Looking for any connections to Edward Minister. Married to Lydia Cowles. Children were baptized in St. Nicholas church in Great Yarmouth. One source indicates that Edward was born in 1794 in Bury, St. Edmonds and is a relative of Charles Minister, who was born in Haddiscoe abt 1802.

Am looking for any relatives of Robert Henry Minister, b 1813 in Great Yarmouth. Baptised in St. Nicholas Church. His father was Edward Minister and his mother was Lydia Cowles. His sister Sophia and brothers Reuben and George all migrated to the U.S. and are buried in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a realtion to Charles Minister who lived in London, but who listed his birthplace as Hadiscoe, Norfolk, England. Please contact me with any information:

I am the great-great-grandaughter of Charles Wogenstahl, born 3 Jul 1861 and died 27 Mar 1945. I believe that Nellie Pinger was his second wife. Louise Nieman Wogenstahl was his third wife and married to him at the time of his death Louise was born 18 Jun 1862 and died 21 Feb 1947. They are buried in a companion grave in Spring Grove Cemetary in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have copies of the cemetary records for them, if anyone is interested.

I am the great-granddaughter of Henrietta Wogenstahl Minister and of George Edward Minister. Their daughter, Vera M. Minister Ritter is my grandmother and Edward Morris Ritter, Sr. is my grandfather. Betty Jane (Elizabeth) Ritter Kincaid Cox is my mother. I can provide some information regarding the family.

I noticed you have a Margaret Irington in your tree. Do you have any further info on this family as I have traced two in my own tree in the UK but cannot find them in any census records other than a wedding in Hertfordshire in 1839?

The parents of Robert Henry Minister and Ruben Cowles Minister are Edward Minister and Llydia Cowles. The parents of Mahala Barber are John Barber and Rebecca Pedrick. Robert, Ruben, Edward and Lydia were born in England. Mahala and Rebecca were probably born in PA. John was probably born in NJ. This info I received from a cousin. I descend from Ruben and Mahala. I have Henrietta Wogenstahl (b. September 06, 1882 in NJ, d. June 06, 1966 in Cincinnati) and married to George E. Minister; parents of Henrietta Wogenstahl were:

Charles Joseph Wogenstahl (b. July 03, 1861 Bitschwiller, Haut-Rhin, France, d. March 27, 1945, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH, bur. March 31, 1945 Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH).

Nellie Pinger (b. July 12, 1869, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH; d. September 06, 1915, bur. September 09, 1915, Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH).

Henrietta had a brother, Harry C. Wogenstahl, b. Abt. 1901

Henrietta is in the 1900 Census Soundex Index, Reel 369, W-252 James to W256 Wilhelmina. Shows her parents on that Soundex.

Did Henrietta marry George E. Minister May 13, 1903, Hamilton, Butler Co., OH? This shows on a search at:

George E.Minister married Henrietta Wogenstahl
b.26 May 1873 b. 6 Sept. 1882
d.16 Nov. 1950 d.6 Jun. 1966
they are buried in Wesleyan Cem. in Cinci.
George was in Long? state hospital.
Henrietta's parents were Charles Wogenstahl and Margaret Irington

check that. your George E. Minister was the son of Charles E. Minister, who died in 1906 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Charles E. was the son of, you guessed it: George E. Minister Sr., who was born in 1819 in Great Yarmouth, England, and died in 1875 in Cincinnati, Ohio. His father was named Edward.

George E. Minister died 11-16-1950 and is buried in Cincinnati Weslyn Cemetery. Henrietta Minister, "wife of George" died in 1966 at the age of 83. Not certain who the father of George E. is at this point, but it is not the Charles that I am looking for, although he is probably related. The Charles that I am looking for was born in 1795 in London, and died in Zaleski, Ohio in 1876. This is a good link though, and I am delighted to add another piece to the puzzle. The names George and Charles are quite common in the Minister family tree so it's hard to say without detailed records who the father of George E. is, but my guess is that he is the son of Joseph Minister, the son of Reuben, who was originally from Great Yarmouth, England, on the east coast of England. There is also a George E. Minister who died in 1875 in Cincinnati. I'm sure there is some relation since the surname is so unusual and rare. For some reason, probably economic, they all came to Ohio.

Could your Charles be the father of George E. Minister b. abt.1873 OH mar. Henrietta or "Yetta" unk. b. 6 Sep 1882 NJ, daughter Vera Minister b. 1905 OH, mar. Edward M. Ritter Sr. b. 11 Sep 1896 OH. Children: Jean b. 5 Apr 1923, Elizabeth "Betty" b. abt 1923-4, Mary B. abt 1927, James "Jimmy" b. 22 Aug 1929, Edward Jr. b. 12 Dec 1932, William "Bill" b. 3 Nov 1933.?? all born in Ohio, I think.

Vera was on the 1910 Census with her parents in Cincinnati.

Also, he was listed in Maryland Infantry in Civil War, Company A 11th Maryland Infantry and Company I and also in Pennsylvania Infantry where he became a corporal Company C, and also listed as a Lovering Minister 6th Infantry 33 Pa. Corporal.

No, I have tried to find the parents of Levering Minister. He is listed in the 1850 census Philadelphia Southwark, Ward 4 under the name Lewering Minister. W mistaken for V. He is aged 16 born in Pa and living with Leopold Lemmens Sp?, aged 33 born in Belguim with wife Mary born in Delaware and children. Leopold is a tinsmith so also is Levering so he was probably learning the trade. There is no other Minister listed in Philadelphia in 1850 census or in 1840 census either. Need to figure family out. He had children, Charles and Robert, Ann and others.

robert h. minister from england was granted citizenship in philadelphia in 1836. he went on to cincinnati, oh and then new orleans. he had a brother named reuben, who married a mahalia (sic) barber of philadelphia in the 1830s. according to my records they had four children: charles, joseph, sophia & mary. perhaps there is a connection somewhere. do you know the parents of levering minister?

i have family tree information for charles f. minister. yes, henry minister, from zaleski was one of his sons. i have done extensive research and have a lot of information. jane robson was the wife of charles f. minister. her father, john robson, died in zaleski, and is buried in oak grove cemetery, along with charles and jane. please respond if you need information. i am looking for the link between charles minister (b.1795)and edward minister of great yarmouth, england. any help would be appreciated.

Reuben Minister

I am trying to find information on the descendants of Reuben Minister. He came to the US from England and married Mahala Barber of Philadelphia. They moved to Cincinnati, OH and had four children, Charles, Joseph, Sophia, and Mary.Reuben died on September 4, 1847 and is buried in the Wesleyan Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH.
Mahala and the four children returned to Philadelphia, where she remarried.
Charles had no children. Joseph married Margaret Appel and they had three children, Ida, George and Joseph.
Sophia married William Cruger and they had three children, Annie, William, and Agnes.
Mary married George Archer and they had two children, David and Edna.
I would appreciate any leads to the descendants of these Ministers.

Searching for connection between the Charles Minister family and the William Robson family. John and Jane Robson lived in Zaleski and I suspicion that Jane's maiden name was Minister. Any help will be appreciated.

I suspicion that Jane Robson was a sister to my great-great grandfather, William Robson. William and his family came to Athens County, OH in 1774 from England. My uncle once told me many years ago that our Robson family had relatives in Zaleski named Minister. I have found an old grave in the Zaleski cemetary for a John Robson whose wife was also named Jane (Stevenson). On the 1870 and 1880 census, these Robsons lived close to the Minister family. Wish I had a definite connection proof.

My Great Grandfather (Henry Minister) is a son of Charles Frederick Minister and Jane Robson Minister. My Great Grandfather was born 12/04/1861 in Zaleski Ohio. Cahrles was born 07/10/1820 in London England, Married Jane 03/15/1854. There are at least 8 children, Margaret, Henry, George, Charles, Luisa, John, Alfred and Edward.
