Ancient connection?

Hi there, Muniz! :)
I have 12 Y-DNA STR markers (G2a3a haplogroup) similar with a Gerena Aguiar and a Muniz from Puerto Rico. This means that I have a common ancestor with these persons - that lived 900 years ago (95% probability).
I see that the families Gerena and Muniz are connected to a town Lares in PR.

I was born in south-central Romania. The G2a3a haplogroup is probably related to the Sarmatian population in Eastern Europe – joining the roman legions 2000 years ago.

Greetings from Romania! :)
The New Braunfels area saw a large number of Germans and Poles (both coming from the old German Empire) immigrate to the area. Muniz is not a German surname, but since Texas used to be a Spanish colony, it could be a hispanic local married into an immigrant family.

I am looking for my Paternal Grandfather. His name is Antonio Muñiz born in Arecibo,PR. From what my Abuela recalls...his mom's name was Francisca Muñiz. His brother's name were Rigoberto, Juan, and had a sister named Blanca. If still alive...he would be in his mid to late 80's. Last she heard he was seen in New York many years ago. Although he never married my grandmother, they had 2 sons together named Hector Manuel Muñiz (my father), and Jose Antonio Muniz - both in their 50's. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?

Everardo Muniz/Guadalupe Herna from TX and CA

Does anyone have anyone by the name of Everardo Muniz in their family tree? I'm pretty sure the one I'm looking for was born in 1914 and died in San Diego in November of 1978. His wife's name was Berta, maiden name Ronquillo. They had three kids, Olga, b. July 8, 1946, Berta b. Nov. 25, 1947, and Everardo Muniz Jr, b. March 20, 1950.

Next of kin on his WWII dog tag was listed as: Guadalupe Herna
821 S. Oregon St.
Saso, TX

I'm trying to get his Army dog tag back to his family. There is absolutely no charge for the return of the tag. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sounds like he was a character. In 1939, at the age of 25, he shot up an El Paso bar, "old west" style, (shooting out a window, a mirror and at the ceiling), yelling "yippee" and making all sorts of noise, according to the newspaper article. Any of this sound like a familiar family story? Please don't write back to maggiesmemories, but use this email francesca@starstreamcable.com Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Hi Ileana, I've read some of your post about your Auffant family. There's just so many of them (Auffants that is). In fact there's a few Rosa Auffants as well. I just got back from my first trip to Puerto Rico (ponce) and was able to find the remains of the house my GGGrandmother Rosa Auffant y Torres de Pagan lived in. By remains I mean that it burnt almost to the ground, just enough left to identify the address on the front porch. Being a firefighter myself the irony was not lost on me that if the local bomberos hadn't done a quick job I would have found a vacant lot.

His dad died in the 40's and his mom died in July of 1984. If anyone knows more about my dads father I would love to know, and if you have a picture thats even better. I dont know any one who has a picture of him.

Los Padrones de San German?

Greetings!! In an earlier posting, a microfilm was referred to, entitled "Los Padrones de San German..." I don't seem to be able to locate this in the familysearch.org library catalog and would ENORMOUSLY appreciate information about where/how/etc. I might be able to borrow a copy, and the microfilm identification number. I would especially be looking for the surnames Capielo de la Torre and Castejon, likely in/ near Bucarabones, Puerto Rico. Thank you!

Epifanio Medina appears in Los Padrones de San German, riqueza agricola y pecunaria de 1870-72, a microfilm which lists the riches in land, cattle and or crops of the most influential people in San German. He is listed in Barrio Bucarabones, which later became part of the town of Maricao. He appears next to Gregorio Medina, who is my great-great grandfather. I wonder if they are related. Iknow Gregorio came from Spain as an officer in the Spanish Army and married Concepcion Toledo of Lares?. I have a microfilm which I have been viewing and soon hope to have some answers

My e-mail is actually sotobren@earthlink.net
