Hello. Re Isabella Minahan (Oliver). She was my great grandmother's sister. My Great Grandmother was Mary Ellen (Marion) Minahan (md Robert Stewart) who left Victoria and came to South Australia together with Ellen (Nellie) Minahan (md Stuart Walker) and their younger sister Amelia. I have been researching the Minahans, Stewarts and Walkers for many years. Just thought I would say hello.

Rosilyn

Minnier Minnigan Connection

My grandmother, Ellen Jane Minnier (1912-2002) married Edward R. Colestock, Jr. (1912-1978). They were both from the Harrisburg, PA, area, including Perry County, Dauphin County and Cumberland County. They had 7 children: Horace (names after Ellen Jane’s cousin, Horace Gladfelter, of Harrisburg, PA), Irene, Patsy, Edward III, Charles, Sally, and Kathy. (I’ve found that many Colestocks originated from Franklin County and Adams County, PA.) My grandmother, Ellen Jane, was the daughter of William Minnier and Jane Minnigan (1891-1971). They also had other children besides my grandmother, including a daughter, Dorothy, who married an Adolph (I believe they reside in Massachusetts or Connecticut) and a son, William Jr., who married Eleanor Beyer. Bill and Bonnie, as Eleanor was known, lived in Harrisburg, PA, also. I’ve been able to trace a lot of the Colestocks, but I’m stuck on the Minniers and the Minnigans. I’ve been told William Minnier was a bootlegger and gambler who hung out with the likes of Pretty Boy Floyd, Machine Gun Kelly and Baby Face Nelson. (Luckily, I have ministers on the Colestock side, as well as my mom’s family for some balance….LOL) Can anyone help with the Minnier or Minnigan lines?

John and Mary (SHIELDS) MINAHAN of Johnstown, Cambria Co., PA

Looking for MINAHAN family from Johnstown, Cambria Co., PA. My research shows John MINAHAN (b.1806 Ireland)and Mary SHIELDS (b.1816 Ireland) of County Limerick, Ireland came to America about 1844. They lived a time in Troy, NY before making their way to Johnstown, PA. They had at least two children, Patrick, born in Ireland and John, unknown place of birth. The family is documented in the book, "HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA by Henry Wilson Storey with Genealogical Memoirs". I am researching this family for a friend and do not personally have a connection to them.

He married a Mary McNamara in Brighton Vic. in 1859, she is also from Co.Clare and was also born c. 1833. Death details of his mother Annie (Hannon) and Father Janes Mina(e)han.
Minahan/Minnehan/Moynihan from Chelsea, MA

All three of those spellings were in the Chelsea Catholic Church (forget the name of the church) records when the baptisms of their children were recorded. My ancestor is Cornelius Minahan/etc, born in Ireland around 1820. His daughter was Ellen, born in Ireland in 1851. this is my G-G-Grandmother. She married John P. Shea in 1870 in Chelsea, MA.

I don't know much about Cornelius--if indeed he came to the states with his wife & daughter or if she came alone. It would be great to find anything out, I've exhausted the resources at the MA state archives.

I have recently made a connection with my Minihane tree and Minihanes that emigrated to Australia. Denis Minihane married Mary Keohane, both from an area south of Skibbereen in southwest County Cork, Ireland, in 1854 in this area. They had children that went to Australia, and when Denis died, Mary and the other children moved to Australia. It seems they might have settled in Western Australian. Denis and Mary had children, born in the 1850s, 1860s and 1870s: Michael, Daniel, Andrew, Annie, and maybe a Margaret.
Am interested in making connection with anyone else who has these folks in their family tree, or knows anything about them.

My Minihanes are from County Cork, near and around Skibbereen and Baltimore (Ireland) in the southwest corner of the country. I am surprised to see the Minihane's mentioned that are from Limerick and County Clare. I was told by my Minihane's still in Ireland that most Minihanes came from the southwest (looks like from the west as well).
Only one Minihane relative (who married) immigrated to the US - Michael, born in January 1863. He married Ellen Whooley in Ireland, then came to Boston - changed his name to Monahan, and had three children: Florence (female), Mary and Andrew. Andrew married a Mary Cunningham and had six children. The only info I have on these children is that the first was a female, Mary, who married a Jon Farrow.
If you have any connection with these Minihanes or those in southwest Ireland, please contact me.
