and would be glad to take a picture of William's homestead if that would be of interest to you.
Hi!
Well, I have seen that a lot of folks list the family of Sir Richard Meredith as the progenitors of the VA New Kent line which is of course entirely without basis in fact as Richard's line is well documented and died out 150 years ago.
I would have thought that it is likely that given the dates I have seen for the first Meredith in that region, that you are looking for a patronymically named ancestor - therefore a Meredith .......... something rather than someone surnamed Meredith as surnames were not 'fixed' in Wales until the last 200 years.

Rich Meredith
