They came Santo Stefano Italy my great grandfathers name was Stefano Militello,born 16 Sep 1852 died Aug 5, 1925
in Swoyersville Pennsylvania, grandfather was also born in Santo stefano his name was Giuseppe Militello June 13 1882 born in Santo Stefano died July 11 1936 in Swoyersville Pennsylvania. I have a lot more information on the Militello clan from Santo stefano if you care to write to me

I believe it means Military. So I suppose people should be nice to you. It orignated I think from Sicily. Keep in mind that many types of people were exiled or traded with Sicily over the years, so you may have other blood mixed in. If you trace your family back to the east side of Sicily then you may be Greek.

Giovanni and Giovanni were married in Boston, though she later moved to NYC and then NJ after his death.

Did your Ignazio Militello live in Silver Creek? Do you know if he had a brother, Salvatore, born 10 Feb 1886 in Sicily. Salvatore and his wife, Mercuria Zanghi Militello also lived in Silver Creek.

I have "papers" from Stato Civile in Palermo, Sicilia with the following information:
Maria Paggetti was born 1880 to Francesco Paggetti and Antonina Militello in Palermo.(my g.mother)
Antonina Militello married a Dominic Porello in 1902 (my g.g.mother, presumably a remarriage)
Antonina Militello was the daughter of Giuseppe Militello and Marianna Arena. (they would be my g.g.g.parents). These are not actual birth and marriage certificates, but are certificates saying that the certificates exist. Any link to any of these Palermo families?

Seeking information on distant Militello cousins.

Jennie LaManna married a Militello and was widowed. The 1920 census shows her living with her parents, brother Pasquale and his family, sister Rose and her husband Joseph Cisalli and their children, and their cousins the Zappalas (John, Charles, and Charles' family).

I can't find her on the 1930 census, which may mean she remarried.

Her daughters were Lillie (b. 1906 in Massachusetts) and Mary (b. 1906 in New York).

Any info appreciated.

Survivors at that time include his wife, the former Alberta Schiedel of Hamburg; a daughter, Lois J. Irmisch of Amherst; a son, Garry O. of Florida; his mother, Rose Poznanczyk of Angola, and two sisters, Dolores Militello (since passed away) and Betty Zakrzewski.

I am the granddaughter of Katarzyna
Wenckowska & Ignatz Szalasny. I believe that Dolores, Betty & Norbert are the grandchildren or great-grandchildren of Catherine's sister Josephine, I am trying to do a family tree on Katarzyna's side of the family.

I am a Militello through marriage. I have been told that there are relatives in Detroit and in San Francisco.

From what I understand the name "Militello" means "little soldier". At present, I am attempting to put together a family tree. We have a John in the family, (my husband's uncle). Could there be a connection? Write back and let me know.

Wow, you got me. I have no idea. We have some photos of our Millitelo relatives in Italy...no date, no place, only names that I cannot read that well. I know Italy is full of Militellos...I wish I knew!!!!!!

I don't think that we are talking about the same Joe and Leo. My grampa Leo died last year, and I don't know where my Uncle Joe lives. He has not been in contact with our family for years. I believe he now lives in Connecticut. My "Militello" family lives mostly in Michigan.
I am still looking for my Uncle Joe.

I don't know anything about Militello, but I could provide quite a bit of info about the Paggetti Family, only as far as I know the Paggetti family hasn't moved out of the Tuscany area for a good few generations. I would be very interested in sharing more information.

I was just wondering if maybe we were related. My great grandfather Joseph married a women originally named Vincentina Militello or Montella (When they came to America they changed their name twice). Her maiden name was Bumonti. Joseph's father was named Stephen (he probably changed his original name when he got here). Stephen came from Santo Stefano, Italy.

The reason I never sent you a copy is because I saw your dad (somewhere), and he said that Maw-Maw gave each of the siblings a copy of it before she died, so your dad has a copy. I have been researching my grandparents for a while, but only recently learned that my grandfather's mother was a Militello. My grandfather's name was Joseph Agrusa, born in Sicily on December 24, 1878. He died on December 9, 1946, before my birth. He married Maria DiMaggio and had 8 children, my father, Frank, being the youngest. Any info about the Militello/Agrusa connection would be appreciated!

My grandfather, Joseph Militello, married my grandmother, Catherine Rizzo, when she was 15 (or 16); he was about 8-10 years older, as I recall. I'm not sure where they were married. They had 7 children (who lived) -- 5 girls and 2 boys. My dad is the youngest child, born in 1939.

you see my mother was named katherine so i was told and i have a photo of a man unidentified that says love jo
aunt annie on it. so maybe it is another generation with the same names. also i think my adoptive parents named me after a jo and ann hence my adopted name is Jo-Ann. so please if you have any other dates or names i would appreciate it. you can email me direct at worksp@aol.com my mother was probably born around 1929 and father 1915 or so.

That message that you replied to is all messed up. My grandmother was Annie Cecilia (Militello) Nola. Her parents were Joseph and ? Militello. Annie's mother ? (I gave the information with names of everyone to another family member and I can't remember right now) was the Rizzo. Annie's mother's parents were Joseph and Katherine Rizzo. They have long been gone, so I doubt it is the same people. They would be my great great grandparents. I do have dates of births in my other notes if you still want them. I "think" the Rizzo's I am speaking of were from Maringouin, LA. Do you think we may be related? Sorry for the confusion. Pieces of the puzzle come together, and I want to change my messages, but you can't edit old messages.

My grandparents were Joseph Militello and Katherine Rizzo Militello, but their oldest son was a Salvatore Militello, too! Their youngest son was my dad, Don!

Is this Patty Jo??? If it is, HI! It's Missi, Pauline's daughter. Just thought you might want to know that Maw-Maw Nola made a little booklet of her history as far back as she knew it. It is full of memories, drawings, names and dates of births. She has that Joseph was married to Catherine RIZZO at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Roads in Jan. 1917. She was 15, he was 23...yikes!! I have what she wore, who her bridesmaid was, and Joseph's mother's name (Rose Militello). I believe I have found paw-paw's family in Sutera, Italy, and this has taken up alot of my free time, but I always intended on sending a copy of this to yal. Ok I've been on the web looking around getting info on my last name. Growing up I thought I know all the "Militellos" in North America, or have heard of them. My family is big. My father is the oldest of 10 and my g.father is one of 16. I'm not sure what gerenation came here I don't know if my g.g.father did or not.
The point is does anyone know when and where Militellos came to America. Where they located once here. I do know that my family settled in Detriot MI and in some other MI cities. Also I have found out that there are Militellos living in the Detroit area how are not part of My Militello family.
I will get inforation from my family so that I can start to get a picture of "us" however I am interest in tracking other Militello families so that I can build a bigger picture of Militellos in N. America. I would also like to find out what kind of work is most common to "Militello" if any and does it differ from the genral population. Also what is the Meaning of the Name: "Militello" does anyone know?
