Hello Amy
My mother was a Mignerey from Cadillac, Michigan, her father John Mignerey died I believe in the 1920s. My mother has traced her Mignerey background to the town of Etoban in France very near the Swiss boarder. She visited Etoban in the 1970s and found that almost every resident of that small village is a Mignerey, and related to her. My mother Louise Mignerey also found another relative who was an important early person in Nome, Alaska. It seems that the name Mignerey in the U.S. is fairly not commom and that most of the Mignereys are probably related and came through New York from France where as Hugonauts were persecuted at different times and fled to remote areas like Etoban where they maintained a simple lifestyle. Hope this helps. Alex

Hello,

May be Mignerey came from Moselle, one of the departement of Lorraine
when Alsace-Lorraine became a province of Germany, after 1871, Especially from "Ars sur Moselle", commune of Moselle, where there were
a lot of Mignerey's families who lived here.

Try to seek, with the mormons church

regards

Philippe verpillot

Jacques Mignerey

I am looking for information on my g-g-grandfather, Jacques Mignerey, born Jan. 1842, died 5 Jan 1906. I found him on the 1880 Burlington, CT census with his 60 yr old mother Catherin (listed as Jacques Minnary). They indicated that they came to America in 1872 and were from Germany. But the next census says that Jacques was from France. (maybe that means they were from the Alsace-Lorraine area?) He married Lucy Dowd in 1882. The family has since changed their name to Minery.

Any information on this family would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Amy Dunne
