I found a family tree lists Denman Dee Moody, born 17 Dec 1894 in Linestone, TX, died 7 Jul 1978, married 20 Dec 1916 in Wortham, Freestone Co., TX to Bernice Bounds.

Find A Grave: Tehuacana Cemetery, Mexia, Limestone Co., TX lists Denmon Dee Moody, with the above dates. Bernice Bounds Moody, born 20 Mar 1990, died 1 Feb 1994. Billy Earl born 1920. died 1922 and 15 others. E. Boerma leaves information that Dee and Billy were the sons of Melissa & Bill Moody.

I hope some of this information is of help to you. If you don't have a subscription to Ancestry, I will be happy to do look-ups for you.

His parents listed as William McDonald Moody and Melissa Wayland Moody. Their only child listed is Billy Earl.

I also found a Social Security card for Dee Moody born 2 Feb 1890, died Oct 1979, Last known address: Porter, Montgomery Co., TX

Moody in England (Devon, London, Birmingham)

My great grandmother, Florence Moody (b. 1886, d. 1977) came to Canada from the UK, presumably as a domestic. I have been able to trace back a couple of generations from her, based on marriage records. But additional information (dates, siblings, etc.) are lacking.

The chain of inheritance from Florence back through her paternal line are:
Florence Moody (b. 1886, d. 1977, married Frederick Campbell)
--> William Moses Moody (b. 1867 in Birmingham, married Harriet Emily Chadney)
--> William Avent Moody (b. 1832 in Devon, d. 1913 in Warwickshire, married Ann Poulton)
--> Moses Moody (b. 1797 in Devon, d. 1877 in London, married Elizabeth Avent)
--> Robert Gardner Moody (b. 1777 in Devon, married Mary Trinnick)
--> Moses Moody (b. 1751, married Sarah Holland)

I have no other information on her at all. I wonder if this could be the same Rachel.
Something else that makes this interesting is that Rachel's brother Oliver Harbert was my ggg grandfather, and he has a son Ebenezer born 1837 in Johnson Co, Indiana.
I can't see your first name on the message, so hello "cousin!" I have the story of the descent of the Moodys from Edmund Moody but I am glad to hear that it has been verified by the College of Heralds. Very cool. (Of course the more I learn about Henry VIII, the less sure I am that our ancestor did anyone a favor by saving his life!). I will go look at your website. Thanks very much for sharing the information. Edwin Isaiah was always called Isaiah, and everyone in Northfield called him "Uncle Isaiah" in his later years when he lived there, and in fact, he was probably uncle to about half the town. He was sort of a local character and entertained people who came to see his brother D.L. in his workshop (he was a carpenter) while they were waiting around. Isaiah had 6 children, Anna, Jessie, Gertude, Henry, Dwight and Clara, but only the first 3 had children of their own, so there are not that many descendants on our line. Gertrude was my great-grandmother. Edwin and Betsey Moody's children are all listed in the Holton ancestry book. I see Warren Lyman Moody listed there. It only lists four children for him--George B. Moody, Arnold E. Moody, Leonard Moody and Laura Moody and doesn't go as far as the grandchildren. I'll be glad to share more of the lineage of my line off line, if we can make contact. It must be Phila that you listed below that lived in Marianna! The name William Brooks was mentioned in some of the letters, and I thought maybe he was the sister's husband, but I couldn't be sure. I will look this up on the website, too. Thanks so much. My mom, who is Gertrude's granddaughter, owned a cabin on the Ridge in Northfield until the 1960s. Too bad we had to sell it. We live in Florida and could rarely visit. I wish we still had it. I would like to know more about Warren and what happened to his family. Gertrude and her family would go up to Northfield in the summers. My mother did that also through childhood. We have pictures of some of the Moodys--several of Ambert Moody who was George Moody's son (another brother of Isaiah and Warren).

I am descended from Dwight L. Moody's brother Warren Lyman Moody, so we are cousins. I have proven to the College of Arms in London my direct ancestry to Edmund Moody, b. ca 1495 in Suffolk who was awarded lands, a pension and a coat of arms for saving the life of King Henry VIII. The coat of arms is now mine and can be seen on my website.
My website http://homepage.mac.com/deltalimemike/Menu71.html will provide you with ancestral and descendant information. When you see an underlined name, double click it which brings a fact field into view. Clicking on source numbers will take you to the source information. The website will disappear about 15 June when Apple stops supporting the site, and I will have to move and update it prior to that date.
I have Edwin's children, and partially traced Gertrude and Jessie's descendants, but none of the other children.
I do have Edwin's siblings and his father Edwin's siblings on the website. The only one of either of the Edwins sisters that I can see as a candidate for living in Florida in the 1830's is Ophelia "Phila" b. 1808 who married William Brooks 16 April 1835 in Northfield and by 1840 to at least 1880 they were living in Columbus, Georgia.

Hello. I am descended from the evangelist D.L. Moody's eldest brother Edwin Isaiah Moody. Sorry, I don't have information about descendants of other branches back in England. I have pretty much what everyone else has about the Moody family. I do have an interesting book called "The Ancestry of Ezra Holton" which has many of the known ancestors of Lemuel Holton, father of D.L.'s mother, Betsey Holton Moody. You may know that Betsey Holton's earliest ancestor in the colonies, William Holton, is an ancestor of Princess Diana. I was wondering if anyone knows about the brothers and sisters of Edwin Moody, D.L.'s father. I have letters dating from the 1830s to Edwin Moody from a sister who married a plantation owner in Marianna, Florida but I can't read her name on any of the letters. The information about Edwin's siblings that I have found on the web is pretty sketchy, so I would like to know more about them, if anyone has good information to share. Thanks.
Probably not mine. My James Moody was born 1774 Marion County SC. The closeness of age and the name association my lead one to check to see if they are related, prehaps cousins or something like that. But I have nothing on your James Moody. Do you know where he died?

Have you seen my ancestry pages or looked on Find A Grave. The pictures of James and Amy Moody have been posted. I remember you asking but forgot how to contact you. There was a gentleman that had taken the pictures at the Isley Church Cemetery that I asked to see if he could find the Moody Cemetery, because, if he knew how to get that close, I had hopes that he could find his way to the Moody cemetery. We now have directions, GPS, and pictures.
Sterling

My great, great, great grandfather was Benjamin Moody, who moved to what is now Tallahasse, Leon County, Florida, from North Carolina--possibly from Northhampton County. Benjamin was in the territory here at least by 1825, because he was on the tax list at that time. There is a Benjamin Moody on the 1790 Census for Northhampton County, North Carolina, and I believe I recall there being 11 slaves listed. However, I have not been able to confirm absolutely that this is my relative. My relative Benjamin Moody had a wife named Rachel, but I have not been able to find out her last name. Is any of this helpful? stewartp@flcourts.org

Do you have any proof otherwise? Have any of your male line yDNA tested?
I have an old photo of Fountain & Hellena..and Fountains sister...plus the headstones...etc...
I live in Nebraska..nice to have found some more cousins...

That will take you to the family card of that individual. 4) Click on any underlined names to go to their history page. History page sources are indicated by small superscript numbers, and if you 5) click on that number you will go to the source for that information.

Everyone in the index is related in some way to Dwight L. Moody. I would appreciate receiving any lineages to add to this collection of the descendants of Edmund Moody.

deltalimemike at gmail dot com

Word has passed down in our family that Dwight L. Moody was an uncle to my grandfather's mother- I'm not really sure of the connection, but, my grandfather went to Mt. Hermon for free. I know I am related to a Moody from CT. Levi Moody and one from Hadley. I can't find the info anymoreMy grandfather was a Hamilton from Ellinigton, CT.
