Charles Mier, Germany to TX in 1849

Can anyone give me any information on him? He arrived in Galveston TX in May 1849 on the Ship Brig Herschel from Bremen. He married Mary Jane Farris Ingram in March 1857
in Gillespie County, TX. He must have died in 1859 because his pregnant wife moved to West TN to live with her parents.
She had a girl about March 1860; she also had a son, Charles Robert Myers in 1858 born in TX. C. R. Myers is my great grandfather, and I wonder who his ancestors are and any German information about the family. Thanks!

Also google www.minorcanfamily.com and it tells all the way back to 1700 on the Mier family. I notice that GGGGrandfather had 17 children. He was busy. (Ha) It's all interesting. Granny side is Thompson her dad is John but somewhere the name changes. I let you know.
Keri,
Haven't seen you since you were very little. Grandpa Mier was Spanish. His family came from Cadiz Spain to St Augustine in the mid 1700s. His family never married outside of other Spanish families until grandpa married granny. The Mier names was once De Mier.

Robin, I am not sure that she will ever respond. I lost track of her years ago. Hope you are doing well. Since we are replying on grandpa's post...I have been doing a lot of research on grandpa's line and have traced the Miers back to Cadiz Spain. I would love any info on grannies side.

Angie, I was on this looking up the Mier family when I seen that you were trying to locate your Dad. He is here in Jacksonville. Stay's in touch with Ugly Bug. (How Sad)And disrepectful. She was the one who was there for you until you call and said you had lost your children and wanted more MONEY from her.She does not lied. And I too know the truth and story as I was the one who wired the money. She is my mother and I do not disrepect her and do not appreciate you doing it.(I know my mother and her good heart). All of you have bad behaivor and its easy to blame others for your choices. All of your family is still in Jacksonville, Your sister is here. Your mother is sick and remarried and lives close by. You know where everyone lives as no one has moved. You have! No one talks about you and never has. You made the choices with your life so take ownership for it. I'M glad to hear that you are doing good. PS Your Dad is alive and well. I know he would love to hear from you. He often asks my MOTHER about you in which she has nothing she can tell him as she doesn't know anything. But you know where all your family is. Robin
Robin

the Mier's are a long established family from Santa Fe, NM. You may want to look up that family. Good luck... i also found this:http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.fc/qx/mier-family-crest.h...

Thank you Jenna, for saying that. My name is Bobbie, I am one of Connie's daughter, her middle child. How dare someone outside the family post this without consent. That wasn't their job to do... Her 6th year anniversary is coming up and it hasn't been easy... I hope one day she can rest peacefully, she comes to me in dreams. She's not at rest. That's very sad and heartbreaking... Again Jenna, my dear cousin, thank you!!!

I speculate that my family is also linked to the Mier family from Monterry but have not been able to confirm. My grandfather Daniel Mier(1865) and his brother Adolfo Mier were born in Chalchihuites, Zacatecas---their parents were Jose Maria Mier and Fortina Roldan---I am not sure where they were born. I have not be able to go any further than Jose Maria Mier---any hints/suggestions would be appreciated.

You can probably make an educated guess regarding the potential birth date for your Daniel Mier, based on the age of your father, his father and so on...

That is what I was trying to determine---whether or not your Daniel Mier could have been born abt 1865---if not and we are both way off base then we know that your Daniel and my Daniel and different people. That's all I was trying to convey.

If indeed, they were both born around the same date then we may have something here...??

Thanks y saludos

Wow, that was a hundred years ago. My dad doesn't remember much about his grandmothers side, only that she was married to Daniel Mier. I'm not really familiar with my grandmother she passed from cancer when I was 3 years old. I do have an uncle named Adolfo though. Maybe my grandmother named him after him? Who knows. There must be some kind of relation, though. I mean the last name Mier is not so common and then coming from a town that is only 15min from San Jose Del Alto there must be some kind of relation. If I find anymore information I will let you know.

My grandfather Daniel Mier was born in 1865 in Chalchihuites, Zacatecas and died 1918 in Durango, Dugango. He married my grandmother Maria Enriqueta Acosta in 1908; I know that Daniel had been previously married to an unknown Hernandez and had a daughter Consuelo who lived in Mexico City and has since died.Daniel may have also been married to others---?

I am not familiar with the names Irma, Edmundo or Ernestina Mier but Daniel---if your father still lives ask hm if he knew whether Daniel had a brother named Adolfo; Adolfo married my grandmother's sister Dolores Acosta.

She had one brother and one sister, Edmundo Mier and Ernestina Mier. They're from a small town in Zacatecas. It's called San Jose Del Alto. My dad thinks that his grandfathers name is Daniel Mier. He left my grandma and remarried. We have no idea who he remarried though. Last we heard of him he was in Tijuana. It would be awesome if we're somehow related.
