Try Mets, Metts, Meets, Meetse, Mettz, Mettze, Meetz, Meetze, I have found family under all of these spellings. Remember census reports as well as other records are filed under the name on the document as written by the recorder and as interpreted by those at Ancestry. Until they are updated with cross references of different spellings they may not appear when you search for them. You can also change your search terms to soundex instead of exact which is extremely helpful in finding these records listed under spellings which vary and will prevent you from missing them.

Thanks for the reply! I think it's likely those are her parents. The strange thing is I can't find any record of the family (Samuel, Sarah and Grace} in any census or other records. I can find no record of Grace Jeanette until the 1900 Federal Census, after she was married to Charles Betts.

recently received a post card picture of their home in Middle Lancaster, Pennsylvania ... trying to identify the person who made the following note on the back

"Aunt Elizabeth Metz home at Middle Lancaster County Pa. She is sitting on her front porch. She is a sister in law of my mother, her brothers wife. They have a store along side and her son Andrew is standing at the door"

I do not have information on her brothers wife. The brother, Henry Luebben was born 1808 and died 1878. It is possible she had additional brothers that I don't have knowledge of.

Trying to find out info on my great-uncle John Metz, born in Louisville, KY in 1840 to Peter Metz and Mary Wendling. He had at least 2 siblings: Louisa Metz born in 1846 who married an Ostrander and Henry Metz born in 1850. Last record of John is 1860 census in Harrison Co Indiana, living with his mother Mary Wendling Metz who had remarried, to John Kline. Also; showing John Metz had a half-brother, George Kline. Mary Kline's mother, also; named Mary A Wendling lived with Mary & John Kline. Mary A married a George Newman.in 1863

Metz family Hamilton Co. Ohio

Looking for any information on date of death and burial location for Jane Gordon Metz born in Goshen Ohio who married William J Metz and moved to Columbia Township Ohio. She was the daughter of Seth Gordon. I found Williams plot in St Marys cemetery in St Bernard Ohio but she was not buried there. I believe she died around 1905.
She had daughters Kate and Jessie and a son Clyde W.

Hi, I read your request concerning the Metz family in Maryland. I'm a direct dependent of Rachel and Lemech Metz. I don't know if this information will help you. My ancestors immigrated from Metz, Germany in the early 19th century and ended up establishing Metz, WV. I have my genealogy traced thru them to Hon. Frederick Metz was my great great grandfather through his son Charles. My sister has done a lot of research and has a Garrett family tree on Ancestry (our grandmother was Gertrude Metz Garrett, Charles's daughter). I believe it is a public tree so you could go there. There is a bit of history of the family there going back to Germany although nothing about Dr. Philip Metz. Hope this helps.

I know this is years late, however, Adam's father's name was also Adam and his mother's name was Sarah Smart. Adam was from Pennsylvania and his mother was from England.

PAUL HAD SIX KIDS WITH HER ONE IS IN TENN , THE OTHER IS IN Ca. one in tenn, one in arz. and the others are in las vegas how ever i ran into paul in the middle 80,s and he was workiong downtown cincy oh in construction i had a brief conversation with him and havent seen him since terri his oldest daughter in tenn said that he did come to vegas in the 70,s for a visit and then just disappeared. hope this helps we r still looking for him also. if u hear anything let us know thanks diane

HIS DAUGHTER TERRI THE OLDEST BY HIS WIFE JOANN IS LOOKING FOR HIM AND I WAS TRYING TO HELP HER I LOOKED IN THE PHONE BOOK THAT I HAD AND FOUND A PAUL METZ AT 5749 GLOW CT/WESTWOOD OHIO/ AT 513-922-0189 AND I CALLED AND THE LADY THAT ANSWERED WAS NOT VERY NICE SHE SAID THAT I HAD THE WRONG NO AND PEOPLE KEEP CALLING HER AND HER HUSBAND IS IN HIS 80,S SO SCRATCH HIM OFF THE LIST AND I TOLD HER THAT I WAS SORRY. I JUST LEFT THERE 3YRS AGO.

Since this is almost 10 years ago, I don't know if you are still checking. My ggg grandfather, David Metz has 14 kids. My gg grandfather was Samuel Clinton and Scott was another son born in 1859.

My ggg Grandfather was David Metz, born in 1826. He had 14 children, I believe. My gg grandfather was Samuel Clinton, b 1861 and there was a George Ransom Metz born in 1868.
I wonder if this is the George you were looking for.

I was wondering if you came across a David Metz born in 1826 in Lancaster, PA. He is my great-great-great grandfather and that is where I am stuck. He married Mary Willow in 1851, then eventually moved on Nebraska and died in 1910.

Thank you for posting this.. Lt. Jacob Metz is my great (no. 6) grandfather. I wasn't sure if he served during the war, it looked like he may have but I couldn't confirm. I know his son Leonard also served as a Ranger for the Pennsylvania militia just after the Revolution. Would you know if Jacob served under the command of Captain Albright Deibler's company? I have a Jacob Metz and Elias Metz (his son) listed in the Pennsylvania Muster rolls from Lancaster County. However I couldn't place their companies - there was a Jacob Meetz listed under Captain Albright Deibler's company who were at the Battle of Long Island and later fought at Newtown and against the Iroquois Confederacy. Not sure if this is the right Jacob Metz.

I was recently in Metz about a month ago and took several pictures of the headstones at Bee Gum cemetery including both Leonard Metz and his wife Malinda Ann Hibbs. Arthur's was added to the site a couple years ago. I'm still piecing together this very large family of ours and very much appreciate your response. Your great great grandfather, Lamech, was the brother of my great great great great grandfather, Samuel Leonard.

I wanted to see if anyone has any personal information about my great grandparents. My father Paul Metz moved to California with his father Peter T. Metz when he was three in 1920. I know there are many relatives in Kansas and Oklahoma who may have more personal stories. I believe that my grandfather ran away from home and was possibly raised on a farm with another family. I have a Mary Metz in my tree who I know nothing about except for she married Sam Cohen (Cohn) in Cleveland in (i think) 1891. They had 4 children and she died not much later (early 1900s).
