Hello. I am looking for the parents of Johan Månsson (b. 7 Aug 1859 in Öfraby, Kristianstad, Sweden) and his wife Karna Mårtensdotter (b. 17 Mar 1860 in Stora Köpinge, Kristianstad, Sweden). They are my third great-grandparents. They immigrated from Sweden to Minnesota in the late 1880s. I haven't been able to find much information on their parents or grandparents. I am also looking for any of their descendants. They had the following children:
Johanna "Jennie" Månsdotter (b. 16 Feb 1882 in Öfraby, Kristianstad, Sweden)
Helena Månsdotter (b. 26 August 1883 in Tranås, Jönköping, Sweden)
Emma Eleanora Månsdotter (b. 11 September 1886 in Tranås, Kristianstad, Sweden)
Anna Maria Munson my great-great grandmother (b. 15 Dec 1887 in Tranås, Malmöhus, Sweden)
Hilma Munson (b. 2 Jan 1892 in Minnesota)
Andrew Munson (b. June 1893 in Minnesota)
Carl Munson (b. 27 Feb 1903 in Minnesota)

If you are a descendant of any of these children, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Matthew L.
I think I can provide quite a bit of info - depending on how much you need. I'm not sure which family line you're following, but would be happy to share what I know.
My name is Lynn and Bill & Polly Munson are my maternal grandparents. Their oldest daughter, Dixie, is my mother. I'm not sure how you connect to the "Berry" side?...are you a child of Irene, Polly's younger sister? I have names/dates and relationships of Polly's side as well as Bill's side. Unfortunately, both of them have passed. Grandpa in 1978 and Grandma Polly in 2006. Fill me in on what you're after and I can be more specific. :)
Warm Regards,
Lynn

Re: Elizabeth Hawkins - wife of John Munson

The book "The History of the Old Town of Derby, Connecticut, 1642-1880" by Samuel Orcutt and Ambrose Beardsley, published in 1880, lists John Munson, Elizabeth Hawkins, and their seven children in the genealogical section on page 747. Rev. Orcutt isn't always 100% accurate, but you can use it as a starting point for further research.
(As a for instance, Rev. Orcutt lists Hannah as having married the Stephen Pierson born in the 1600's instead of the Stephen born in 1720...the younger Stephen is more likely.)

Hello... I am enclosing an obit of a Mildred Johnson (maiden name Parmelee) who was married to an Amos Munson. She then married a Samuel Davis, and then J.C. Johnson....

Hope this helps you out.

I am not related to this family…just FYI.

Longmont Ledger (Longmont, Boulder County)
Mar 20, 1908 Page 5

DIED

JOHNSON--In Longmont, at the home of her son, L. O. Munson of pneumonia, Tuesday, March 17, 1908, Mrs. Mildred M Johnson, aged 66 years 9 months and 16 days.
Another good woman has answered the last call of this world, and a noble Christian woman has gone to her eternal home. Those who knew her best will agree with us when we say that if all human beings could be as kind and thoughtful of others as Mrs. Johnson, trouble would be scarce. We have known her personally for a good many years, and have respected her very much for her man y good qualities. She was one of the leading members of the Christian Science church of Longmont, and a woman of unusual business abilities.
Mildred M. Parmelee was born at Charon, Ohio, Jan 1, 1841. She was married to Amos Munson Sept. 4, 1862, Mr. Munson dying April 19, 1877, leaving one son of their marriage. She married Samuel Davis of Highlandlake and lived near there for a number of years. Mr. Davis passed away and about June 1884, Mrs. Davis married J. C. Johnson, living with him for eight years when he, too passed to the great beyond.
Mrs. Johnson has lived with the family of her son for a number of years.
Some of the grandchildren have been away at school, but are all expected home soon.
She was a sister of Frank Parmelee.
Funeral services will be conducted from the residence Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. A Christian Science reader will take a part in them, and the Rev. D. A. Strong will also be present.
I am search for a person with the name Steve Munson. I believe he grew up in alexandria, virginia and lived in the Rose Hill area. My mother Karen Garland (passed 1973)knew him, but no one I talk to seems to remember him. My Grand parents never told me anything of him either. Now that they are passed I am left with a blank page in my life and my childrens lives. I would just like to find out if he is indeed my birth father.

Lucy Pittsley (Munson?) DOB May 1861

I have just found someones notes stating that Lucy Pittsley Creeley, who married William Creeley in 1884, was previously married to a Munson. During that marriage she apparently had the children, Flora M. DOB April 1880 and George F. DOB July 1883 place of birth is listed as Pa in most census. William Creeley supposedly adopted Flora & George. I have no first name for Munson. George is my GG Grandfather. I know it's a long shot but any help is greatly appreciated.

W.H. Munson - South Carolina

I am looking for any information regarding W.H. (possibly Walter) Munson, b abt 1898, Charleston, South Carolina. At the age of 26, W.H. is listed as the father on the birth certificate of Norish Patricia Munson, b 15 Oct 1926 at Charity Hospital, New Orleans LA. The mother, Mary Sullivan, b abt 1909 in McCormick SC, was residing at St. Vincent's Infant Asylum in New Orleans at the time of Norish Patricia's birth. The daughter was adopted about 10 days later. W.H.'s occupation is listed as "card writer." Research indicates the father may be Walter H. Munson (b Sep 1898) SC, son of Walter Norish Munson and Henrietta Brown. It is possible a second child of W.H. and Mary, Guy Munson age 2, was placed at St. Vincent's at the same time as Norish Patricia. I have been unable to find any proof that W.H. and Mary were married.

Any information or clues regarding W.H. and/or the Munson family in South Carolina will be greatly appreciated.
Hello. I've been looking for the Munson Family from Tyre NY. I'm looking for a link to my family tree (Solomon/Sayre/Sayer). It is said that my ggg-grandmother Anna (Sayre) Solomon died in 1836 and was buried in the Stephen Munson Family Cemetary... (she was wife to William C. Solomon). No one seems to know where that Cemetary is. The historian in Seneca County says that may have been on a family farm. Do you know where this may be?

Hi Jan:

Thanks for taking the time in forwarding this information. Guess my "hunch" about "my" Mary Munson's parents being Ann Atwater and Joshua Munson was wrong!!! Now I'll move on to the next two candidates . . .

Death certificates & records during the mid 1850's in NY are almost non existent or I'd have taken that path as my first choice. Maybe the town historian for Camden might have some information about the Mary Munson that was born 2/14/1776 . . .

Thank you for your time.

Leslie (AZ)

From "Atwater History" by Francis Atwater, published 1901, it states that Ann Atwater, dau of Daniel, md Joshua Munson, born 30 Jan 1712. Their daughter Mary was born 17 July 1770 and md 28 Dec 1795 to Amaziah Rose of Branford. No other marriages listed, nor is any death date given. I am not related to the Atwater's, just happen to have the book. If I can be of further assistance, let me know. Jan

Everett Munson and Lloyd Armstrong drowned 1906 Colorado

I am not related to this family…

The Longmont Ledger
Longmont, Boulder Co, Colorado
Friday December 28, 1906

Death of Two by Drowning

A very distressing accident occurred on Cole’s lake, 1 ½ miles north-east of Berthoud about noon on Wednesday. A party of about twenty young folks were skating on the lake, when Lloyd Armstrong, a young man nineteen years of age, broke through. Everett Munson, about seventeen years of age, went to his rescue and went in also. Albert Sampson attempted to help them and he too went in but succeeded in getting out after a hard struggle, being assisted by a rope secured from a nearby haystack some possessed with enough presence of mind to do something. Munson and Armstron were both drowned in full view of their helpless mates.
Everett Munson was the only son of J. Y. Munson, County Commissioner of Larimer county, and Lloyd Armstrong’s mother was a widow named Briggs. She and her son came to Colorado last summer for the benefit of his health.
It was a horrible accident, more so because it seems so unnecessary. Mr. and Mrs. Munson can have the satisfaction of knowing that their son did a noble deed in fearlessly going to the help of his companion in danger.
Funeral services will be held in the Presbyterian church today at Berthoud, and the remains of Everett will be brought to the Longmont cemetery for interment, while that of Lloyd will be sent to Illinois.

Note: There are more references to the Munson and Armstrong family in the Longmont Ledger Directory.
If you are interested in any of the references contact me at acg13666@yahoo.com and I could get a copy on my next visit to Longmont.
Anna

Here is the link to the newspaper.
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~colgs/ledgerindex.htm
