Kim, I am related via the Moores. Harold Lee's father, Wm Alfred Moores is a brother to my GG Grandmother. And there names within the other postings that are married into this family - MacCallum, McDavid, MacNaughton, Mann, Ferguson. My line is Thomas Moores with Jane Mitchell, to Nathaniel Moores with Margaret Ann Sutherland, to Matilda Zilpha Moores with Neil Archibald Morrison(my GG Grandparents). Nathaniel Moores born 1820 in Miramichi, Northumberland New Brunswick Canada and Margaret Ann Sutherland born 1827 Nashwaaksis, Restigouche County, New Brunswick Canada. I have alot on this line. Matilda and her siblings were all born in Matapedia, Quebec. Neil and herself, rest in Manitoba - Archibald Cemetery, Pembina district. Many of the Moores were born in New Brunswick, and many also moved to Mount Vernon, Washington USA - buried in the IOOF Cemetery.

I tried to contact him, but my e-mail to him was returned as "undeliverable." Anyway, I could make you copies of what I have. It has not been verified and some of it has mistakes, but you could help by looking at it and correcting any mistakes you see. I would need your address to do that obviously. By the way, Eursal would be my late father's cousin, I believe. Keep in touch! Tanya

My late mother, Norma said that my grandparents came from Matapedia and I found a picture of my grandfather taken by a photography studio. I cannot make the name of the studio out, but it was taken by S.W. D_ _ _ _ in Campbellton N.B. I am looking for any realatives. I beleive that Ferguson was also a family name.

Moore/Blackmore family of Moorhayes, Cullompton, Devon, England.

Hi

Many of you may be related to the Moore Family of Moorhayes, Cullompton, England. The main branch of this family which died out with the death of Mary Moore who was the last in line of the main Family. She married John Blackmore of Sheldon, Devon, and had one child, John Moore Blackmore. The Parish Registers for Cullompton record the burial of "Mary wyef (sic) of Mr John Blackmore" on the 17 June 1724.
What in the Moore pedigree has always remained a mystery is the identity of her mother. I read many books in my search for details of the family and of significant importance is the following found in "Devonshire Wills by Charles Worthy. This book was published in 1896, long before I was born. That which has been transcribed below is exactly how it is written in the book Devonshire Wills, this also includes the NOTE which is also from the book. Following on is another will from the Moore Family that of Catherine Pomeroy wife of Sir John Moore. In the past I have been accused by a member of my family of writing this myself, especially the NOTE at the end of each will. He having refused to read the book, where it is clear and easy to read, and certainly fills in the details of the missing wife of George Moore. You are invited to try and read the book if possible and make your own decision on the wife of George Moore.

Devonshire Wills pages 236 & 237

1743. The last will of Mary Osmond of Tiverton, Widow, 10th Feb., 1742.
To be buried in "Moores Isle," in Cullompton Church, by the side of her mother.
To Kinsman William Bailey the younger, of Tiverton, silver tankard, salver, and punch ladle, the tea cannister, six tea spoons and tongs, and a gold watch. To his wife Mary "a diamond ring with green stone in it," best white satin gown flowered with gold, and "my linnen gown that I brought in London." To kinswoman Susannah Sellick, " If she be living in the same station at Kensington as I lately saw her," a diamond ring and silver podinger. To kinsman William Sellick, £7- 14s. per annum. To kinsman Peter Slape, £50. To Kinswoman Ann, wife of Francis Matthews, £100. To Miss Mary Coles, £50, and to her father Thomas Coles and to Susannah Haviland, a mourning ring each. To Mrs Mary Osmond of Halberton, two pairs of gold buttons, and to Eleanor Floyer, a mourning ring. The Arms of her first husband, "Mr, Moore," to be put on her hearse.
Residue to said Wm. Bailey, who is sole Exor.
Proved 17th Dec., 1743.
Trustees, Saml. Rogers, Rector of Withycombe, Somerset, and Vicar of Halberton; Thomas Balliman, and Thomas Coles.

NOTE.- Testatrix, whose marriage licence with "Mr. Moore" is not to be found, and whose maiden name is left blank in the Pedigree of Moore of Moorehays, was probably a daughter of William Sellick, who purchased the right of presentation to Cullompton Church, and presented thereto, in 1710.
She was the widow of George Moore of Moorhays, who died 5th Nov., 1711 and by him had an only daughter Mary, the wife of John Blackmore of Sheldon, and the ancestor of the present owner of Moorhays.

Following immediately on from the above will is that copied below

1606. The last Will of Catherine Lady "More" of Cullompton, dated 26th April, 1606. Desires to be buried in the parish church, and leaves the reparation thereof 10s., and to the poor 6s. 3d. To Robert Denys, 10s.
Reside to my servants "Mr. Tryslade and Mrs. Shepherd," who are Sole Exors.
Proved June, 1606.

Note. - The personal effects of Tesatrix were valued at £21 6s. 1d., inclusive of two horses and a mare, which were valued at £8 She was the widow of Sir John Moore of Moorhayes, and daughter of Sir Thomas Pomeroy of Berry, by Jane, daughter of Sir Piers Edgcombe.

Terry Blackmore

I know this is a very old thread, but I am hoping to still find someone around. I am a direct descendant of William Moores who married Elizabeth Ross. I would love to find julie35209 or Kenneth Moore. I am very interested in the personal information that they have about the family.

Also, I am wondering if anything has been cleared up about the parentage of William Moores & Henry Moores who married the Ross sisters. I always see them associated with Christian Allward & William Moores of English descent, but I am under the impression they had a father that was Scottish & came to America by way of Ireland. Someone states in this thread that this is also implied in the book Ancestors and descendants of Lewis Ross Freeman & I know I have seen it in A record of the descendants of Isaac Ross and Jean Brown, which is available here on Ancestry. I am curious if anyone has made any progress on this issue.

Thanks!
Kelly

Carrie B. Moores b.1879 TN

This is a dead end for me. Carrie is the daughter of James A. Moores and Amanda Jane Parsley. All I have on her is that she was born abt. 1879 in Tennessee. A cousin that I have corresponded with, thought that either Carrie or her sister Cora may have married and moved to Mississippi. I know it wasn't Cora, cause she was my grandmother and I know that she lived and died in Cheatham County Tennessee. So I am thinking that maybe it was Carrie who moved to Mississippi.

If anyone from the James A. Moores line has any info on Carrie, it would be greatly appreciated!!

I did find the following: 1873 12 19 -At Blackhead-- Wm. Moores, Mulleys Cove. m. Catherine Flight,Small Point. Wit. Henry Thistle & John Mulley. Methodist VS52B This could be his parents, but then Zebedee would be from the Mulleys Cove family that is an extension of the neighbouring Blackhead Family.
