I have found that her husband...maybe even she...was likely Scottish. There are clear naming conventions for children! I would find it very likely that her childrens names would be found in her parents, uncles/aunts or cousins.

I have a great great great grandmother whose name, I believe, is Millie (or Milly) Margaret Morrison, born approx 1808-1810, probably in Tennessee. She married John F Willey; they moved to Illinois. I am trying to find ANY information about her parents....the only possiblities I have found so far is a Miles and a James. Does this sound familiar to anybody???

I am looking for any information regarding Morgan Edward Morrison, or his wife, Ada. Morgan was born on March 23, 1875, and Ada was born in December of 1879. They lived in Claverack in Columbia County, New York. I have traced them since 1900 and lost them at about 1930. Also have nothing on either of them before 1900. They had 6 children. Sarah, Charles, Mabel, Anna, Edward and Nathan.

John Morrison and Margaret Morrison of Scotland

They would be my great great grandparents. Their son, David Ritchie Morrison, was born February 27, 1858 in Scotland, and came to Canada but I don't know when. Her father, JAMES MCPHERSON (1839 – 1922), was from Scotland, and her mother, MARTHA WARREN (1846 – 1939), was from England.

At the time of the 1870 census Joseph W. Griffiths was living in the household of Joseph Allott and Lavinia Mildren. Lavinia's older brother, Richard L. Mildren, and his wife lived next door. Neither couple had children of their own. On the other side of the Allott household lived Joseph's father or uncle, William Allott, and his family.

Joseph was listed as a nephew to Joseph and Lavinia Allott in the 1880 census.

After Joseph Allott's death Lavinia married James B. Morrison.
James B. Morrison is listed in the '1890 NEBRASKA STATE GAZETTEER FARMERS DIRECTORY' in Butler County.

Joseph William Griffiths b. 30 Jul 1892 Linwood, Butler County, Neb. He married Edith Mabel Wilson the daughter of Frank and Nora Wilson of Broadwater. (Nora was a widow in 1910 in Broadwater; 1920 lived next door to Joe in Cherry Co; and in 1900 she was in Kansas with husband Frank.) Kathryn is listed as being 9 years old in 1920 and born in Colorado. - [In Nebraska girls had to be 16 years old to get married with their parents permission or 21 without permission. Colorado was 12 with, 18 without. A lot of Nebraska girls went to Colorado to get married if under age in Nebraska, or if they were pregnant. They would stay there until a few months after the baby was born, then return with their 'big' baby.]
Joe registered with the draft 5 June 1917 in Cherry County. He worked on his dad's farm. He had a wife and 2 kids. This would indicate that his dad must have moved from Morrill County to Cherry County after 9 May 1910 and before 5 June 1917.

THOMAS WATSON GRIFFITHS was born 22 Oct 1895 in Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska. He married ETHEL IRENE MAHIN on 3 May 1916 in Bassett, Rock, Nebraska. He died 9 May 1966 in Bridgeport, Morrill, Nebraska.
ETHEL IRENE MAHIN was born 13 Jan 1901 in Osmond, Pierce, Nebraska. She died 8 Aug 1980 in Atkinson, Holt, Nebraska.
Both are buried in Bassett Memorial Cemetery, Bassett, Rock, Nebraska.
They had 4 children.

James Bryan Griffiths was born 22 Jul 1897 in Lincoln, Lancaster County, NE. He died 12 Nov 1918 in Cherry County, Nebraska.

William R, married Martina J. Stasch 5-1-1937 in St Francis, Todd County, SD. She was born 16 Feb 1916 and died 22 Jan 2005 in Portland, Multnomah County, OR

Virginia M. Griffiths was born 12 Jul 1908 in Nebraska (probably Morrill County, but maybe Box Butte), and died 17 Jul 1994 in College Place, Walla Walla, Washington.
Her husband was Theodore Nuernberger. He was born 25 Mar 1904 in Illinois, and died 5 Aug 1988 in Mabton, Yakima, Washington. His dad was also Theodore and his mother was Alma.

Angeline was born 17 Aug 1890 in Nebraska. She was married to Perry E. Shanks in 1907 in Box Butte County, Nebraska. She died Jan 1982 in Salem, Oregon. They had three children.

She was born January 19, 1936 in Zanesville , Ohioa daughter of the late Edmund and Geraldine Boni Morrison. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, enjoyed Bingo, loved watching Golf and Tiger Woods; and was an avid Ohio State Football fan.

Nancy is survived by her children, Randy (Jane) Abele of Millbrook, AL, Danny (Rhonda) Abele of Roseville, Ohio, Sherrie Armbrust of Philo, Ohio, Melissa (Dave) Elliott of Zanesville, Jonathan (Amy) Abele of Commercial Point, OH, Jason Abele of Dresden, Ohio, Patrick (Kara) Abele of Washington, NC and Megan (Tony) Nguyen of Zanesville; sister, Sara Morrison Lehman of Newark, OH; 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lisa Marie Abele in 1963; infant brother, David; the father of her children, Donald Abele; favorite brother-in-law, Harold Lehman; and aunts and uncle, Sis and Zane Houk, Kate Morrison; infant grandson, Chad Abele; and infant great grandson, Ashe Arai Elliott.

Special thanks to her extended family and caring staff at Adams Lane Care Center, for the love and care they showed to Nancy for many years.

Memorial services will be held at 1pm on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W. MILITARY RD., ZANESVILLE with Sara Morrison Lehman remembering her sister and sharing by family and friends.
Friends may call the hour prior to services.
At Nancy's request cremation has taken place. Private family memorial services will be held July 7, 2012.

Does anyone know anything about Nancy Helen Morrison? she was born in 1942 or 1943 in Australia to Robert Edward Morrison and Helen Katherine Rowe. Not sure when she left, but she went to England and was never really heard from after a while, I have heard she was a nurse also she might have gone to India at some point, I know this is a long shot, but these things have happened, if you know anything, please let me know, we would love to know, I know my grandmother (her sister) tried to get the red cross to find her but they didn't find anything, and that was a long time ago.

I am the granddaughter of John Keller Morrison. Thomas Richard Morrison was his father. I am having trouble finding any information on Thomas Richard related to birth, death, etc. He is listed on numerous family trees but there still doesn't appear to be much information. Thomas Richard was married to Mary Armilda Price. Other children included William Thomas, Alderson Harvey, Garland Nathaniel and Francis.

Just a Quick update... Bill Morrison was married to Dora Bailey...they were from Menifee Co, Ky. There were rumors through out that after they divorced that he may have went to florida somewhere. Not sure if that is true or if it will help or not...also my granpas birth cert has both his and his dads last name as Marshel instead of Morrison.

Cherie, according to the information I have, Thomas Richard is William Thomas's father, not William Thomas. I am having problems finding anything on Thomas Richard beyond a birthdate of approximately October 1873 according to a census record. I am the granddaughter of John Keller who is a brother to William T., Garland and Albert. You may have already seen my info on my family tree.

Charlotte Daugherty married Thomas Morrison, in and around the Fayette County, Pa. I know that when Charlotte died she was in Washington, Pa. I am not sure when she died but I do think it was in late 70's . Do you know who they are if so please let me know .. Charlotte would of been my aunt.

I am trying to determine if my MORRISON family has ties to the Rev. Dr. Robert Hall MORRISON family in NC. If not, then how do they connect to NC? I've not had much success finding others researching this MORRISON line.

Does anyone else have this MORRISON family line? Any info on Jeremiah's father?

I don't want to through you off track, but here is some information I have. It is believed that Alonzo Morrison born about 1825 could be my 2d Great Grandfather. However, the only information I have is from the Federal Census Mortality Schedules, 1850-1885 is that he drowned in August of 1850 and that he was a Sailor, Navy Personnel Censy\us location: Racine, Racine, Wisconsin. The census of 1850 list him as being married. I have the wife listed as Sarah. It is believed his son (also named Alonzo) who would be my Great Grandfather (born July 1850). at 20 months was place with the Stroup Family in Fond du Lac Wisconsin to live and was raised to manhood by them and married Carrie Rice in Fond du Lac in December 1880. They later divorced and the last I can find of him as he lived with a family named Marsh in Irondale, Arapahoe County, CO in 1900 and was a farm laborer. I am still trying to determine where (who I believe) my 2d Great Grandfather was born. I you have any information that could help, I would appreciate it.

I had a 2d Great Grandfather named Alonzo Morrison who was born in Wisconsin in July, 1850, He married (Dec 1880) and then divorced (date Unknown) a Carrie Rice and was last know to have lived with a family named Marsh in 1900 in Irondale, Arapahoe Co, CO as a Farm Laborer. Lost track of him after that. Could this be the same person>

According to Ancestry, Andrew Morrison was born in Belfast in 1733. He is in group "I" family tree dna and a 66/67 match to William Morrison of Hickman County, TN. William was born in VA or NC in 1766. Andrew might have been William's father or his uncle. Possibly one or both came from the county of Angus Scotland.
There appear to be two "Andrews" coming to the US about the same time. I would love to hear from any Irish or Scot that thinks there could be a connection.

Farmer was the only child of Col. Charles Henry and Frances M. "Fannie" Farmer Morrison (married Ouachita Parish, LA May 15, 1875), who was the daughter of William Wood Farmer, a Liet. Gov. of Louisiana. Farmer was orphaned at the age of 8 months and was raised by his widowed aunt Carolyn K. Morrison Purvis, the C.K. Purvis you saw on the census. Farmer Morrison was the last survivor of that branch of the Farmers. I have no connection to the Farmers or the Morrisons, just helping the Local SCV get a headstone for his uncle William Wood Farmer, Jr.. He served with his Brother-in-law Charles in the 31st LA. and never married.

I suggest you start out at the Scotland's People web site.

This is the official genealogy site for Scotland. Your George was born in 1858 so you need to check the Statutory records, not the parish registers.

On Line registration is required for access. Searches can be done for free, but there is a nominal cost to view the results which are first, lists of possibilities, and second, microfilm copies of the actual records. Payment is done using "credits" and the cost is nominal. 30 credits costs about $10.00 US.
