My dad's name is Salvatore from El Paso.
He had a fake birth certificate when his family immigrated in the 1900's but he spoke perfect Italian.
Did you know of a Elizabeth Canori Mora? She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1994. She died in 1825 in Rome and is presently close to sainthood.
She technically married into the Mora family.

I'm trying to locate any relatives or information on my great-grandfather's family from Monterrey, MEX. His name was Tomas Mora. I've been told that his mother's maiden name was Capetillo. He left Monterrey at a young age, married Vidala Castor in Round Mountain, TX, and never returned to Monterrey. A trip to locate his family in the '90s was made, but was unsuccessful. If anyone has any information, it would be very much appreciated.

-Rich Mora

Hi, I previously was gbten. I have no other information other than her name, Isabel de la Mora and her husband G-Grandfather, Francisco de Martine. I found a marriage in 1825, they were both widowed previously and it sounded promising. This was 1825,Tezoatlan, Oaxaca, Mexico. I felt it went back to far since their son, Grandfather Eugenio was born around 1875. No birth certificate on he , just approximate date from my father's birth certificate frm Tepatitlan, Jalisco Mexico. 1903.

There is a town in Spain called Mora, but I do believe that the last name came from the Roman era, originated in Italy. Lot's of migration going on. There is also a city of Mora, in Minnesota, but that probably has nothing to do with what we are searching.

Lou Mora
Boca Raton, FL

Canary Islanders to San Antonio

I've read a lot lately and it appears the Canary Islander settlers who came to San Antonio de Bejar (etc.) arrived there in 1731. They have a rich history there after that date. I know they came via Cuba. I have been trying to find out about Matteo/Matieu Antonio Gil Y'Barbo/Ibarvo father of Antonio who was supposedly married in the Alamo mission in 1723. A cousin has the record but other historic accounts say they came direct from Andalucia Spain to Los Adaes via New Orleans in the 1720's after the Aguayo Expedition which reclaimed that area from French control. Any information helpful. Thanks.

Mora family, Canary Island to Cuba.

The Mora family I am looking for is related to Louis Mora.
He was surposed to be a Lawyer back in the Canay Islands. He had a family back there. When he married Ms. Blanco(don't know her first name) in Cuba he was an elderly man, so my Grandmother said. They had 2 daughters, Alice and Louisa. This happened in the very late 1800's Ms. Blanco died when my GM was about 14. Ms. Blanco came from a family of some means in Cuba. Louisa remembers going back a forth between N>Y> and Cuba. Alice never married and went blind. Louisa Mora married Francisco Moyano.(Louisa had a daughter Gertude either out of wed lock or a failed marrage) They had 4 living children Christina, Carmen and Arthur. Frank died an infant. Francisco was from Spain. Alice and Louisa were born here in the US.

Thanks so much... very nice picture. Actually no I don't have very much info on the disappearance. I do think that the "disappearance" was planned. From what I understand he did say goodbye to a couple people- my mother included. Not quite sure what really* happened but there is lots of speculation. My father was the oldest child of Joseph Hamilton so the spent alot of time fishing together and stuff so it weighed very heavy on him. Would love to know what you know...

Isabel Mora / TX or Mexico

My mothers great grandmother was Isabel Mora and she married a Procoro Galvan. They had a daughter and named her Adelita that was born in 1881 and died in 1947. Adelita
married a Juan Chavez and lived in the Reedville,Tx area. Adelita had a daughter named Carolina that married a Chavez and lived in the San Antonio, TX area until her death in 1993. My mom remembers only her grandmother and would love to know more. If anyone has any information please contact me.

Thanks, Georiga
