For those that research the origins of your ancestry, this is long overdue. It is a comprehensive overall Y-DNA Project. Primiarly for the following surnames and similar versions not mentioned:

Marvin, Marvine, Marvyn, Merfin, Merfinn, Mervin, Mervine, Mervis, Mervyn

Simon, I am a Mervyn based in England but originally from Ireland. I would be curious to know where your origins are from.

I found a John Mervyn who married Hester [--] and had at least 2 children: Mary(b. 1831) and Sidney (b.1836). John is listed as a shoemaker on the baptismal record for both children. William Mervyn, b. 1802, is also listed as a shoemaker on the 1821 census record for Cavan County, Ireland. Can anyone verify if these two are siblings?

i am albert mervyn's daughter, my father was born in Echo Bay. b/20 mar 1921 d/30 jan. 1990. his fathers name was also albert. b/1899 d/1958. both died of a heart attack.
Great grandfather is Henry Mervyn b/1860 d/mar.11 1942.then i have jane merrylees,james mervyn,mary Davis,
james merrylees, Mary Hamilton.Hope to hear from you.

I descend from William Mervyn b1802, James Henry b1832, Henry William b 1860, Howard b1902, and finally my mother Mary Edith Mervyn.

I'm looking for any information on any of the individuals listed below. Here it is spelled MERVIN. On Rebecca LEE's gravestone it has MERVEN. Since these spellings don't seem to come up except for MERVYN I'm guessing they are inter-changeable.

Rebecca LEE, married, 22yrs, born Ontario, Irish origin

From this I gather that Sidney MERVIN is the mother of Rebecca LEE, John S. MERVIN and Thomas MERVIN. Sidney's brother could be Finlay WILSON making her maiden name "possibly" WILSON but that's just a guess. So I could be looking for a marriage of an Unknown MERVIN to a Sidney WILSON.

Also researching LEE from Peterborough, Ontario as well. Thomas LEE above is the furthest I have and his gravestone as well as his wife Rebecca LEE (nee MERVEN) states that they were both born Peterboro(ugh), Ontario.

John Slater Mervyn (1928 - 1984)

I'm hoping someone can help fit a part of the MERVYN family tree.

Where does John Slater MERVYN, and his parents, fit? Who are John's grandparents?

John was born August 1928 in Akron, Ohio, USA, and died January 1984 in Fort Nelson, BC, Canada.

I believe John's father was a Neil MERVYN who was born about 1900 in Williamstown, West Virginia, USA.

I believe John's mother was a Ruth A. PIFER who was born about 1906 in Ahoona, Pennsylvania, USA.

I'm hoping someone can offer a clue pointing the right direction. I have a large MERVYN database (my Great Grandmother was a MERVYN), and I believe this MERVYN fits my family somewhere.
