Daniel Mickey's Mother
I am looking for the mother of Daniel L. Mickey, who was born May 1861 in Pennsylvania, and died May 19th, 1948 in Perryopolis, PA.

His father was George Washington Mickey, who was born 1825 in Casselman, Somerset, Pennsylvania. I have thought Mary Prosser is a possible candidate to be Daniel Mickey's mother, because there was a Mary listed in the 1860 census as Daniel's mother.

I know George Washington married three times, but can anyone confirm Mary Prosser as Daniel's mother? It would be much appreciated if someone could.

Re: Thomas and Thomas W Mickey

Hello Jeff - I believe you are the son of Merrill Baxter Mickey (1919-1981) and grandson of Glenn Ralston Mickey (1899-1979). Your line back from there is partially correct, but has errors in the early part. Glenn was the son of Jesse Elmer Mickey (1871-1952) and grandson of Thomas Wilson Mickey (1835-1907). Thomas Wilson Mickey was born in Newton Township, Cumberland County, PA and died in German Township, Harrison County, OH. He was the son of BENJAMIN MICKEY (not Thomas) who was born about 1798 in Cumberland County, PA and died between 1870 and 1880, probably in Harrison County, OH. Benjamin Mickey was the son of James Mickey (c. 1765-1809) and grandson of Robert Mickey, Jr. (c.1721-1795) and great-grandson of Robert Mickey (c.1690-1742) who came to Sussex County, Delaware in 1719 and died there. If you want to e-mail me directly, I have a lot of data on your Benjamin Mickey's descendants. Chris H. Bailey - ChrisHBailey@sbcglobal.net

I have been working on my genealogy for about 1 1/2 years now. I am wondering if your Mickeys are connected to mine. My 2G-great-grandfather was Joseph Mickey (b. 19 NOV 1816) in Westmoreland, PA. His parents were James Mickey (b. abt. 1790) in Westmoreland, Pa and Mary Hare(Hair).
I have James' parents as Robert Mickey(b. abt. 1755) and Elizabeth Eager. Robert's parents were Daniel Mickey(b. abt. 1730)and Mary(?).
Do they tie into your Mickeys, since they were in the same county in PA?

Unraveling some of the Mickey family of Westmoreland Co

I wanted to share this information with the Mickey board because it is so difficult sorting out the female branches through census research. I have been researching the Mickey family off and on for about 10 years and I have known for a long time that my 3rd greatgrandmother was Margaret Mickey (1817-1879). She married John T Kennedy (1812-1896) and had a large family that moved from the Ligonier Valley to the Monongahela Valley south of Pittsburgh. Recently I unraveled her parental line. Through the census I have peiced together that her sister was Susanna Mickey who married William Bear and their parents were Daniel Mickey and Elizabeth Riddle of the Austin Mickey line. Elizabeth riddle Mickey appears with Susanna in Leechburg PA in 1860 btw. Catherine Jane "Jennie" Kennedy, Margaret's daughter, appears in 1870 as a worker in a hotel that Susanna was operating in 1870. Susanna only had on child, Addison Leech Bear (later Bair), who relocated to Chicago Illinois.

I know it has been covered but you should really look at the Large family of Jefferson Twp Allegheny Co PA for clues on that family. My Kennedy and Mickey families were from Donegal in the Ligonier Valley and they ended up in Jefferson Twp by 1880 via Freeport Armstrong Co. All these areas had lots of Mickey's living there but Jefferson Twp had/has both Mickey's and Large families.
If you have not found your Mickey lineage, I have more detail on the ancestry of Francis Marion Mickey (1877-1939), son of Daniel Webster Mickey (1851-1917) who married Sarah Adaline Little (1852-1934). I am related to both Daniel and his wife. Frank was married in 1902 to Carrie Grace Cobb (1883-1969) and I remember going to visit Carrie and collect some family information when I was in my early 20's. They had ten children born between 1904 and 1926.
Dear Lee, Thanks for the information. I'm not sure any of your Isaac's are who I am looking for. My Grandmother Sarah Ann Mickey Large was born April, 26, 1871 and I am looking for her father Isaac Mickey married to Josephine Porter. I got their names from Grandma's marriage license. Unfortunately I do not have their dates of birth or death, so it is a little hard to track them down. I know Grandma had two brothers, Richard and Alfred and one sister. This according to the obituary in the paper
It is possible Isaac born 1812 at age 59 could have been her father........
you can reach me off the board at numillr_2@yahoo.com

Thanks again,
Bertha Neumueller

I have three Isaac Mickeys.
Isaac born 15 Apr 1783 in Pennsylvania, son of Robert Mickey (1756-1814) and Elizabeth. I show two marriages, 1810 to Elizabeth Roberts Metcalf and 1817 to Savannah Brinley. They have 11 children including a son Isaac.

Isaac born about 1810, son of Daniel (1762-1814) and Elizabeth Thompson (c1765- ?) Daniel moved to Westmoreland County from his birth in Cumberland Co., PA.

Isaac born circa 1812, son of Daniel (1778-1828) and Elizabeth Woodrow. Daniel moves from Westmoreland Co., PA to Montgomery, Ashland Co., OH.

All of these Isaac's are 3d cousins, 5 times removed so I haven't much additional info on them.

If I can help, please contact me.

Lee

So far I have found Isaac Mickey born 26Apr1783 in Westmoreland Co. PA, son of Robert and Elizabeth.
Another source I have is an Isaac Mickey marrying Josephine Porter listed at the Illinois Statewide Marriage index,1763-1900, only 5 names down from my great-grand parents names. I probably have some more, I do remember reading about a Sarah Mickey. My email is bsporter@sbcglobal.net, if you want to get in touch off the boards. I am going to my mom's this week, I will see what else I can find and get back to you.
Sheila Mickey Porter

Hi Sheila,
Thanks so much for answering my post. I have just started researching my mother's side of the family and am also new at it.My maternal grandmother was Sarah Ann Mickey and we know very little about her. We know she had two brothers, Richard and Alfred. Her parents were Josephine (Porter)Mickey and father was Isaac Mickey. I have tried to track down where Sarah was born, but every place in Il.I sent for birth records has been a brick wall. I have no idea where Josephine and Isaac were born. I would be so interested if you do find anything relative to my Porter's and Mickey"s.
Her marriage license gave us the names of Josephine and Isaac, but the Co. she listed as her birthplace didn't have records back to 1871 when she was born.
Good Luck in your search.
Bertha Neumueller

Hi! Bertha,
I probably won't be a lot of help, now, because I haven't been at this too long. I am also looking for Mickeys and Porters but your names don't ring a bell in my direct line. My Mickeys are in Butler Co., Mo. My husbands Porters are Perry Co., Mo. I have traced Mickeys back to Birds, Lawrence Co., Illinois and on back to Dongegal, Westmoreland Co., PA. They came to the U.S. from Scotland by way of Ireland by ship to Delaware.
The Porters were also in Pennsyvania and New York, I just haven't gotten as far and will have to look at my notes.
I laughed at my husband one day and said it looks like both families are from Pennsylvania; we may be cousins. Seeing you post really makes me wonder.
I hope maybe the locations might help you find another place to look.I will look back through what I do have to see if a sibling might be Isaac or Josephine. Several of the Mickeys had 10-12 children and I haven't gotten as far with the Porters, but I will check the names I do have.
Good Luck,
Sheila Mickey Porter

Hi John, Any chance that you have come across information on a Sarah Ann Mickey, born April 26, 1871. We think born in Decatur Ill., but not sure. She was married to John G. Large in Fulton Co. Ill. All of the children (11 of them ) are gone so have no source there. Sarah was my grandmother and died in 1942 when I was 12 yrs old. Never thought to question my mother about her grandparents, so am really lost there. I'm now 79 and my grandsons are asking about their Scottish or Irish ancestry. Would love to be able to help them out.
Thanks,
Bertha Neumueller
numillr_2@yahoo.com
