My name is Kathy Gutierrez. I am researching my husband's family. His grandmother is Altagracia Miramontes b. 1909, and she was from Totatiche, Jalisco. Her father was Ramon Miramontes b. 1887. They came to the US in 1926. She had two sisters, Maria de los Angeles and Avelina. We do not know their mother's name. After they met again in the US, Altagracia married Emilio Valdivia b 1899 who was also from the area. He was a seminarian at the Totatiche Seminary at the time of the Cristeros and had to leave or be killed. If you know any of the Miramontes family in Totatiche, I would greatly appreciate any help in learning more about this family.

Im not familiar with the Miramontes that moved to San Joaquin area..but Miramontes from Half Moon Bay I do. My great great grandmother was a Miramontes from Half Moon Bay. The name Patricio Miramontes does not ring a bell with me. Three men received land grants, they moved their family to what was then named Spanish Town now named Half Moon Bay..and built their homes and raised their families. The Miramontes family was one of those families..

Feel free to email me.. you might also post a message here for Marian Works.
Laura
lara5@hotmail.com

Miramontes(z) in San Joaquin, California

I'm looking for a branch of the Miramontes family that moved from the Half Moon Bay, CA area to San Joaquin in around 1886 or earlier. I'm actually looking for my great grandfather Patricio Miramontez born 1852 in California. My dad says he was from the San Joaquin area but I've never had much luck finding him. My grandmother used to tell a story about her family owning land near Half Moon Bay (and losing it in a poker game. Today I found a reference to a Pablo Miramontes who moved to San Joaquin with his father Jose in approx 1886 from around Palo Alto. I'm trying to find out if my Patrico is any relation to Jose and Pablo. I have in my records that Patricio's parents were Peter Miramontez and Thomasa Flores (but no documentation supporting that).
Thanks for any help-
Deb Murray

Re: Nazario MIRAMONTES & wife Feliciana GONZALES of San Lorenzo, Chihuahua

If you are sure (or have a high confidence level) that Florencio Miramontes and Rosalia Estrada married at San Francisco de Borja the best course of action it to look at Family History Library Films 1222905 (Church Records) and 2052491 (Civil Records). As it appears Rosalia was born about 1890 they must have married say 1906 to 1916. You are lucky because there are both the church and civil records for this time period. Most of the time they record the parents of bride and groom and if they did not you still have two chances. Let me know if you have a Morman Church near by to do this. If not I might be able to help you with it.

If Florencio was born in Santa Isabel the challenge there is there are hugh gaps in the church records. The baptisms still exist for 1898 to 1828, 1855 to 1860, and 1885 onward which leaves a lot missing. However if you can find his parents from one of his two marriages to the Estrada sisters the churchbook gap can be overcome. Santa Isabel is so close to the town of Carretas that I often find familes actually having baptisms off an on at both parishes which also helps fill the gap.

My guess and it is only a guess is that Florencio's parents are either Ramon Miramontes & Rafaela Chavez, or Refugio Miramontes & Manuela Chavez. I see these two couples having children baptised in the Santa Isabel, Carretas, Cusihuriachi area in the mid 1860's. Again the best course of action is to find one of Florencio's marriage records as it will tell you a lot of information. One might even be able to call the Presidencia in San Francisco de Borja and have them look in the Civil Register for you. SFdB is a small place and relative isolated so they might have the time to check for you.

Another angle is to track down your mother's birth certificate from Mexico or that of one of her brothers or sisters. They normally have the names of not only the parents but also the grandparents (and I have found they always do in the civil side). That would reveal the names of both Florencio's parents as well as Rosalia's. If for example you know your mother was born in Chihuahua City that record should still exist and would be valuable to you.

The 1910 to 1920 period in Chihuahua State was very unstable due to the revolution so people moved around quite a bit so it not unusual to find families suddenly very dispersed from where they originated.

Your Florencio Miramontes is living in Chihuahua City in the 1930 Census age 64 along with Rosalia who is shown as age 40. They appear to have four children. See attached file (hopefully attached). If not try "familysearchlabs.org" and do a search for him and you will find it.

Have you looked for the marriage record of Florencio Miramontes Chavez & wife Rosalia Estrada? If they married at San Francisco de Borja it should be on LDS Film #1222905 and in all likelyhood it will tell you the parents of the bride and groom.

Perhaps you already know who Florecio's parents are. If you do please share with me. I have copies of all the early Santa Isabel Churchrecords here at the house. I also have many of the Carretas Churchrecords on loan at the local church. In addition I have census records for the area for 1827, 1821, 1803, 1788. If you know the parents of either Florencio or his wife Rosalia there is very good chance I can help you quite a bit. I am sure it can all be pieced together so let me know what else you know about Florencio and Rosalia.

I'm impressed with this information that provide since th 1800's. Some of the last names are familiar with my ancestors from my mothers side. On the top of that the same town where her grandparents and her father (my grandfather) were born, Totatiche, Jalisco. First my mothers grandfather is Jose Guadalupe Miramontes Gaeta and Grandmother us Gaudelia Valdez Gaeta, what a coincidence don't you think?
Do you live in Mexico?
I'm searching for my roots since my mom doesn't know a lot about her family.

Please email me at m3lazy@yahoo.com
Thank You!

Miramontes is a large family. I'm also in this family as my great great grandmother was Miramotes who married into the Sibrian family. My Miramontes ancestors settled in Half Moon Bay.

lara5@hotmail.com

Miramontes Family History

Hello. I am in the beginning stages of my genealogy work and am looking for any information anyone may be able to provide to fill in the blanks. The information I have so far is:
Pedro Miramontes married Herculana Soria. One of their sons was Delfin Miramontes Soria who married Maria Cruz Torres in Huejuquilla El Alto Jalisco Mexico. I have an unconfirmed date of Delfin's death, 1940. One of their sons was Jesus Miramontes Landa born in Huejuquilla El Alto Jalisco Mexio, who married Consuelo Landa Pacheco. Jesus and Consuelo had 2 childred: Jesus J. Miramontes Landa born 07/04/58 in Huejuquilla El Alto Jalisco Mexio and Maria Olga Miramontes Landa also born in Huejuquilla El Alto Jalisco Mexio.
One of Delfin & Maria's other sons was Delfino Miramontes Cruz born July 6, 1941 in Huejuquilla El Alto Jalisco Mexico. Delfino married Consuelo Landa Pacheco, his brother's widow, on October 12, 1961, Tijuana BC Mexico. Delfino died May 19, 2000 in San Diego, CA.
Delfino & Consuelo had 3 children all born in Tijuana BC Norte Mexico:
Jose born 09/27/61
Martha born 11/24/63
and Sigifredo 10/02/66
Sigifredo married Dawn Marie Miller 12/26/98 in San Diego, CA. Dawn was born 04/19/64 Tacoma, WA. They have one son, Alejandro Miller Miramontes born 11/07/99 in San Diego, CA.
Any prior history that is available at all would be a huge help. Thank you in advance.
