Mergen Family

I know very little about this side of my family. My mother is the youngest of 8 children. She is the daughter of Mary Katherine Mergen b. 1914, who Married Lloyd Ramie Weathers b.1912. My mom has told my the my grandmother had several brothers and sisters. These are the ones she can remember Lily, Nellie, John who was called Jay, and Joe. She said she remembered around of 5 aunts and 3 Uncles. I also know that my great grandfather's name is Leo Mergen. My grandmother died in 1987 when I was on 8 years old. At this time my mother found out that my grandmother had another child at the age of 16 or so. Before she married my grandfather who passed when my mother was 8. My mother has asked me to find her sister that she never knew. We know that she was born in Boone Co. Missouri and grandmother named her either Ruthie or Rosie. She would probably be in 90's by now so we would just like to find out what happened to her. If you have any information please let me know. Thanks.

To Lynn, John, and others,
My aunt, Mary Katherine Jackson, married Harry N. Mergen on 12/28/1920 in San Diego, CA. At the time he was an Ensign stationed on the USS Mississippi. They had one daughther, Janice Joye Mergen(my cousin). There was a divorce shortly thereafter. However, Janice Joye produced a large number of Mergen relatives in the So. Calif. area. I believe Harry Mergen and his family were from Nebraska. I would like to know what became of Harry and extend the genealogy to include the So. Calif. branch. I would be delighted to share the work-up with you. Thanks!
JOAN DURLING MERGEN/MERGIN OF GLEN ELLYN, IL

I am trying to locate Joan Durling Mergen/Mergin whose last known address (that I know of ) was Glen Ellyn IL. Her parents were Warren and Ann Durling of Titusville, NJ.

This quest concerns the Dorland family Bible once owned by her father Mr. Warren Durling who was kind enough to permit me to copy the records and information from that Bible. A new Dorland genealogy is being written and we would like to see if Mrs. Mergens would permit a photograph of the Bible and the family records to be taken. A new Dorland genealogy is being written and we would like this information for inclusion in the Genealogy. In addition we have been in touch with a Van Dorland in Holland who has been kind enough to give us some history of this style Bible which I am sure that Mrs. Mergen would find of interest.

Mrs. Mergin/Mergen may have moved from Ill to another part of the US as I believe this is the address where she was listed in her fathers obituary.

Thankyou

Judy Cassidy
