Mickleburgh (& variants) UK - Australia link

Hello, my name is Sharon and I'm trying to research my husband's family. Researching Australian NSW birth records takes me back as far as 1875 with NO records prior this date. However the 5(?) *couples I've found must have had parents! This is what I know and maybe it will ring a bell with someone else - I hope. I'm wondering if they married in England, then migrated to Australia as none show up on marriage registry 1788 -1875.

*George and Eliza Mickelburgh/Mickleburgh
Children: George Mickelburgh born 1876 Tamworth Aust.
Margaret M Mickleburgh born 1878 "
John Mickleburgh " 1883 "

*James and Sarah Mickelburgh
Child: Clara J Mickelburgh born 1878 Tamworth

*George and Susannah J Mickelburgh
Children: Emma V.M Mickelburgh born 1903 Tamworth
George H Mickelburgh born 1905 "

*John/James and Charlotte Mickleburgh/Mickelborough
Children: George Mickleburgh born 1850 unknown
James Mickelborough born 1851 Tamworth
Benjamin Mickleburgh born 1859 "
Henry Mickleburgh born 1862 "

*William and Margaret M Mickelborough
Children: Clifford Ambrose born 1899 Tamworth
Clement Arthur born 1903 "
The first recorded marriage is of George, son of James/John & Charlotte.
Please mention if any medical history of epilepsy - my daughter has very rare neurological condition resembling one highly prevelant in Finland - trying to find any evidence in the family history that may aid in diagnosis. Thank you in advance for any replies.
Sharon

Sherylin,
My gggrandmother, Nancy Laura Mickelborough m. Sterling L. Gresham. Was a sister to Adeline Mickelborough Betterton who m. Nathan Betterton in Loundes Co., Ala. Sterling d. in Loundes Co., Ala. in 1845/6 and Nancy Laura brought her children to Rusk Co. Texas in 1852 to live with her brother Alial S. Mickelborough. My uncle J. D. Gresham, who died in 1980 in Nacogdoches Co., Texas said his grandfather, James Henry Gresham, told him they stopped at the home of aunt Adeline in Lousiana on their way to Rusk Co., Texas. He also said that aunt Adeline's son Leslie (I think) came to visit James Henry in the early 1900's.
I have some info on the Mickelboroughs if you are interested. My e-mail address: TGresham@houston.rr.com.

Troy Gresham

Hi ! Yes, I got your email. I am so excited to hear from you and to discover a new relative. The only information I have goes back to the names of Richard Henry Mickelborough's parents. I did not have the 1st name of Ms.LeDeau. Since I have only a small amount of info. anything you might have would be wonderful, burial places and names that go further back. Heard there was a family plot in Navasota?(Will be in Texas in August; if time permits would like to find it.)
Herbert has me stumped. My grandfather had said he just up & left, never heard from again. We thought we might have located him about 15 years ago. Story had it, he went to war and his trigger finger was shot off.
I am leaving for vacation in the morning and wil be back on the 14th. I will be sure to touch base w/ you as soon as we get back.
P.S. I might be able to get my hands on a family scrapbook this week, maybe get some new info. for us.
Thanks, Cindy
Mickelborough's From The UK - Great Yarmouth & Rotherhithe Area 19th C

Hello,

I have been researching my family tree since the beginning of last year. My ancestors all lived in Surrey (now London) in the following areas; Rotherhithe, Camberwell, Peckham, Nunhead from the 1820's to the 1950's.

My Grandfather Harold Mickelborough was one of 12 children. His parents were Walter (b. Rotherhithe, Surrey 1869) and Maria nee Knott (b. Reading, Berkshire 1873). Walter's parents were William Paul and Annie nee Read/Reed?. William was born in Rotherhithe, 1839. William's parents were Paul and Louisa nee Larcombe. Their birthdates/places are unknown to me at time of writing, but I know they were married in April 1825 in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England.

If anyone has any links I'd like to hear from you.

Thanks.

Michelle

Hi...I'm researching my great-grandmother. If I'm on the right track, she would be Caroline Betterton (maybe called "Callie"). Her mother would be Adaline E. Mickelborough. Do you know anything about her other than who she married and the children's names? Anything would be greatly appreciated. She died in Union parish (Farmerville, Louisiana). I've visited the grave and found her, Palatia, and Lizzie. I would like to know if Caroline is buried in Shreveport, La. in the Greenwood Cemetery if you know anything about that part. Also, if you know, who did Caroline marry? My great-grandfather was James H. Mason. Thanks!
