Daniel Miner, Gwinnett County, Georgia civil war period

I just completed documentation on Daniel Miner’s life during the civil war. Daniel lived in Gwinnett Ga in 1850 and enlisted in the Army of Tennessee on the 4th of Aug 1862.

The document is 40 pages of pictures and facts on the family during that period of time. It includes letters from family members which sheds a lot of light on their experiences. Some letters are exerts taken from the book: “In care of Yellow River: the complete civil war letters of Pvt. Eli Pinson Landers to his Mother” by Elizabeth Whitley Roberson.

If you are interested in this document, please contact me at: mnor@cox.net
Hi, my name is Frank Alexander. I am trying amongst other things to fill in the family tree of a William Miner who was my grandfather Prentice's business partner at Miner & Alexander Lumber Co., 150 Howard St., New London Ct from the Depression years through the mid-1960s. (Photo enclosed of the lumber yard, closed since 2004.) I have reason to believe Bill was a distant cousin as well, related to Mary Ann Miner who married my GGGgrandfather William Rodman Alexander's brother Thomas Jefferson Alexander in 1830 in Groton CT. (Thomas and MaryAnn had at least two children: Thomas Benjamin in 1836 and Mary Jane, b. ?)

I'd look forward to any information you might provide in this direction, as your Miners are from the same time and general area.

Thanks - Frank Alexander
Fort Myers, Fla.

Hi,

I'm looking for anyone that may be related to or knows anything about William D Miner, born July 28, 1917 in Missouri. He was the son of Louranzy D Miner and Nancy (Weeks) Miner.

He was a crewman on a B-24 bomber and was killed August 7, 1944 in China. I'm related to another of the men on the plane and have been in contact with relatives of a few more of the crewmen. I'd like to share what I've learned about the men and their military service with Miner's relatives.

Thanks,

Eric

William MINER b. abt 1781 Connecticut married Huldah PECK b. abt 1783 Connecticut

I am looking for any information on the following family:

William Miner b. abt 1781, Connecticut. William married Huldah Peck b. abt 1783, Connecticut. Huldah is the daughter of Eliakim Peck b. 1759 Southington, Connecticut.

William and Huldah had at least three sons:
William Miner Jr. b. abt 1807 Connecticut
Levi C. Miner b. 1818 New York
Jeremiah Miner b. 1820 New York

It is possible more children were born, however I have census and vital records validating these 3 boys.

Levi is my descendant. It states on his Michigan death record that his parents were William Miner and Hulda Peck both born in Connecticut.

In the 1840 Federal Census they are living in York, Livingston County, New York
In the 1850 Federal Census they are living in Mount Morris, Livingston County, New York
In the 1860 Federal Census Huldah, William Jr. and Jeremiah are living in Mount Morris, Livingston County, New York. This leads me to beleive that William Sr. died between 1850 and 1860.

I beleive that Huldah and her brother James Peck married siblings, both listed as Miner's with unknown first names in the book on Joseph Peck's descendants. Those names are not unknown any more. I beleive my William married Huldah and that James married a Sally Miner b. bet 1780-1785.

I would greatly appreciate any information that could solidify any of my information, as well as knowing the names of William Miner's parents and whether or not William and Sally Miner were siblings. Additionally, if anyone has any information on who Huldah and James' mother was, I would be greatful.

Thank you!
Jason

You may check the will of Thomas Minor who died in 1802, recorded in Jessamine County Kentucky, Will Book A, page 67, showed his children to be Sally Minor who married John Starr, John Minor (the reverend)who married Mary Graham, Robert Minor who married Martha Skeen, Charles Minor who married Nancy Moss and Thomas Minor. John Miner was born in PA in 1775 and came to Jessamine COunty KY in the late 1780's with his family. Probably connects back to Thomas Miner from CT in 1630's.

Trying to identify full name, birth location, and parents of Malvina Williams (b 1854), wife of Thomas Miner (b 1848, Stonington, New London, CT, parents Thomas Miner and Mary Elizabeth Green). The Thomas Miner Society website shows Malvina married Thomas in 1872 in Stonington and shows her place of birth as Noank, New London, CT, but the 1880, 1910, and 1920 US censuses list her birthplace as New York; the 1900 US census shows birthplace as Connecticut. I could not find an 1860 Census that seemed to match her. The 1870 US census lists a Malvine Williams, age 16, birthplace CT, in the household of Henry E. Davis in Groton, New London, CT, but I do not know whether or not this is the Malvina who married Thomas Miner and it still does not answer my questions if it is her. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Paul

Are you still out there? If so please respond so we can connect about Benjamin F. Miner. My GG Grandfather was a Benjamin F. Miner too. He married a Kezia Whipple of the New England Whipples. Their daugther (Minnie Frances Miner was either born in Vermont or Massachusetts or just over the boarder in Qubec. I've never been able to find another true link to my Miners/Minors. Her family believe her father had been a Henry or John but her marriage cert give Benjamin F. as her father. Minnie (b.1868-1872 d.1946) was married(to Hereford Berry of North Andover, Essex MA) in Boston by a Rev. Miner...Odd coincidence. I can only find your B F M and one other that were the same age. Perhaps they were cousins? I'd really like to chat if you're available. If anyone else has something on this name please feel free to respond.
Thanks, Karin Berry

My husband's great grandfather was Ora Miner, Ina's older brother. There were 8 children I believe: Ora, Ina, Leo, Rio, May, Zoe, Ada, and Guy. Mary Jane and George Rufus are buried in Brookings, SD. So is their son Leo. Ora moved back to PA before he died and is buried there. Ora lived in PA, CO, TX and back in PA. He was a Methodist minister and a photographer. He taught at SMU and was also the photographer for the University. Ora's oldest son, also named George Rufus Miner, moved from TX to LA. Ora Miner married Dora Elizabeth Foulke and they had 5 children- 2 boys and 3 girls: George Rufus, Marian Ann, Lewise Ellison, Paul Gordon, Strelza Marie. Would love to know more info on the other brothers and sisters.

We are searching for any information regarding our grandfather, Howard Warren Miner, who was born in Winona, Minnesota in 1890 and his father's name may be Samuel or Warren and his mother's name is Ida. He had a brother by the name of Frank Ernest Miner who we believe was in public office. Any help would be most appreciated.
