Could this be true? We have been looking for years, we would love info and photos. So, is ycmontez related or not? If you can e-mail me or call me. My e-mail is <a href="mailto://juanrgsd@yahoo.com">juanrgsd@yahoo.com</a>. It would be a great b-day gift to my mom. Please contact me by e-mail and if you can provide me with your phone number I would rather talk. But, if you only want to talk via e-mail that will be fine also. I hope and pray we are talking about the same person. Let me know ASAP so I can call my mother. God bless

There are 6 of us still alive, just recently lost one of my brothers to an accident. I have 22 nieces and nephews and 35 great nieces and nephews. I can provide information regarding my dad to those interested and we would love to get to know our other siblings.
(ycmontez)obviously your father is my mother's half brother, because I didn't say anything about the Greeley Tribune. My mother is a very nice person and she is excited to know she may have 3 brothers and that is the way she would veiw them as full brothers, not halves. She isn't in the best of health and it would be great to get some closer. My mother would love to gain 3 brothers and a bunch of nieces and nephews if there are some. My mother looks alot like Nemecio or Jose we don't know if that was an alias or part of his full name. My grandmother was only 13 when she got pregnant by him the first time.My mother has his crooked smile also.My wife and I just had our first child and it took us 19 years and I would love to tell her or even meet her Montez side of the family. Please answer our prayers. God bless and thank you for reading my post. Juan Rodriguez

Lola Montez

I have no connection to this family but found this article in the April 2, 1852 issue of the Rockland (Maine) Gazette:<br><br>"Lola Montez and the Public Schools of Boston.<br><br>"We were somewhat surprised to see by the Boston papers that this notorious individual who, having outlived the charms that elevated her from the position of a dancing girl to that of a public mistress to the King of Bavaria, and having squandered the wealth gained by this adulterous connection, and again, having lost a poor golden calf of a husband whom she had managed to victimize, has visited this country in the pursuit of her old vocation, has so charmed the citizens of puritanical Boston, exhibiting the poor remnants of personal graces upon the boards of their theatres, that she has been paraded through their public schools with all the honors. The children of the schools were made to declaim and sing and make speeches before her, which later she returned, tickling her auditors with many repetitions of that title which Boston vaunts, of the 'Athens of America.' We are not entirely ignorant of the peculiar direction in which the liberality and philanthropy of the present day loves to display itself, but we are at a loss to decide upon what particular ground this honor was vouchsafed. Whether did our Bostonian friends desire to show an innate reverence for royalty, in thus distinguishing a cast off mistress of a dissolute King - or to benfit their youth by exhibiting to them so rich an epitome of the morality of palaces and theatres! What sort of a lesson in regard to the importance of the divine law, and the value of virtue, and charity, and reputation, was it desired to impress upon their minds. Truly, we think that by this act, instead of honoring this Lola Montez, those by whose sanction it was performed have brought scandal and disgrace not only upon themselves, but also, what is more to be regreted (sic), upon the schools of Boston."

If you can please write back and give me any info you have on my grandfather. i think his name in the paper said Enemecio we knew they called him Joe. He also had a son with my grandmother after my mother was born, but he died soon after he was born. We always wondered if my mother looked like her other siblings. She doesn't look like her half ones she has. My grandmother died and didn't talk about Enemecio. We didn't start geting stuff like pics until she died. My mother was raised by her grandparents and didn't get along withher mother. I will pray that you find it in your heart to contact us we don't want money and this isn't a scam on our end.
My Dearest Rayna; I don't know if I'm the man that you search for. I too have searched for my children that the State of Nevada has indicated as being of my blood. Please forgive me if I sound as though I deny in being your father. It's just that in September of 2000,while in a crosswalk attempting to cross an intersection, a drunk driver hit me at 65 miles per hour. I was pronounced dead at the scene but revived. I died two more times on the operating table. I spent three and a half years in the hospital with total loss of memory.I still can't remember anything about myself or where I come from. I can only rely on the information that the state gave me upon my discharge from the hospital. According to the paperwork that I have in my possession, I have a daughter named RAYNA LOUISE, second born after SHAWN MICHAEL. With DOUGLAS BRADLEY being born after you and ALEXANDER JOSEPH being born after him. Sadly though, my paperwork indicates that ALEXANDER JOSEPH died on his second birthday with his cause of death being due to accidental drowning. If any or all of this makes any sense to you at all, please E-Mail me at <a href="mailto://michaelmontez62@yahoo.com">michaelmontez62@yahoo.com</a>. Thank you very much

Obituary: Joe M. Montez

Joe M. Montez (Sr.) passed away peacefully into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by his 3 devoted daughters and under the compassionate care of Hoffmann Hospice on September 4, 2007 at Glenwood Gardens in Bakersfield, CA. He was born on October 17, 1916 in Carrizozo, New Mexico to Augustin and Belen Montez. Joe was preceded in death by his son, Tony, in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Jenny, of 68 years; along with his two sons, Joe Montez Jr. and John C. Montez and his wife, Dee; his three daughters, Helen Gaona and her husband, Pete, Carol Harris and her husband, Dan, Rebecca O'Hearn and her husband, Mike; 13 grandchildren plus their spouses, Christine Montez, Mario Montez, Yvonne and Jeff Moberg (of Sundance WY), Chris and Christi Gaona, Pammie Gaona, Marlena Montez, Matthew Montez, Renae and Paul Guerrero, John and Dienna Montez, Jason Montez, Michael and Monique DeLeon, Scott Harris, and Michael O'Hearn; 10 great- grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild, Ethan Gaona; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and countless friends. At the young age of 17 while being raised in Iowa, Joe went to work in the Civilian Conservation Camp, where he learned a strong work ethic that lasted his entire life. In 1931 Joe moved to Bakersfield and worked for the City street maintenance department. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and was stationed at Camp Roberts. He was not sent overseas since he was already a father of 4. After the Army, he returned to work for the City of Bakersfield, for a total of 25 years. He also worked for the Bakersfield City School District for 15 years as a custodian. Even though he had retired, he never really stopped working. He was always fixing things around the house and eagerly helped his family and friends with any projects they were working on. Some of his favorite things were his beloved Chihuahua, "Cha-Cha", boxing, reading the bible, talking about history, music, flying the American flag and watching his many grandsons play football on their high school teams. He rarely missed a game. Joe will be remembered most for his calm, gentle and kind spirit. There will be a Catholic Mass on Tuesday, September 11, at St. Francis Church at 9:00 and burial at Greenlawn Mortuary on River Blvd. following the funeral. Pallbearers will be Michael DeLeon, Scott Harris, John R. Montez, Jason Montez, Michael O'Hearn and Mike O'Hearn. Joe M. Montez Sr. Oct. 16 1917 - Sept. 4, 2007 <br><br>Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 9/9/2007.

I found the following:<br><br>Santiago Montez -- Nacio 1864 Fallecio 1932.<br><br>I don't know if there's a relation but nearby is another grave, “Una recuerdo a Buestra ija Maria Montes. Nacio el dia 4 de marso de 1915. Fallecio el dia 10 de marso 1931.” Since the month "marzo" is spelled with an s, the spelling could also be Montez.<br>	<br>Geronimo is a tiny town, close to San Marcos to the north and Seguin to the south. It is in Guadalupe County.<br>	<br>That's all the info I have on Montes/Montez… But if you have questions about the cemetery location, let me know.

Francisca Montez-TX

I am searching for information on who I believe was my gggrandmother. My grandfather was Frank Peter Beltran b.29 Jun 1915 in TX. His parents were Joe (Jose?) A. Beltran and Refugo Martinez also of TX. On the 1900 census in El Paso, TX I located a Joe A. Jr b~1890 son of Joe A. Beltran and Francisca. Joe and Francisca were married 17 Oct 1873 in El Paso, TX. Her maiden name was Montez b~1861. I say I believe because I can't be positive my ggrandfather Joe Beltran is the same Joe Jr. on the 1900 census. We thought the family was from the Corpus Christi area but my grandfather died in 1969 and my remaining family isn't positive what part of TX he was from. My grandfather's family moved to a Los Angeles suburb, So. Pasadena, around 1925 where I located them on the 1930 census (I grew up in So. Pasadena). Living next door in So. Pasadena is a Francis Beltran b~1860 who is widowed living with her unmarried daughter Concepcion. So if you have any information or connection please let me know. If the Joe Jr. on the 1900 census is my ggrandfather he had ALOT of siblings (10)!!!

Raymond Montez

I am looking for family of Raymond Montez. He moved with is brothers and one sister to Chicago from Texas (maybe San Antonio) around the 1940's. His brothers were Santos and Angelo. Raymond and Angelo both served in WWII. His sister's name is Rose. Raymond is my husbands Grandfather, he knows little of the Montez family and would like to have information for our daughter. Raymond Montez died around 1960 and his wife remarried not long after so they quickly lost touch with the Montez side. We have looked for the death record but have been unable to find anything on him. So hopefully these names will be familiar to someone out there.

Finding out more about the CA Montez's

I'm looking for any information on the Michael Ares Montez family line. All I remember about it is that my father is Michael Ares Montez Jr and that he has 11 siblings (6 are from his mother, Josephina's Valencia wedding). I know that Michael Sr died in Aug 1994. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. (I'm not looking to have a reunion.)<br><br>Thanks for everything-<br>Rayna
