I'm helping someone research her family. I believe her grandmother Lula Morrell, b. abt. 1905, was a sister to Johnnny and Noah Morrell. See family of Frank Regester/Register in 1920 US census, Colquitt Co. GA. I'd like to share and help research. I'm puzzled about some names. I've left a message for you in your Ancestry Message Box with my email address. I hope you're still around.

Mom's dad was a very bad man for a very long time. ABUSIVE. Mom being the oldest always had to protect the others. One day your mom packed up Cindy and split. Mom had to help raise the rest of them for as long as she could stand it. Then she met my dad, got married and took off too. I met your mom's parents. They are the ones that lived in Greeley, CO.
Mr. Morrell, ended up remarried, a couple of times and to the best of my knowledge the youngest of his 17 kids, was a couple of years younger than me. I'll be 50 this year.

I'm trying to remember some of her brothers and sisters names.. Kenny was the one that had cancer and lived in Tulsa. You have 1/2 sisters/TWINS. Kay and Fay I believe. There are so many of them and every time one of them came into our lives, they either stole from mom and dad or did something to cause my parents to distance themselves again. Tough crowd. Mr Morrell ended up retiring from the Oklahoma HIghway Patol as a Mechanic. Go figure.
I'll speak with my dad and see what he can remember. They were all living in ADA, OK at the time. Mr. Morrell lived in Oklahoma City when he retired. But again, that was 32 years ago.

You can contact me at zapmanjay@gmail.com if that would be easier.

I think I have delayed replying for long enough whist I try and find something but so far have failed.

The Morrells that form my ancestors all seem to come from the south of England, (Somerset & Devon) and so far I have found no link with the Yorkshire Morrells until more recent times when some moved north (1870's).

Sorry I can't be of any help.

I have passed your message along to Cindy. I have never met nor did I know I had any 1/2 brothers or sisters. I was always told by my mother that all of her brothers, sisters, mom, dad and all relatives were dead and that she was never married before and did not have any other children. I guess if I do the math correctly that you are my 1/2 nephew. I guess I would really like to know, if your mother ever talked about it, why my mom would take off and just leave her other children and only take Cindy with her.

Morrell
?? I wouldn't even begin to know how many Morrells there are. Mom chose not to have anything to do with them while I was growing up. I met my great grand parents in Greeley, CO, when I was 14, 1 time, for about an hour. Then Mr Morrell when I was 18, 1 time.

I know mom, Barbara, was the oldest of them all. Her brother Kenneth and her became close during the last 10 years of her life while living in Tulsa. I believe that he had Cancer. But he lived in N. Tulsa.
Greetings! My Great Great Grandfather, George Morrell, was said to have immigrated to America in 1847, from Yorkshire England. (His wife died at sea.) He arrived in New England with two young sons, William (1844) and Samuel (1847). George walked with his two young sons on his back, all the way to Louisville, NY. There he settled and built a log house and eventually started dairy farming. The house stood for many years and was located on Town Ridge Rd. (from 1977 interview of Burton Morrell by Lynne Barber Vigesaa). His oldest son, William, married Ellen C. Hall and lived in Lawrenceville, NY. Do you have any information about this George Morrell? Thanks so much!
Jacqueline Barber
Alan

I hope you are still using this address. I am a decendent of William Morrell (his son George Morrell - elder brother of your relation David Edwin - was my great, great grandfather). I am trying to produce a family tree for my father and I can't seem to trace William's parents. There is an Edward and Phebe Morrell of Porlock - but I can't find any evidence that William was their son. Another family website suggests that William's parents are John Morrell and Jane (Huish) but again, I can't find any evidence. I just wondered whether you had ever solved the mystery of William's parents.

Johanna Morrell, Bristol

I have no idea if this might be connected with your William but I thought I'd take a chance . . .

I'm trying to trace names on a family heirloom from the 1840s, some of which are Morrells. Specifically: William H. Morrell, Charles H. Morrell, Sarah E. Morrell, Wallace Morrell, and what appears to be C.K. Morrell. They are most likely from New Jersey near Upper Freehold or New Egypt (in Ocean and Monmouth Counties depending on the year.) I'd guess at least some of them were born between 1810 and 1825. They could have been Philly but I suspect not. Do any of these names match yours?

I believe his wife's name may have been Mehatabel(1791-1860) although the spelling on her obit was morrill. Lucy Morrell Miller was their daughter, the mother of my great-grandmother, Lydia Miller who lived in Sangerfield, NY. Unfortunately, all I have on John is his name! I wish I had more information!

I am looking for info on three Morrells who appear on a quilt made about 1841 in New Egypt, Plumsted Township, Ocean County (previously part of Monmouth County.) They may be from New Jersey or possibly from Philadelphia.

The two are shown as C.K. Morrell, R.H. Morrell, and S.E. Morrell. If the pattern found in the other names on this quilt holds true, its most likely they were born about 1815 +/- a few years.

I've searched the available census and other records but have found no obvious candidates for these names. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Laura Morrell d abt 1930

Laura Morrell was born about 1885 probably in NYC. She married John Henry Martin and moved to Bridgeport, CT. She had three children: John H. Martin, Jr (Jack), Audrey Rose Martin, and Frances Martin (Babe).

I have one picture of her abt 1926. She died abt. 1930. John H. Martin, Sr. remarried someone named Betty.

The three Martin children all lived in CT for the rest of their lives. Audrey was only married a week, and Frances was married to John Pfriem until her death in 1964. Jack was a CT State trooper and had children. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Morrell name spellings would be helpful, too. Could be Merrill, I think.

Patty

He was born in GA, lived in Newton, Dale County, AL, Bibb County, (Childersburg) AL and in GA. Hope this helps.
Elisha Brewer
bfireball920@yahoo.com
Tom Quinn,

I am Elisha Brewer, a descendant of John Thomas Morrell b abt. 1793 in South Carolina. He is in Newton, Dale County, AL census, with some of his many children being born in GA and some in AL. He married Nancy Jane Stephens. His son Thomas M Morrell b. 1837 GA married Nancy Smith b. 1838 AL. The marriage was in Al IN 1858. They lived in Dale county until 1870 when they are in Rocky Creek, Butler County, AL. He enlisted in Dale Co. to volunteer for service in the 15th AL regiment. He died (north of the Ohio River) after swearing as a prisoner to stay there until the close of the war, in 1866. Nancy recieved widow's pension in 1867 and so on. They had Mary E Morrell, Jackson Morrell, (also spelled by "Jack" as "Myrell"), and Margaret A Morrell "Maggie", (also the name of Thomas M. Morrell's sister). She was born in 1858 in AL. She bore three children in Rocky Creek, Butler, AL by a married man, close neighbor and family friend, (good friend), Phillip Seale. They are Augustus, "Gus" Morrell, Mary Alice "Junior" Morrell, (my great great grandmother) and Tom Morrell. Maggie never married, and took that secret to her grave. Her mother Nancy helped her raise the children. Sometimes , the children raised her. She had rheumatism severely. They were all farmers. Mary Alice married William Elonzo "Lon" Rice in GA and she died in Fairhope/Point Clear, AL in 1978 when I was seven. She made heavenly biscuits every morning before sunrise. She's buried at Fairhope Memorial Gardens. I'd love to talk with you, as I also search daily for John Thomas's family origin or at least his parents. He was called by "Thomas" on census records.

Sincerely,

Elisha
bfireball920@yahoo.com

Caleb was about 20 years senior to Mary Ann. They were married Oct. 19, 1861. I'm trying to find out the parents of Caleb Senior. Caleb had 8 sons and 2 daughters. One of his sons was named Caleb as well (My paternal grandfather). I hope this helps..Cheers, Lionel

Jane Matilda MORRELL b Edmonton, London about 1900

Jane Morrell was born in Edmonton and spent most of her childhood in the Edmonton Union Workhouse (Chase Farm School). She left there at the age of 16 to go into service, and I can't find any record of her after that. Doesn't appear to have married in the UK. I did wonder if she ended up emigrating, as many workhouse children were assisted to emigrate around that time. I've checked all that sort of record that I can find though with no success. If anyone comes across her please contact me.
