Hey there! sorry it took me so long to see this.

That must be him as my grandmother was Hilda, had a son named Ronald Ernest with Ernie. and then she remarried a fellow named Jim (Haswell?).

As far as I know Ronald was the only child. I would very much like to track down his other children (my half siblings - Peter? Caroline?)

I was born in Sunderland but now live in Vancouver BC.

would like to hear more from you carolynvmill@gmail.com

all the best,

CVM

I'm descended from David Mill b 1815 Monikie, son of James Mill and Jane Strachan. He married Euphemia Barrie in Edinburgh, 1851 and they immigrated to Victoria, Australia in 1854. I'd be grateful for any information on the Mill family in Monikie and surrounding area. There seem to be very many of them.

Hi. Their parents were James Mill b. 1824 St Vigeans & Ann Mill (nee Mill) b. 1823 also St Vigeans. James's parents were John & Janet Mill (nee Low), both of Arbroth who had daughters Mary (1816 ish), Anne Strachen (1828) & sons William Corsair (1830) & George (1833). Ann's parents were David & Agnes, there may have been another daughter Agnes. That's all I have. Does this tie in with any of your family?

Is It MILL or MILLS ??? DNA testing seems to have been done

Am curious who is the Amasa MILLER MILLS and also same named MILL listed on the Canada census.

Living near him is a David MILLS.

Amasa answers that his ethnic background is DUTCH.
Is that GERMAN or HOLLAND or ???

On David's reply for his ethnic background says ENGLISH.

Since DNA testing is showing that several descendants have put the George MILLS of Jamaica, LI NY USA as their ancestor, on their pedigrees. Submitted with their DNA sample.

After testing, the several kits are shown to be very different, markers, and haplo groupings.

R and I.

And differ among each other also by several markers.

Am curious again to know if Amasa MILLER MILLS is actually a MILL???

Has anyone tested and matched under MILLS or MILL??

Any one have any insight into these families,

Thank you.

Pat
cw

Did George's family move away from him, because the British invaded New York.

He may be took on Zachariah as his son, in name only.

This is the father of Mariana Franklin Mills who married Philip Dixon. They are the parents of Queenie our grand mother. We live in New Zealand, but clearly from our great grandfather originate from Scotland. I can't see a direct link, but maybe you have a few more pieces of the jigsaw to establish if one exists. The following extract is how we have to date established the Arbroath link.

Captain Alexander Mills, 1866-1882 the Harbour Master, Timaru, was a native of Arbroath, Scotland, 48 years of age. He leaves a wife and seven children fairly provided for. Captain Mills who was alive, but expired soon afterwards. When brought ashore from the lifeboat, he was insensible; but he recovered for a moment, and wanted to walk. He remarked, "Let me alone, I'm all right, boys." He was carried to his home on the cliff, but died on the way. The medical man kept up artificial respiration for an hour and a half, and then used the galvanic battery; but these remedies unfortunately came too late. The verdict of the inquest on his body returned that he died from the effects of submersion in water while in the execution of his duty. A Masonic Lodge member.
May 16 1882: Captain Mills is to be buried this afternoon with Masonic honours.
