Colleen, Jennie Hittson Millsap is my 1st cousin, 2 generations removed. You and I share 3rd Great Grandparents, Jesse Hittson and Mary Ann Beck Hart Hittson. My 2nd Great Grandfather is John Nathan Hittson; your 2nd Grandfather is his brother, William Bedford Hittson. My Great Grandfather is Jesse J Hittson, who first married Donna Martha Millsap in 1874. She died of cancer in 1891. He then married Laura Barker Miller. Jesse and Laura had my grandfather, Hardwick Hittson. My father, Jessie Joe Hittson, was born in 1927.

Rosston Whatley Millsap married Jesse's younger sister, Darthulia Beck Hittson. Sarah Isabelle Millsap married John Bourland Loving. The three families moved together to Fisher County.

John Millsap and Jennie Hittson Millsap are the same generation. I have four children born to this couple: Norma, Mattie, Ross and Minnie. I've only researched Ross, to know that he passed away in British Columbia. Minnie and her family lived in Washington. Mattie stayed in Texas.

Warm Springs, Deer Lodge, Montana was a state hospital and I believe John Millsap died there 19 Apr 1937. He is not listed in the hospital cemetery.
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&GScid=2...;

I have stories and photographs on my family tree of Fuller Millsap and Elizabeth Ann Pollard Millsap & family. There are also photographs of the Millsap Cemetery in Parker, TX on Find A Grave.

Much love,
Vicki

I was aware that John and Jennie moved to Montana and that John became very ill and passed away in a hospital there. Their children stayed in Montana and moved on to Canada. Ross died in Rotan, TX and is buried at the Bellvieu Cemetery in Rotan. I'm also very excited to have a connection with the John and Jennie Hittson Millsap family! The Hittson and Millsap families were well-connected throughout the 19th century.

Much love,
Vicki Hittson

Late in life, this couple moved from Parker County, Texas to Deer Lodge County, Montana. Jennie died in 1934 and John died in 1937. Do any family members know why they made the move? I'm contacting the cemeteries in Anaconda, Montana to see if there are any records of burial.

Thank you for any insights.
Sorry to take soo long to get back to you. Katherine Anna Millsap was never married. I have since gotten a large batch of material on the Millsaps from my husband's cousin. I have run into one interesing puzzle about Thomas Ephraim's marriage to Nattie Louella Louis. It seems that she married a John W. Ott on 18 Oct 1897. I have the marriage licence. Thomas Ephraim married Ella with a bunch of children. Thomas may have addopted Ella's children and Maude was also mentioned in the census list. Isn't Genealogy a fun puzzle. Thank you Mary Hay.

Just saw your post... (ok, I'm a little late on responding!)...
Flavius A. showed up a few different ways in records, including Flavious Armenus and F.A. Millsap probably just due to the person putting the name down incorrectly on the record, or the person who 'translated' it from old writing to computer print.
Flavius's information is below:
b. Nov 10 1832
Bedford, Lawrence Co.,IN.
d. Apr 02 1910
Syracuse, Hamitn, KS
He was buried on 10 Apr 1910 in Syracuse, Hamitn, KS according to this website: http://bmillsap.home.sprynet.com/pafg07.htm#197

Father: Williams Bela Millsaps
b. Jan 10 1797
Green County, TN
d. Aug 15 1855
Decatur Co, IA

Mother: Elizabeth McGuyer
b. Nov 17 1805
Ireland
d.
I read that Isaac's uncle William moved here from Ireland; is that right?

I'm Adela Stephanie Bailey, from Stephen and Marigrace Burrows Bailey, from Gerald and Maryann Millsap Bailey (Charles A.L. and Ovie Crawford Burrows), from Dorothy and (I think) Sam Millsap (I think my mom's grandparents were Kirk and Crawford, from Arkansas). Sam might not be a Millsap, because I can't remember if Sam's last name was Millsap or Brauhn. It's possible she re-married and I can't keep names straight. I don't keep these things in mind, but my Uncle Mike does. I'm sure he'd love to talk to your wife about the lineage and exchange some info. :) His wife also has a Facebook; he's under Michael Millsap, and she's under Juli Bourne Millsap. They've adopted five kids, the oldest Christopher and his four sisters. ^-^

My great-grandmother (Grandma Dot) lives in Florida; pretty sure she and Sam lived there for a while, since my dad grew up in Florida and all my great-uncles are down in the tip.

My great-grandmother is Dorothy Millsap, and I believe her husband's name was Sam. She and my great-uncles live in Southern Florida -- Uncle Reid, Uncle Michael, and Uncle Darell. My grandmother (Maryann) was their sister; pretty sure Melva Parrish is their sister, too. Uncle Mike (under Michael) and Uncle Darell have Facebook pages. I'm pretty sure Uncle Mike is the one doing genealogy.

Grandma Maryann (RIP) had Charles, Stephen, Timothy, Mark, and John. The father of Charlie and Steve (my dad) was Charles Alexander (pretty sure he's from GA, RIP), but our names are Bailey since Maryann divorced him and married Gerald Bailey. Stephen, Charles, Tim, and Mark have Facebook pages. John is married to Gail De La Puente-Bailey, who has a Facebook page.

That's my family, but if you're looking for information, Michael Millsap from Miami, Florida, would be the best person to speak to.

I am looking for any information to tie Martha Jane Millsaps into a family line. She was born in Georgia(perhaps) in 1829 and died in 1915 in Oklahoma. I have it spelled as above but perhaps it is without the 's'. She was married to one of my gggrandfathers, John H(henry) Warren (1826 in GA) about whom we also know nothing. It is if these two just appeared out of nowhere. . .frustrating. These famiies had large numbers of kids and Martha lived a long time and came to Texas with her son, William Henry Warren, and then she died in Ok while she was living up there with a daughter. ANY info!

Delbert and Evelyn were married from some point in time in the late 30's into the 40s when they divorced and Delbert married Pearl Harper. I do not know Evelyn's maiden name or if Wanda might have changed her name. Wanda should have been born in the 1940's sometime. Also, when she was little she went by "Wanda Jo."

ANY information is welcome!!

My ggrandfather was James Henry Millsap (called the Colonel). He and his wife, Flora Ann Bennett, came to TX from Al. in the late 1800s. I've found some info on him. He had several sibs that I'm just now in contact with one of his brother's ggrandsons. The Colonel ended up in east Tx and his nine daughters were 6 of them there and 3 went to west Tx.

James's mother was Matilda Millsap from KY. Have no clue who his father was or what her maiden name was.

Would love to see if anyone on this board might have some info on Matilda W.
1928 obit for Mrs. Dorthulia Hittson Millsap in Texas

Abilene Reporter News
Abilene, Texas
June 10, 1928
Mrs. DORTHULIA B. MILLSAP
Rotan, June 9: Marking the passing of another of the few remaining early day West Texans, the funeral of Mrs. DORTHULIA B. MILLSAP, 64, here Friday afternoon was held by Rev. I. N. ALVIS, Haskell, one of the first ministers to carry on active church work in this section of the state. Rev. WILL PRIDDY, Abilene, pastor of the Highland Home Baptist Church, of which organization the deceased was a member, assisted in the services which were at Rotan Baptist Church. Interment was in Bellview Cemetery. Mrs. Millsap died Thursday night at the home of her only daughter, Mrs. J. R. GREEN, in this city, after having been in bad health for more than a year.

Mrs. Millsap came to Fisher County in 1882 with her husband, R. W. MILLSAP who died in 1904. They arrived three years before the organization of the county. She lived in the country ever since, having been one of the largest marketers of beef cattle during that time.

She was a member of a pioneer family of ranch people. Her father, JOHN HITTSON, a native of Tennessee, came to Texas and settled in Robertson County in 1854. Shortly afterward he moved west and in 1857 helped organize Palo Pinto County and was first sheriff of the county. The pioneering instinct was strong with Hittson and after serving a term as sheriff, carried on in connection with his ranching interests, he established a ranch on Hubbard Creek at a point between where Albany and Breckenridge are now locate. It was at this far advanced outpost of civilization, the farthest west ranch then being operated in this part of Texas, that Mrs. Millsap was born December 7, 1864. Her father operated in Shackelford, Callahan and Stephens Counties for a number of years and about 1870 moved to Colorado. After his death in that state in 1879, his family returned to the Palo Pinto County home and it was there that Mr. and Mrs. Millsap were married May 15, 1882. Immediately following they moved to Fisher County. Mr. Hittson moved to Colorado because of the threats of Indians, with whom he had frequently fought. They had preyed seriously on his cattle.

The funeral was attended by old-timers from several West Texas counties. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. J. R. GREEN of this city; five grandchildren, Mrs. J. C. WATSON of Abilene, Misses DORTHULIA and FRANCES GREEN and HITTSON and JAMES A. GREEN of Rotan; three great-grandchildren, LENA FRANCES and DOROTHY ANN WATSON of Abilene and JOHN ROSS HALE of Rotan.

In addition, four sisters and two brothers are living. They are: Mrs. MARY F. HAYS of Los Angeles, California, JESSE J. HITTSON of Palo Pinto County, Mrs. MARTHA J. CRANMER of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. SALENA V. MOORE of Fort Worth, W. E. HITTSON of Rotan and Mrs. FRANCES BROWN of Denver, Colorado.

Mrs. Millsap had been a member of the Baptist Church for 40 years and was a member of the Rotan chapter of Eastern Star, which order had charge of the services at the grave.
