I am looking to find an connection with my Great, Great Grandmother who was Ann Midwinter.
She was born in 1811 and died 19.9.1866. She married James Heath and on her death was buried in StPeterr & St Paul’s Church Northleach Gloucestershire.
It is believed that she may have been related to William Midwinter who has a brass in Northleach Church dated 1550, presuming that W.M relates to him..
William Midwinter had lands levied to him in the area in 1484 from John Purlewyn and his wife Ann, who was the daughter and heir of John Doding.
It appears that William Midwinter may have married a judge’s daughter named Lemryke in about 1482. In 1493 William Midwinter was bailiff.
Rumor has it that William Midwinter, in the reign of Edward IV, sent 4 rams and 20 ewes to the King of Aragon and from these all the Merino sheep in Australia and South Africa are descended.
If you can connect with this I would be pleased to here from you
