Re: RELATIVES FOR ARTHUR MIDDLETON

My ancestor was Mrs. Anne Waddell (born in the late 1700s) whose daughter believed they were descended from the Charleston Middleton family. Anne is nowhere to be found in accounts of that family, so I think she must have been an illegitimate daughter. Currently I think her biological father was Henry Middleton (1770-1846) who had a summer home near where Mrs. Waddell lived.

Hello Margaret, I would be interested in what you have. The children of your Aunt Eleanor are still alive with two living in the Glasgow area and one living in Thailand the last I knew. I keep in touch with her daughter Ellen and have been her company a couple times when I visited Scotland. Here is my home e-mail if you like...

gmiddleton18@comcast.net

George Middleton
Delaware, USA

Hi there, I note that we have surname in common. My aunty Eleanor McQuade Middleton. I am the daughter of her sister Sarah Hollywood McQuade Savage. I am researching McQuade Hollywood and have lots of stuff I can share if you are interested, my recent find is the grave of Bernard Hollywoods wife, Jane Russell. Also the graves of the original McQuades who arrived from Ireland and I have a photo of Wilson McQuade and Mary Hollywoods grave if this is of interest to you? Kind regards, Margaret McQuade Savage

Briefly, about the parents of your great-grandmother Catherine Arkle:

George William Arkle was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England in 1833, son of a customs official named John William Arkle and his wife Mary. George was married twice, both times in Ireland. He had 3 children with his first wife Honora or Hanora Taylor who died before 1874, one assumes, as he married his second wife that year. He and his second wife, Margaret Sullivan, and their blended family emigrated to Canada in 1889 and settled on the Prairies. He appears in the 1891 Assiniboia census and the 1906 census of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Thus Catherine's parents would have been George William Arkle and Margaret Sulivan. I can send you further details if you are still seeking them. I also found details of Thelma and Raymond, if you are still seeking those.

Probably it would be best if you clicked on my name above and sent me a private message through the Ancestry message service giving me your email address, as the information is quite lengthy to send through these messages.
I'm looking for relatives of my father. He was born in England on August 28, 1920. I think his father's name was Albert John Middleton and his mother was Sarah Ann Bird. He may have had a brother named Albert. He left England in 1945 after the war and settled in Canada. He lived in Mill Hill, and also in County Norfolk, near Langham. I've been having trouble finding any information, so any leads you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

His son, John Middleton
Vanessa, Ontario, Canada.

Herb & Charles Middleton

I am trying to help a good friend of mine track down her mother's cousin Herb Middleton. I am copying and pasting her words from a standard letter that we are sending out:
My mother’s name is Kathe, and her father was Charles Middleton. For several months I have been working on putting together my family tree and trying to find some information about my family’s past. I’m writing because my mother remembers meeting a man named Herb Middleton who was her father’s nephew. This meeting happened between 1967 and 1971 in Cupertino, California. My mother remembers Herb coming to the door of their home and introducing himself. She also remembers him saying he was from the east coast (possibly Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). He also spoke of a wife who had stayed back east. The visit made my grandfather feel uneasy for whatever reason, and Herb never returned for lunch the next day as planned. I have reason to believe that my grandfather was born in or near Philadelphia on March 1st, 1910. I also believe he had a sister named Matilda Middleton who eventually took the last name Weiss.
If you are Herb or know how to get in touch with Herb or have any other helpful information please reply or send me a direct message. I have pictures of Charles and Matilda but Ancestry is not letting me load them, I will try doing so again tomorrow. Thanks!
Kassie

It has been a couple of years since I've last corresponded with you and I have additional information.

Dolly Middleton that you have discussed is my G.Grandmother. Her parents were Bendy (Benjamin) and Sarah Middleton. Dolly's given name was Madora but she went by Dolly or Dora. In 1890 she married Robert H. Stephens and about 1900 they separated. My Grandmother, Lillian Stephens was adopted by the Hale family in Village, VA. Her sister, Minnie was adopted by the McKenney family in Lottsburg. I do not know what happened to the other children or to Dora/Dolly. Do you have any family records or recollection of Dolly's outcome?

Thank you so much for all of your help.

NCR
