Are the names Doroteo Mosqueda and Matiana Medina any part of your family history. They were originally from Michoacan, but one of their children, Hilario Mosqueda, must have been born elsewhere because there is no record of his birth in Michoacan. Another of their children was a Francisco. Please let me know if there is any connection. Thank you.....Nancy Martinez honeynan@aol.com

Oh and the majority of the Mosquedas that I know from 'La Noria de Mosqueda' in Guanajuato, reside in North Carolina. I actually go to school with one, he is quite tan but has noticeable ears. Also California and South Carolina has Mosqueda families that I know and some in Texas.

This is really interesting because it all adds up. I am Mexican American with Spanish roots. Recently today I found out my maternal grandmother's surname was Mosqueda and found it very interesting because my parents are originally from Valle de Santiago, Guanjuato. What is even more interesting is the fact that my father's family and maternal grandmother are from 'La Noria de Mosqueda' a small town in Valle de Santiago named after the Mosquedas I am assuming. My family and I visit there every summer and I have to say there is a huge population of Mosquedas there, many with larger than average ears. Haha and there is also a family we are friends with that are very fair skinned that also have the last name Mosqueda.

Mosqueda is my second last name and comes from my Grandmother, Rufina Mosqueda Nunez, though she lived in Guanajuato, MX. and I have not had more information about my moms side....family history. Any information is highly appreciated.

The only thing I know about him is that he was from Michoacan and the son of Doroteo Mosqueda and Matiana Medina. He had about 11 siblings. I know that some of his siblings ended up in Texas. Unfortunately there are no pictures of any of them. Do you know where your ancestors are from?
.....Nancy

Mosqueda's from Starr County

Hello dear Mosqueda families;
My mother was born Lucia Mosqueda but her father was killed by a woman when mom was only about 3 years old. She and the other 2 children were abandoned by their biological mother. At the age of 10 my mom was adopted by the Langley family in Rio Grande City, TX (Starr County). The Langley family only wanted her as an indentured servant; typical of the era circa; late 1920-1930's. Does any one out there have any information or know of a similar story? My mother kept her adopted name of Langley even after the State of Texas took her at the age of 14. I only found out about the Mosqueda name around 1995. I would love to chat with any one that knows of any Mosqueda family that may have lived in that area. Mom's biological brother was named Jose and was in the Army. Her sister was Dolores but not much more is known of the two siblings.

Do you know if you're any relation to the Mosqueda's in the Central Valley of California (Stockton, Lodi area)? They all have the "big goofy ears", too. I was doing my husband and children's geneology for awhile, but ran into so many dead ends I finally stopped. I'd like to try it again, though, if I could just find a few leads.

Hopefully,
Debra

Hi!
i've noticed that most Mosquedas posting in Ancestry.com are from the US!
just to let everyone know, there's a town here in Cebu, Philippines (South East Asia), called Alcoy, Cebu...Full of Mosquedas. My grandmother Ciriaca Mosqueda was originally from Alcoy. And she used to tell me stories of her family. She doesnt really know where her grandfather was originally from, but she said that he came during the Spanish colonization in the Philippines in the 1600s...
Hi Jerry,

My name is Martha Mosqueda. I was surfing through the web trying to find out where I come from so I could fill out the US Census. I consider myself Mexican/Mexican American, but according to the US census, this is not a "race", and the only other options they give are white, negro/african american, pacific islander, and a few Asians. Anyways, I am assuming I am a mix of races.

I am on the darker side of a Mexican, short, and petite. My mom look African from south america, and my dad is spanish/aztec looking.

My dad was born in El Zapote, Guanajuato, Mexico
My dad's dad (Ramon Mosqueda Barron) was born in Chicago, Illinois and My dad's mom was born in Guanajuato, Mexico.
My granpa and his male siblings are tall, long eared, blonde, and one or two have blue eyes.

Same as you said in your post: the Mosqueda's still own a few ranches in guanajuato. I always hear my aunts and uncles talk about their stories how they used to be the wealthy who had ranches and all the latest technology of their time. My oldest uncle is about 60yrs old.

According to my dad, my grandma was of aztec descent and married my grandpa of european descent.

I am not sure where my grandfather's parents where from (Guanajuato or Illinois), but I could trace that back when I ask my aunts and uncles. Unfortunately both of my dad's parents are deceased. But fortunately, our family still owns ranches in Guanajuato and I still have 1 uncle in Guanajuato and my grandma's dad is still alive and in guanajuato (yes he is still alive with about 98 years of age!!!)

Anyways, I found your post, and was amazed because all I know is what you said: Chicago and Guanajuato. I thought this might help you and all of us in our search for our descendants.

Email me if you have any questions about Mosqueda's and I can direct you to some of my family members.
mosqueda150@hotmail.com

Thank you!

Re: MOSQUEDA ORIGINS

Hello
I was born in Austin, TX and lived there unitil I married and then moved around a bit (my husband was in the military)before settling in Alexandria, VA. We have lived here since 1982. Since visiting Madrid in 1999, I have been interested in the Mosqueda family history.
My dad was born in Irapuato, Guanajuato in 1911 and came to the US in 1917. All of the family came, parents, brothers, sisters and some cousins.
My dad settled in Austin and lived there the rest of his life. He married my mom Nestora (Nora) Arredondo who was born in Buda a short distance from Austin.
I was intrigued with your information on "big ears". My dad had ears that were somewhat large, but my brother is the one who has inherited the somewhat larger ears. I am being diplomatic here because he may read this message at some point. I understand that my grandfather (he died when I was 13 or so) was also the fortunate recpient of this physical characteristic.
I hope to visit Irapuato next year after I have done considerable more research.
BTW my last name is Mosqueda even though I am married to a Walsh.
I would love to hear from other Mosquedas whose family comes from the same regions as my dad.
Happy researching.
Elsie
