My mother's family name is Mise. My great grandfather is as far back as I can go. His name was Jesse S. Mise and he and his brother Lewis Mise settled in Lee County VA but indicated on census reports that their parents came from NC. Their father's name may have been John and mother's name may have been Kesiah or Kesian. I think that they probably originated from Wythe Co, VA.

MAYBE ABLE TO HELP WITH YOUR SEARCH-MY MOTHER WAS A "MISE" MOST ARE IN MECKLENBURG CO. VA. BEEN DOING OUR RESEARCH FOR A FEW YEARS NOW-PITTSSYLVANIA CO. IS NOT FAR FROM MECKLENBURG AND BRUNSWICH CO. MY GRANDFATHER,HUTCHENSON 1867-G-GRANDFATHER-HENRY 1845 AND GGGRANDFATHER WILLIAM 1828-FOUND HIM WHEN I CHANGED THE SPELLING TO -MIZE

I am descended from Robert MIX b. 1817 in Washington Co.MD who had son John b. 1824 and was listed on 1850 Census, 9th District Berkeley Co.VA as Robert MISE--thought it a handwriting problem because the name is shown as MIX on all other records--birth, marriage, census, etc.

However, in trying to establish who these Mix descended from, I find it back in New Haven CT in 1600's tracing back to a Thomas MEEK/MEEKS in London.

Even though my Robert Mix married Ary Trout, a German, none of their children have especially German names except for Jacob, which was the name of Ary's father.

Have been looking for Robert MIX/MISE parents for 30 years!

I'm looking for any information on the Mise family in Virginia. James Mise was married to Nancy Shackleford and they lived in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. They had several children, but I can't find any information on any other family members, i.e. parents, siblings. Please respond if you have information on anyone with the surname Mise.

I am looking for any information you may have on Thomas James Mise married to Mary Elizabeth Taylor. I know they had a daughter Kate Irene Mise who married John Anderson King in Virginia.
