My Murcia line hails from Granada, Spain, specifically the towns of Salobrena and Almunecar. My line moved to New York City around 1911 and has lived here ever since.

Any other Murcia's out there from these same areas? I would love to share information.

I too am married into the Murcia family. who is your mother-in-law? My father-in-law is Jaime Ome Murcia from Bogota. His father was Santiago Murcia and his mother was Berta Ome. Any connection?

Santos Murcia married Felisa Santania probably in Naranjal in the 1920s. they had a son, Santiago who was born in 1927 in Naranjal. Santiago married Berta Ome from Timina. My father-in-law, Jaime Murcia was born in Timina and my husband was born in Bogota. My husband's mother was in the Peace Corps and met his father in Colombia. They moved to the United States (Iowa) when my husband was about 3 years old. I know there is a cousin in New Jersey and I think one in Florida.

Our Murcia's from Bogota and probably Boyaca. Check out my family tree. My grandfather was a landlord in Bogota , Sabana with haciendas in Faca and El Rosal. We still own the land in these areas. His name Murcia Gonzales. Married to Maria Santamaria. Abt 10 kids: Milena, Antonio, Jesus Maria, Jairo Alfonso(my dad - youngest), Gloria, Pedro Nel, Jose Vicente, Librada Pinzon - probably from another wife and others that I cannot recall. My dad was the youngest - Jairo Alfonso so little contact with his Dad. They were brought up in Teusaquillo/La Soledad neighborhood in Bogota Colombia. Hope this sheds some light. Don't know anything abt my grandfather's brothers or sisters.

My husband said his uncle name is santiago he could be the same one. My mother-n-laws name is Beatriz Murcia thats what we call her ,the hole name is Anna Beatriz Murcia it could be the same one and that would be neat there are not alot of Murcia's out here. Where are you guy's from if you dont mind me asking? My sister-n-law had said a couple of her cusions move to U.S. From Bogota

I am married in to the murcia family my mother in law is from bogta columbia she has all her family out there. She moved to UNITED STATES/in MO. she had her kid here 30 yrs. ago but they still go to columbia to see her family. If you need more info. christine e-mail me.
