I don't know if you are still out there. I found a post while cruising around the internet. I happen to know The Arellano family. In fact I am married to one of Candido and Ramona's grandsons. There were actually nine children. Three are still living. Jesus,Julio, Elmo, Lumberto, Elissa, Hortencia, Lilly, Ofelia and my father-in-law the youngest Henry. Henry is now in his late 80's. He, Ofelia (Babe) and Lilly are the three surviving children. In the past few months both the sisters have gone to live in retirement homes. Up to the last few years they lived in Superior Az. Which is where they relocated to all those years ago. Henry has lived in San Diego Ca for most of his adult life. He is a wonderful man. I am very blessed to have him in my life. I would love to hear more about your connections to my family. My husband and I have two children and a grandchild. I have been trying to get a little family history to pass down to them. Daddy has such wonderful memories of being on the ranch with his father.

Regrettably, I do not believe so. I've already run through that possibility a while back- too many differences at the level above Adrian. For example, my Adrian's father is most definitely Felix, not Felicito. Also, my Adrian's mother is Aurora Perez, not Maria. Additionally, tracing the lines of descent between Felix-Aurora and Felicito-Maria makes it even less likely so. What makes it so frustrating is the commonality of certain names- both first and last- within the same municipalities. It's almost like the ancient Romans!

However, I have been in contact with another Miranda who is most definitely related to your Adrian. If you like, I will forward you her ancestry ID.

My mother's great uncle's name was Adrian Miranda Perez from Ciales. Brother of Jesus Miranda Perez and son of Felícito Miranda Rivera and María Pérez Vélez. Could there be any relation?

Yes familysearch.org did have several birth/death baptism & marriage documents, but they are hard to search, page by page since most of them are not indexed yet. Good luck on your search & I will let you know if any connection is found. Judy

I see that you have Miranda's from Magdalena, Sonora Mexico in your family. I was wondering if you have come across a Simona Miranda born abt. 1845 and a Miguel Garcia born abt. 1840. They were married in Santa Maria Magdalena, Sonora,Mexico on 21 Jan 1863. I see they then moved to Los Angeles California in 1880’S. Do you have them in your tree and did your family move to California?

Hi. I'm looking for information about my ancestor whose last name was Miranda who came to Puerto Rico from Las Canarias, Spain. His wife's maiden name (I think 2nd marriage) was Ríos, and his son was Aniceto Miranda Ríos whom Barriada Miranda is named for. My grandmothers people are also Miranda's from Naples Italy (San Giuseppe Area) Her family mostly settled in Brooklynn New York. Not sure about extended family/relatives. I know her grandfather was referred to as Doddi. Could this be something passed down? My grandmother is Maria Concetta Miranda whose parents were Michael Miranda and Margaret Catapano. Michael's father was Giuseppe Miranda. Michael had a sister named Caroline and a brother named Frank along with other siblings. Any information that you may have on these people would greatly help my search. It looks like my great great grandparents (above) would have come over from Naples Italy arount 1900-1910ish. Giuseppe has a daughter named Carolina, a son named Michael, and another son named Louis. There are other children as well. Also Giuseppe is widowed and later marries Concetta ???
Please help me with the missing pieces if you can. Any ideas are welcome.

Yes I believe Miranda is originally a Spanish name however my family is also from Naples. What are your family members names. Possibly we are related. I am trying to locate Giuseppe Miranda and his parents.
You may want to look up the History of Marranos as well. Google it with Miranda and read the History. It appears that many Jews who later became Mirandas were in the Marranos group.

was your father italain or mexican? a huge contingent of Miranda's came from Mexico, El Cargadero Area, they were very light complection some blue eyed and blond or sandy hair, need more info, would be interesting to see who he really is

In case you are not yet aware of this many Mirandas were Marrano's, a name forced upon them as a cruel derogatory statement. They were Jews forced to convert to or die. Maranno or any variation means pig. I am wanting to find out if my Miranda's were Marranos. If you have any proof of this please let me know as it may help me out. What documents do u have with Marrano on it?

Marranos is the name that was forced upon many of the Mirandas. Before they were forced to change their names and convert they were Jews. Marrano is a pig so they were called pig as a cruelty twds them. You can research this further by googling things. they are considered conversos. Forced to convert or die. I am looking for proof that my family of mirandas were conversos from Marranos name. Can you tell me how old the birth certificate is and what location it is from. Hello! This is sounding very familiar. My g. grandmother is Carmen Miranda and she had a sister named Ana (also called Anita). She had an older brother named Juan. I found them in the 1910 census along with Ernesto, Rafael, and Teodomiro. I have a story about Teodomiro ("Mirito") being blind.

I have their parents as Socorro Alvarez Otero and Juan Miranda Roman based on the marriage certificate from my g. g. grandparents (Carmen Miranda and Pablo Marrero).

Please reply, as there are so many similarities. Where do you have the information about the father's name being Atanacio? I'm very curious!

Hello, Many years ago my mother (miranda) her maiden name, my last name told me a story about her father or grandfather's might have originated in Spain as well. My mother is up in age and her memory isn't what it used to be. If i recall she also mentioned that her grandfather or greatgrandfather was from Spain and married a french woman. After marriage they either migrated to Mexico or south America. I believe this gentleman might of even been in the Spanish army. My mother Ramona was born in Gallup, NM in 1923. She had a sister named Inez and another sibling who either died at birth or shortly thereafter.

I know your father attended Mesa Junior High School sometime in the 1950's. I teach at the school and was looking at some old yearbooks and saw his picture. Of course I was drawn to the name due to the Miranda Rights. He also attended Queen of Peace school in Mesa. You must have been very young when he died. I hope you have been able to find some information on him.

I am looking for information on my great grandfather Carlo MIRANDA. He was born in Italy, around 1884 and he came over to Ellis Island when he was 16 years on a ship called Hesperia. The date of the ship’s arrival was April 05th, 1900 and his port of departure was Naples. I do not know his date of death. His last place of residence was Arpaia.
I know he married Angela CARBONE, my great grandmother, who also came over from Italy to Ellis Island. She arrived at Ellis Island March 1st 1906 when she was 20 years old. The ship she came on was Liguria and it deported from Napoli. Her last place of residence was Spinassola.
Together they had 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls, one of which was my grandfather Charles MIRANDA who was born on April 27, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York. The other siblings were Carmine (Chico nickname), Henry, Anthony, Camille, and Rose. My grandfather Charles MIRANDA married my grandmother Jane LARSON who was born on July 22 1921 in New York City. I do not know much about other relatives or ancestors before them. Any information on him or his family would be greatly appreciated!

BERLIN CENTER, Ohio – Richard Augie Miranda Sr., 77, passed away peacefully at home Jan. 27, 2011, after his brave battle with cancer.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Margaret (Peg) and his eight children, Diane Robbins (Rob) of Deerfield, Frank Miranda Sr. (Shirley) of Berlin Center, Denise Coulter of Austintown,Ohio Christine VanKleeck (Kim) of Columbiana, Ohio, Diana Cecchini (Gary) of Canfield,Ohio, Dr. David Miranda of Troy, Ohio, Melinda Smith of Newton Falls, Ohio and Richard A. Miranda Jr. (Karen) of Mainville.

Richard also leaves behind 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Andrews.

Richard was born Aug. 10, 1933, and grew up in Brier Hill,a section of Youngstown, Ohio a son of Augie and Helen (Molnar) Miranda.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. As a chemist in the Research and Development Center of General Tire in Akron,Ohio he held several patents for his work there. He retired in 1999, after 35 years of service.

Richard was a member of Charity Lodge No. 530, a retired volunteer fireman with the Berlin Center Fire Department, and he loved gardening, woodworking and fishing.

There will be no funeral services or calling hours for Richard, and the family asks that any gifts or donations be made to the Hospice of the Valley.
