I am looking for information on Samuel Mosgrove from Fermanagh, Ireland. He was born in the 1880's and married in New York, Winifred M Smyth of Fermanagh, Ireland in 1927. Winnie had a twin sister who remained in Ireland her whole life. Winnie lived in NY from 1912 until dying there in 1983. Winnie father was Wm. Smyth, Ballylona Co., Ballynahinch, Ireland. My great grandmother was Annie Mosgrove, daughter of John and Isabella McComb Mosgrove. I hear they still have a large homestead in the area. I was wondering if you are related

Hi, Iam trying to trace my family tree and have reached a stumbling block. I am trying to find out information on Elizabeth Mosgrove born in Ireland about 1839. I believe her parents were Thomas Mosgrove and Jean Graham. She married an Irishman named William Hutchison in Scotland in 1859. I wonder if you can be of any help.

kristi, i would love to have a copy of your book, my ggrandmother was martha beatrice mosgrove, she was born in tn. but her family came from ill., the lived in pike co , i have found them in the census, she has two sisters one named florence and i beleive the other one was clara. i would love to have any info on the mosgroves and thanks. pat

check out Mosgrove Cemetery, Piatt Co., Illinois on Find A Grave - everything I know now is there. I would be happy to send you any of those photos - they would be a higher resolution that what is posted on the web.

I will be returning to Monitcello, IL for the family reunion next Labor Day wekend, and can run out there to check for anything I missed or get some more general shots and better close-ups.

I can also check at the library to see if there is a transcription that may list some lost or unmarked graves.

The Mosgrove Cemetary is located near Monticello, Illinois. Monticello is about 20 miles west of Champaign, Illinois. It is near a state park called Lodge Park. I used to live across the street from it in an area that used to be known as Slabtown. There is an old corn grinding mill stone located in front of the cemetary and the cemetary was restored about 8 years ago by local eagle scouts so now it has a split rail fence around it and several stones are still legible. I would be happy to tell you more or even give driving directions if needed.

I am actually doing some research into the Detmer family of Tarrytown NY, and it brings me back to the Mossgrove Family.

John and almeedia Mosgrove were my grandparents. My father's name was Albert Mosgrove. He first married Flossie Settles and had 11 kids with her. Later he married my mother Maudie Boggs. there are four of us.Someone who might be able to give you information about John Hugh is my half brother James Mosgrove. My mother was Virginia Mosgrove and I grew up in the trailer just north of this cemetery. Otherwise known as "Slabtown" . For anyone interested I have a book written by my Great-Grandmother called Musgrave - Mosgrove 1408 - 1982. It has information on every person buried in that cemetery plus numerous others. Her name was Glenna James Mosgrove. She was married to Charles A. Mosgrove, my great grandfather. My photo is also in this book. If anyone is interested please email me.

There is a Ross Mossgrove in the 1900 Census for Jefferson County, Ohio who was born in 1859 in Ohio. His mother was born in Mass. and his father was born in Ireland. He was married around 1898 to Alice Owen/Owens who was born 1869 in WV. They had two sons: Ross b. 1897 in Oh and Wallace b. 1900 in Oh

I have a William J., son of John Mosgrove and Sarah Perrett, who came to Ellis Island in 1908. His sister was my children's ggrandmother, and she resided in Lima, OH. I am in the process of doing more research on the family and would be glad to help out.

To Don Mossgrove: I have just acquired a copy of a deed to real estate in Newark, Ohio that was sold by George W. and Sarah M. Mossgrove on 21, July 1913. The Ancestry.com Family History Online, American Civil War Soldiers, lists five George Mossgroves, four have the middle intial of {W} and are from Ohio. To further tie George W. Mossgrove to the above data I found the 1850 Census, Muskingum county, Ohio where it lists him as being (11) eleven years old, this would make his birthday in 1839 and at an age of 74 when he sold the real estate in Newark, Ohio. I believe this George W. Mossgrove is the son of James Mossgrove and the brother of Alexander W. Mossgrove. Alexander W. is my great grandfather. Could this George W. Your ancestor,Alice P. Musgrove Campbell,was the daughter of Franklin Newton and Hester Ann (Phillips) Musgrove. They are buried in Harrison Co.,IA. They were married in Parke Co.,IN and came to Iowa ca. 1875. Hester's parents were John and Martha (Myers) Phillips. Franklin Newton Musgrove's parents were Samuel Wilson and Rebecca (Mills) Musgrove,Jr.
I am a gg grandson of James Franklin Phillips (Hester's brother) and Rebecca Isabelle Musgrove (Franklin's sister).I have quite a bit more info if you are interested. Just let me know.
