Nope no Flynn's. My Tree is focused on the Mounteers and their descendents. I have Charles Stubley in my tree because he is the grandson of Nancy Ann Day Mounteer. I will send you some information in a bit but I don't have much on your ancestors yet as I haven't gotten that far in my research yet.

Laurie

Lisa,

I am actually Laurie, Mark's sister. I use his account to track our family tree info as well since we are both interested in our ancestors. I am distantly related to Charles and Jane Ellen Stubley. He is my second cousin 4 times removed according to ancestry. If you trace the tree up two levels (the second cousin part) to Charles' grandmother Ann Nancy Day Mounteer, I am descended from her brother William Mounteer. William had a son John William Mounteer, who had a son Edwin Asa Mounteer who had a son William John Mounteer who had a son Donald Edwin Mounteer who had a son William Donald Peter Mounteer who is my father. So you would be..my sixth cousin since you are the same generation as me. Just to see how the generations line up, I was born in 1973.

I had Charles and Jane and their children in my tree which I probably copied from your tree a while ago but I don't have anything further. I do have some information on Charles's Ancestors if you'd like some details in the other direction. I have as far back as Anthony Mounteer who would be Charles's great great great grandfather. (Charles to mother Ann to Grandmother Ann Nancy Mounteer to great grandfather John Mounteer, to great great grandfather John Mounteer to great great great grandfather Anthony Mounteer. You can contact me directly at Laurie@Mounteer.ca if you like.

Laurie

Hello Laurie
Hannah Mounteer was my great grandmother. She was married to Thomas P. Moorhouse (grandson of Thomas Moorhouse and Jane Hopkins).
I don't see the names of the people in the four photos that you posted, and I don't have my photos here at present. However, the seated woman in Photo #1 looks familiar; as do the couple in Photo #2. In #3, I believe I have a photo of the woman, but haven't identified her. Who is she? I don't recognize anyone in #4. I would be glad if you would send me the names for each photo. Have you got any answers to your questions? Please let me know what you are now looking for.
Elaine

thomas moorhouse who married jane hopkins is eric's 2nd grt grandfather. Thomas was born in 1772 and jane hopkins(my cousin) born in 1783, they came over to canada in 1824.
unfortunatally my printer isnt working, it also has a scanner so it is out of order also.
the book mention's hannah's faqther william lived at one time in Mosa near wardsville. anson(moorhouse) recalls that he also lived in the little house on the west half of lot 22, concession 6, euphemia where Thomas P.(moorhouse, 3rd child of william Moorhouse and catherine Pearce, who eric descends from) Lived in Later years. in the 1860's william(mounteer) was postmaster at sutherland's Corners.(canada directory of 1864-1865 is the source of the info). he came from chatham after his retirement. he may have been in some business in chatham previously. he was a very ardent methodist and was instrumental in the establishment of Wesley Methodist church on lot 25 concession 6, euphemia. Anson thinks that he was a local preacher. all these quotes are from the book.
john

Mary died in 1876, and then Charles married my great grandmother Agnes. I have info about Elizabeth's siblings if you are interested. ~Noreen

I am searching for more information on Martha Moorhouse who married John Haigh in 1781 in Almondbury, Yorkshire, England. Of course, I have also been told that her surname was Woodhouse, but the transcribed record shows Moorhouse, and I have not yet seen the original record. John died in 1811 in Holmfirth, Yorkshire, England. I don't know when Martha died. John's will indicates several children: Joseph, Abraham, Levi, Simeon, and Phillis. I have also seen other children including Richard, Betty, Martha, Lydia, Hannah and Sarah in this family. Does anyone know who Martha's parents are?

William Richardson MOORHOUSE of Yorkshire b abt 1836

I would like to trace William Richardson Moorhouse.

William born approx 1836 married Ellen Tinker 1836. They lived in Scholes, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire

Ellen emigrated to America taking 2 of her 3 children. William mysteriously dissappeared from the family. Although it was thought that some family members knew what had happened to him.

It is possible that he moved somewhere in Buckinghamshire

Hello, it's really nice to hear from you. I have never known what William did as I haven't been sure which person he was on the census, so do fill me in. My link is via the next son, Joseph born 16 Feb 1817. Joseph married Mary Ann Wilkinson and they became very wealthy owning a woolen mill. They had lots of children. Was William involved in the woolen industry? I don't know how they got the money to get it going. Joseph and Hannah seem to be pretty poor. Do you have any information about them at all? I think Joseph was bapt 1 April 1782 Dewsbury and his father was William (which would tie in with his first child being a william). They seem to have had 11 children in all. my email is rebecca.lisle@blueyonder.co.uk which is easier than this. Do let me know more. best wishes, rebecca

Elaine,

I got these pictures from my Grandfather who was the one who did most of the original research so I don't know how accurate the following is.

Picture one has John Mounteer and Aunt Al (Alice Tyndall) written on the back. I think this is John Mounteer (your Hannah's brother), his wife Eliza Ann Tyndall and possibly her mother Alice Tyndall - as I don't know who wrote the descriptions on the back of the picture.

Picture two is William and Francis Mounteer who would be Hannah's parents.

Picture three is William and Francis and three of their children. I am not sure about this picture as the info I have suggests that it is Charles, Hannah and John - the three oldest children of William and Francis. The problem with this is that I was researching the history of photography and given the birthdates of the children would make the photo about a year or two after photography was invented never mind available to the public. I suspect that the youngest child is actually the last child born before they left for Canada in 1842 which would make the baby Wesley, the girl Hannah (b1832) and the boy possibly John (b1834) or Charles (b1831) or William (b1837). As this is very early for photography it is entirely likely that this is a photograph of another family entirely. I doubt photography was available in rural Canada anywhere near that early but it is possible I suppose that they got a picture on the way out in one of the major European cities. Although if that were the case I would expect all the children to be in the picture - there were seven at that point not three.

Picture four is a generation photo of William Mounteer, his son John (Hannah's brother), John's son Edwin and Edwin's son William.

I still have very little in the way of interesting info and/or pictures for the earlier generations of my family although I have lots of info on William Mounteer (Hannah's father) as he thoughtfully wrote out a fairly detailed history of his life at age 66 or there about at the urging of his children. My mother has the original but has typed it into word if you would like me to send you a copy of it. The spelling is very bad and the grammar is weird but it makes for fascinating reading. It is mostly about his religious life and how he got into it - which is hilarious the way he writes it even though I doubt he intended it that way. He was a traveling Methodist minister in England and in southern Ontario in the mid to late 1800's. My history goes back to Anthony Mounteer born about 1730, who would be Hannah's great great grandfather. The info is rather limited but send me your email (mine is laurie@mounteer.ca) and I'll send you copies of what I have in exchange for anything you have on Hannah or her ancestors or descendants.

As I said in my earlier post I am slowly working on a history book with as much interesting trivia and pictures as I can find. I am currently working on William's generation (Hannah's father) and have as much info as I can get my hands on for Hannah and her descendants at the moment. I would love to share what I have and see if you can fill in any gaps.

Laurie

Dear Emily,

I am not sure if we have connection. My Amos Moorhouse was born in 1810 and the censuses in 1861, 1871 and 1881 record his occupation as a woolen weaver. The only marriage I am aware of was to Elizabeth Addy in 1845. I am not aware of any children called Hannah. However, it is possible he could have had another marriage, because national records for birth, deaths and marriages did not begin until 1837.

Best wishes,

Andrew

Oh okay - perhaps the Thomas Moorhouse I have is a son or brother or cousin to the one you have that married Jane Hopkins.

I am creating a picture book history of my ancestors (however remote) that I can connect to me somehow. The book is intended for my son (who is now only 7mths old). I do not have much information on the descendants of Hannah Mounteer Moorhouse (she was a sister to John Mounteer whom I am descended from).

I am looking for any pictures you may have of Hannah any of her descendants. Also - all I have is dry info - birthdates, death dates, locations of births and deaths, marriage dates and names. I am looking for any interesting trivia about Hannah and her descendants that may be mentioned in the book you have. I don't want a lot as Hannah is not one of my direct ancestors but I would like perhaps a couple of sentences about each person that I can put in my book to make it more interesting.

Does the book you have mention anything about Hannah's brothers and sisters? Probably not since it is about Moorhouses not Mounteers but I thought I'd ask.

I tried tracking the book down and I found one website asking $125US plus shipping for it. I am not prepared to pay that as I am not sure it has much info that is relevant to me.

If you have access to a scanner could you scan any pages that look relevant to what I am doing and email them to me at Laurie@Mounteer.ca please? I need jpeg files to be able to import them into my picture book and I need fairly high resolution if possible. I am not in a hurry as it will likely be some months before I have all the information gathered for my book.

I do have some pictures that I have attached. The titles say who is in the picture. Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks!

Laurie

Hi - If you are still looking for info on Eric Gelling I have only two people to add as descendants. One is Tara Margaret Harvey, born to Philip John Harvey on September 14, 1989 and the second is Thomas Christopher Moorhouse born to Christopher Thomas Moorhouse on February 13, 1982. I don't know if there are any more children than these as they may simply have been the first born.

I am not sure where this info came from as my grandfather was collecting the information several years ago but it is probably accurate.

I do have the ancestors of Eric Gelling Moorhouse in great detail if you are interested going back to William Mounteer born 1806. The name changed to Moorehouse in the 1860's sometime as Hannah, William's daughter, born in 1832, married Thomas Pearce Moorhouse. I don't have a marriage date but their eldest son was born in 1863. Their youngest son was Manley Stafford Moorhouse, born 1870 and he had one son, Eric Gelling Moorhouse.

I suspect John Tyner is talking about a different Eric Gelling as my information matches up with yours but not his.

Hi Roger, I do have info on Moorhouses in Canada, around the St Thomas and Fort Erie areas. I, myself, am a Moorhouse in the Western, NY area, where my ancestors migrated to. Charles H Moorhouse, b.1865 had 3 children, James E, Charles W, and Harry N, all born in St Thomas, Ontario,Cananda. Your uncle Hilton could be related somehow. Do you have any other info?

Hi John, I am a Moorhouse and have info on Ontario Moorhouses. My info doesn't go back as far as yours, but here's what I have. Charles H.Moorhouse, b.1865 in Merriton, Ont/Canada. Went to St Thomas, Ont in 1882, married Margaret Smith in 1885. Their 3 children were born in St Thomas, Ont. Charles W, James E, and Harry N. Harry was my great grandfather, b.1893. Perhaps your Thomas or William Moorhouse are related to Charles somehow. i hope this post finds you.
