I have a great grandfather, James Moore who was born in Ireland about 1825-32. He married Alice Devine and moved in the United States in about 1863. Arrived and lived in New York until about 1870 when he moved his family to Minnesota where he lived until they moved to Minot, North Dakota area. My brother has said a relative said we were related to some Moores in Texas and also thought we were related to some Moores in Wyoming. We believe James Moore's middle name was Earl.

This tale of 7 Brothers has traveled the genealogy circuit for years. It was eventually discovered there was a ship named the 7 Brothers which came from England.

Hello
Marcia K Nelthorpe was my Mother. Tom, Teresa and Dana are my brothers/sisters. (step I guess) She subsequently married again and had two more children, Steve and Shelley. I do not have any info on their father as yet. She then married my father, Jerry Pryor in 1963, who had 3 kids of his own. They then had my sister Janet and myself. Big crowd indeed.
She passed away Feb 1998 of cancer.
Tom is living in San Diego, retired Navy. Teresa lives in Federal Way somewhere. Though has lost contact with the rest of us. Dana (who changed his name to Mike)took his own life a year ago September and is missed deeply.

Thank you for the search. I guess I should have given more information. That is my mother who wrote those articles. One was about her memories in Riverview, AL and the other is about her grandparents, James Henry and Eula (Hastey) Bonner. However, I do appreciate your efforts. I actually believe my grandfather's real name may be the Jack L. Moore name. And, I am like mother, I think he may have had another family. So, I really don't want to stir up any family problems --- I just would like to be able to fill in that branch of my ancestors. Of course, I would welcome any relatives that wished to correspond. Anyway, thanks again for the effort. I'll post again if I find anything more on him.
Mark.

Finding Jack (Davison or Moore)

My name is Mark Burford and I am looking for my grandfather who I have never met. It is my mother’s father and she has never met him either. I have two possible names he could have gone by:

1. Jack Edward Davison
2. Jack LaRoake Moore
Born: Jan 30, 1899 Not sure where. Have no data on death or parents.

He married my grandmother, Bessie Mable Bonner in April of 1938.
They may have divorced and remarried so I don’t know if this is the first or second marriage. Also, I know that this was Bessie’s only husband but I am not sure about his marital status before 1938 and after 1942. My mother was born in 1942. She is an only child. There may have been other pregnancies but the babies were either stillborn or miscarried.

Between 1938 and 1942 he was in the following areas:
May have worked at a store called “Red Rowe” in Alabama or Georgia.
He may have lived in Columbus, GA or Fairfax, Lanett, or Valley, AL.
He also may have lived in Jacksonville, FL or Spartanburg, SC.

I have searched through the census and found some Jack Moore’s but cannot be sure they are my grandfather. Same with Jack Davison.

At this point, both names could be bogus and even the date of birth.
I am attaching a picture of him to this post. I will “reply” to my own post to attach a second picture.

I am not wanting to upset anyone’s family. If he had another family, that is fine. My mother is in her late 60’s and she and Dad will be celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary next year. I want to know Jack’s ancestors. And, if there are any other descendants that wish to correspond, we would also like that as well. But, just knowing Jack’s parents would be a big relief to me.

Thank you in advance for anything anyone can provide.

Sincerely,
C. Mark Burford
Dalton, GA

Tale of 7 Brothers - Moore

I am looking for more information on an old family story about 7 brothers who came from England. They scattered, but a few settled in Person County, NC. One of these, I believe to be Dempsey Moore, who donated land for the Person County Courthouse. The story goes one of the 7 brothers donated this land, and public records searches led me to the name Dempsey.
I can go back as far as a William Moore, married to Lucy Blalock (2nd marriage for her), but I have no more on William. If I'm going to go from William, to hopefully finding a connection to Dempsey (per the family story), I need a connection to William. All help is appreciated.

Looking for information on a Jonathan More or Moore, blacksmith, born circa 1801 in Maine, USA; moved to the Saint John vicinity in New Brunswick circa 1824 and married a Mary who was born circa 1805 in Ireland. Based on the 1851 census, they had four children: Samuel, born circa 1834; John F., born 23 November 1835 who married Frances and eventually settled in Mille Lacs County, Minnesota with several of their children; Jane, born circa 1836; Isabel, born circa 1840. The above-mentioned John F. Moore was also a blacksmith, as were some of his sons.

I'm interested in any information on this family, especially on the origins of Jonathan and his wife.

According to DNA results from my family line... we are grouped with John Moore(wife sally goodman and james's brother) , But my line is stuck on samuel moore. I had been going on a theory that John might have had a brother that had a son named samuel (since i saw the DNA grouping).... and when I saw this messege it really peaked my interest.

Any info you might have on james moore ,wife, and kids would be appreciated. jimmoore31@aol.com

For reference the samuel moore I am refering too is Samuel Columbus Moore b. 1803 married to melita oliveaux.

Hi...

Sorry, Been awhile since I been to this site. Yes my Grandpa (Everett) had a sister named Lucy. I know a lot about the family because my Aunt Sara Moore did the research a long time ago. George T Moore mother was pregnant before they where married. Let me know if you would like to share research. Tilman marriage records, and war records where gathered by my Aunt.
Some things are very confusing with the Moore lines.

Thanks,
