Actually, there is a town in Montalbo, Spain. The translation would means, " Mountain People" our crest is a blue feild with a white eagle. The name has changed thourgh history.

Hi. My dad's name was Jose Mariano Montalvo, and his family was either from Lares or Utuado. He was born in 1906. The only thing I know is that his father's name was Leon Montalvo and he married Cecilia Rodriguez also from this area. My dad's brothers and sisters names were Mercedes Montalvo, Otilia Montalvo, (born in the 1090's), Jose Francisco "Pepe" Montalvo, "Pancho" Montalvo. My dad, Pepe, Otilia and their mom moved to NY poss in the early 40's. He worked for AMerican Airlines with the Sky Chefs company in NY and had married my mom from the Barbosa Ramirez family in Lares. Does any of this ring a bell for you?.

Hilario was born abt. 1875 in Mexico
Julia was born abt. 1877 in Mexico, also.
Their daughters were Paula (Hillgenberg-Clemens?) b. abt. 1895 and Isabel (Lopez) b. 14 Dec 1898 in Mexico d. 11 Jun 1985 in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California. There may be more children?

My grandmother was Juana Toro y Montalvo (b. 1886) from Lajas, her mother was Maria de los Angeles Montalvo y Zapata. That is as far back as I have gotten with her so far.

I am helping my grandmother learn more about her mother's family who originated from Linares Spain. My great/great grandmother is Jacinta Martinez Cobo and her husband is Francisco Montalvo Rangel (Ransel?). They immigrated to Maui in 1912/13 Any info about this family would be wonderful. I do know my great grandmother had many brothers and sisters (I do know their names) and some of those siblings went back to Spain later in their life. Can anyone help??

Hi, I've been trying to look up the same surname (Montalvo) which is my mother's side of family (Arlene Montalvo)It's a large group of family my relatives and mother's relative says!
My mom's dad (Angel L. Montalvo - 56)were raised with 18-19 brothers and sisters! Also, as I go visit half of my Monatlvo family in NJ, I've met my mother's aunt, and my mother's uncle's.

jose nicomenes montalvo ramirez. he was born in cabo rojo around 1914 and died in 1994. and lived and died in mayaguez both towns are about 25 minutes drive form san german. his whole life he was called santo montalvo any info please email me

Raquel,

The name Montalvo is originally from France/Spain and the translation back then for (Montalvo) was for the people that hide in the MOUNTAINS. They did this (hidding) because the catholic church was chasing these group of people for their religious believes. The Montalvos didn't agree with the rules of the Church back then.

The Montalvos from Europe migrate to sout america, central american and some to north america. People think I look italian so the montalvos can be a mix of french, spanish and italian.

I am a Montalvo. I was told as a child that Montalvo comes from the mountains in Spain, and means White Mountain. My Grandparents came from Puerto Rico, and would probably be astounded to hear that someone has said that their surname is from Lebanon. HA! However, there are a TON of Montalvo's from Mexico. Hope this helps some.
