I have a Julia Murphy (b. 1848 in Co. Galway) in my father's family tree, on his mother's side. Do you know if Margaret had any sisters or cousins? I'm still gathering paperwork, so I have no information yet on siblings of anyone besides my father.

Katie Moran

I am searching for my husband's relatives. His grandfather's name was Herman Housman of Kenosha county and he died in 1949. Herman married Florence Moran and they had the following children: Carol, Alice, Ellen and Kenneth (my father-in-law.) Florence's parents were Peter and Alvina Moran of Brighton or Waterford, Wisconsin. They had besides Florence the following children: Kenneth, Lillian and Helen. If you have any information on any of these people or their relatives that you could give me I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Dawn Rubincan-Housman
Kenosha, WI

I am searching for more information about Harriet Mary Moran. She was born 4 AUG 1899 in Massachusetts, and died 8 DEC 1987 in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida.

She was married to a George Edward McCullough and with him had 3 children. Bruce D born 31 May 1930, Charles Edward born 1931 in Miami, Dade County Florida, and Paul S born 21 Oct 1932 in Miami, Dade County Florida.

Sometime after her son Bruce was born she moved to Florida, where I have found her family in the 1935 Florida Census.

I cannot locate her in the 1930 Federal Census, and was hoping to find out more about her time in Massachusetts. Although, information about the family after their move to Florida would be appreciated as well, particularly about their middle son.

I have a photograph of her, her husband, and all 3 of their sons if that would help.
I am a great grand daughter of Alfred Edward Moran. I never knew his mother's name. You mentioned that he was your GG Uncle. How are you related to him? We know little about that side of the family. He was full French. His father came from France, but I don't know of any details on how/why they came to the US. I know my grandmother could remember her grandfather (Alfred's father) speaking with a very heavy accent. I've also heard he spoke no English at all. I'm interested to know any information and family connections you may have. Please contact me by email: momoffour62@hotmail.com I don't get on this website much. I saw your post on a relatives FB page (Ramona Moran Creasy). Thanks so much. Terrie Payne Mogavero - Mansfield, TX

Not sure if my family is connected to yours, but I have Moran relatives from the Ballina/Swinford area of Mayo. John Moran married Bridget Gildea, and they had eight children: James (b 1873), Mary (b 1874), John, Annie, Margaret, Michael, Ellen (b 1878) and Bedelia (b 1879).

Perhaps your Brigid Moran is a sibling or cousin of my John Moran? I do not have a date of birth or parent information for him, but seeing as his children were born in the 1870s, a birth date in the 1840s or 1850s would make sense.

No, I'm sorry. My Patrick came from Bellevue, Kilbarron near Lough Derg, which is about 25Km north of Silvermines. His father was Patrick and mother Catherine Kennedy. He came to Australia in 1850 and a brother James followed him out before moving to Dunedin and then Auckland. A sister Bridget stayed in Ireland. I suspect there were more but I have not discovered any others so far.

Hi Justin

Daniel Patrick was born in 1828 in Lisbrien, in the Parish of Silvermines, Kilmore near Dolla - the son of George Moran and Winifred Corby. We know the names of five of Daniel Patrick's siblings and one is a Patrick who may have been born either before or after a Winifred was in 1833. Is this the same Patrick Moran as you are researching?

I came across this post by chance and there are some similarities to my line. I have a Patrick who was at Castlemaine, not far from Bendigo, or Sandhurst as it was then, who did go to N.Z. for a time before returning to Australia. There was also a brother James, who went from Australia to N.Z and stayed. They were from Tipperary also. Do you have Daniel Patrick's parents?

Hi Charlie,
I'm betting we are second cousins once removed! That is if your grandmother, Molly married Bill M who was a firefighter.

My guess is your Mom would be Anne.

My grandfather, Martin Moran, was your great-grandmother's brother.

Looking back over my Mom's notes I found that she indicated your g-grandfather's name was either Martin or Patrick. Nice to have that nailed down.

Please send me your email address and I'll forward along the info that I have. Mine is pfmoran@comcast.net

It's great to find a cousin and it will be fun to collaborate on the shared parts of our family tree.
Thanks,
Pete

Hello Pete. Nice to hear from you. Sounds like we have a connection, the names dates and locations are all very close.
My grandmother was Mary Frances Comber aka Molly, born in 1898 in Loughrea. She was the daughter of a Patrick Comber and Mary Moran. My Patrick was born in 1856, and Mary about 1866. There are a few Martins in the tree, often called Sonny as a nickname? My PATRICK and Mary had 8 children, Mary (Molly) b. 1898, Martin (Sonny) b. 1899, Annie b. 1900, Elizabeth b. ??, Ellen b. 1903, Delia b. ??, Patrick and Catherine. I don not have much info on my Moran line except that Mary's father was Peter born abt 1830.
Thats all I have for now, would love to read whatever you have on the Morans.
Thanks again Cousin?
Charlie H

Nothing on Thomas, but I do think that Honora's parents are Rose Sweeney and John Walsh, but that is conjecture only. The Thomas in my post likely died 1901 - 1911 considering the change of Honora from 1901 Wife to 1911 Head and Widow.
The names are tough to filter out...Thanks for the thoughts and consideration.

Do you have any information about the parents of Thomas Moran and Honora Walsh Moran? It seems that Moran lineage married into the Walsh lineage quite a several times
My g.g. grandfather John Moran, b. in Co. Mayo 1800, married Margaret Walsh in Co Kildare in 1819 in Co Kildare. We have no information on Margaret Wash but John had a brother Thomas who was born probably between 1824 and 1831. All we know at this time on Thomas is that he died in the U.S. My Moran lineage used the Irish naming traditions.
Seeking descendents of or any ideas as how to locate further information regarding the Moran Family; specifically Thomas Moran and his wife Honora (Walsh). I am primarily interested in information concerning Honora Walsh Moran. In the 1901 census they are listed as residing in Mayo, Castlebar, Breaghy, Cloonlynchaghaun. Thomas is listed as being 50 yo and Honora as 46 yo. There are 6 children. By 1911 Honora is listed as a widow and living with three of her children. At that time the record shows that 7 of her 7 children are still alive. I believe Honora may be my G-Great Aunt, the sister of my Great Grandfather Redmond Walsh. Both children of Redmond Walsh and Bridgett Brennan. The younger Thomas Moran was born 12 July 1883 in Castlebar, Ireland and came to buffalo, NY in 1907.
I have posted the records I have at: http://walshfamilysources.blog.com/moran-specific-informatio...

Hi-

I am looking for information on the Moran families of Ballana, Mayo. In particular, the parents of Brigid Moran born 2.2.1851 to a mother with the maiden name McNutly.

I know Brigid married a Thomas or Patrick Kelly who died around 1893. Brigid and her husband had 3 girls, Catherine, Helen and Brigid Kelly. Brigid Moran Kelly left Ireland and followed her girls to the states.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

John E Moran 1799-1871+ of Ann Arundel Co. Md, who married Elizabeth Deale abt 1826, was born in Charles Co. Md. to John 1754-1811 of Peter Moran. This fact is caused by the sale of land purchased by Elkanah Moran 1785-Dec 1842, after his death, with the proceeds distributed to his brothers and sisters, who are named. Leonard of Baltimore 1797-1851+ is one of them. That land transfer to William Sotheron of DC is IB 25 dated April 1843- Foxes Race p232. I am trying to tie that family to my maternal line of Morans, via George Henry Moran 1828- April 28 1869. Any info on him will be appreciated.

Mavis, your right, the John Moran I am looking for lived in Sarnia, his daughter, Margaret Catherine Moran married Hugh Regan, my grandparents, and lived in Marine City.

I am trying to find sources for the Moran/Hawkins/Carrick families of Sarnia and Marine City. I don't like to add names or other information to my tree without documenting the information. Too hard to correct mis-information.

I found a Susan Carrick (age 54) in 1851 Canadian Census with a son John (age 30) in what looked like a debtors jail.
The ages looked about right and 1851 was just 3 years after her Husband John Moran died in Ireland in 1848. I am about 75% sure this is my ancestor but would like to find more sources. Of course then I want to go back even further to find ancestors in Ireland.

I am just starting out on my adventure, appreciate any help or advice. Dan.
