Probably your spanish it is not good enougth... let me tell you that i undestand everything you say... my grandpa was Juan Muro Medrano (RIP) and you´re right, he was from The Zapote from Colotlan. His father was named Victoriano Muro, he had two wives, but i really do not remember the names. The first woman died and he after married with other one, it´s all that i know
We should be proud of where we came of, i would like to know more about all my family, and i appreciate any information

He was born between 1874 and 1876 and came to US around 1901. Married Rosaria DiAsera and had baby Francesca (my great grandma)in 1906 NYC. Looking for his parents and other family in Italy.

Saw that your trying to find info in Colotlan about your family. If they were from Villanueva, you might have to check with the church in Jerez, Zac. I dont think I've ever heard the name Muro mentioned when I speak to my parents, they both are from Colotlan, but you never know. Good luck.

Not sure how this works, but I posted twice in regards to finding out anything about my family along with some names given to me through my biological mother. I grew up in a foster home and don't know anyone from my biological family besides my mother, half sister, whole sister and half brother who is no longer living. My mother told me my father's name is Daniel Ortiz Muro and that he is no longer living either. Don't know if his nationality is mexican or italian. My biological mother has a mental disability due to extreme physical abuse throughout her life that caused major brain disfunctions so asking her for information was extremely difficult. If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. The last name I'm looking for is Muro, other than that I know nothing.

Hello, my grandfather was Felipe Muro from Zacatecas, we are trying to find the origin of the last name because it is not common, some people says that it comes from Italy othe people ask me if I am Japaness, but Muro is only a name in Japan, I would like to know more.

hi i know its kind of late...My grandmother is from Coloctlan... San nicolas to be exact so im wondering if their is a connection...Her name Is Virginia Muro, her father is jose Muro (papa Chepo) and mother is Leonora Muro...Their children were Ernestina, oliva, Marcos. and I know their is still family that lives in that area. The last time i have visited was a few years ago and i even visited san nicolas...it is breath taking!! beautiful!! i am knew to this and cant seem to finad any history or go further back then Jose Muro... If you can help that would be great... I know the story was that Jose Muro had built the ranch out of rocks...and it still stands til this day.

My husband's grandfather was a gun runner for Pancho Villa. He was playing both sides during the Revolution. Hence the quick trip north in the early 1920's. His father buried the rifles in the desert somewhere, but he passed away last year and so did his secret.

Evie, it looks like you have gotten much further in your research than I have. Thank you for the information. Bartolo Villegas & Narcisa Rodrigues are my 6th great grandparents. They are from my paternal grandfather's side of the family. I just found out about Bartolo & Narcisa when I got the baptismal record of Polonio Ortiz, their grandson. The copy is hard to read, but I could pass it down to you if you're interested.

Sorry my previous post went back a couple generations. Bartolo's parents were Juan Florencio Villegas and Pascuala Flores (b. 21 Feb 1729)

WOW. I hope you will share your research. Juan Florencio Villegas (son of Bartolome Villegas and Nicolasa Rodriguez) was born in Ameca, JAL (or possibly Old Ameca in Zac?) and married Pascuala Flores in 1759 in Colotlan, JAL. He died there in 1801. I have the birth records of 4 possible brothers and sisters who were born born between 1729 and 1734 in Tlaltenango De Sanchez Roman, ZAC. Several of them married in Colotlan near the time of Juan’s marriage. The padrino for Juan’s marriage was Maria Saldana, and Petra Saldana is the padrina for Juan’s daughter who was born in Colotlan in 1760. Hope you can fill in the missing links.

I hope you are still researching. This is in response to your post of many years. I just discovered my 6th great grandmother was Maria de la Luz Leanos from Colotlan. She was the mother of my 5th great grandfather Dionicio Ortiz who married Martina Villegas, all from Colotlan.

I know your post is an old one, but when I looked at it, I got excited... Jose Guillermo Villegas was the older brother of my 5th great grandmother, Martina Villegas. She married Dionicio Ortiz also from Colotlan. Her parents and our common ancestor were Bartolo Villegas and Maria Narcisa Rodrigues.

Hi, I'm trying to find some info if possible about my biological family. I grew up in a foster home and just found out yesterday some names of family members. My mother's full name is Claudia Gloria Vasquez, my father's name is Daniel Ortiz Muro. My grandparents from my mother's side are Inez Torrez Vasquez(married name), and Ascencion Vasquez. My grandfather on my dad's side is still unknown but my grandmother's name on his side is Soledad Ortiz Muro. My mother had 5 sisters and 6 brothers. Their names are Guadalupe, Magdalena, Juana, Juanita, Maria, and Henrietta. The brothers names are Joseph, Chon, Jesus, Ignacio, and Reyes. I am trying to find more info but it would be great if I could at least find some answers. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks :)

Hello, I am responding to you post about. Maria Muro. I had a Grandfather PABLO, also from Zacatecas, also from an extremely remote mining village of Mesquital del oro (not sure on spelling).

The grandfather PABLO came to the US in the 1920's or 30's. He married a woman named Julia and they had three children. Pablo died around 1933 or 34.

Could he have been related to your grandmother Maria?

Interesting that there is also a Pablo in your family.

I wish I knew more about my family. How did Muro's come to Mexico? Does your grandmother know?

Need obit for Cleofas J. Muro b. 12 Aug 1924 died 10 June 2005 in Algondones. OR need to contact any member of his or siblings family. His mother is Luisa - oldest sister is Maria who served LDS (Mormon) mission in Mexico 1938-39. My father also served mission at that time period and I have possible pictures of her and other missionaries. Would like someone to identify possible pictures of Maria Muro - do not know her married name. Maria died 20 April 1998. Would like to contact any of the Muro family

The earliest Muro we have is michael muro born may 8 1878 in castlegrande potenza married rose ricco and moved to Norwalk Ct. they had 8 children. We believe that he had brothers and sisters that moved to Ct also but we don't have any of that information.

Yes indeed the family is from castlegrande potenza. the family came to Norwalk CT. this is also my husbands family. My mother in law knows that she had other relatives that lived in Norwalk but she didn't know their names. Her grandfather was michael Muro who married rose ricco. both buried in St John's Cemetery in Norwalk

Sorry, I don't recall a Martha Muro and I don't see her listed yet on our family tree. It's possible she is a very distant cousin of ours since we do have 2 and 3 cousins in CA., but most of them reside in Riverside, Lomita and the Torrance area and some in Santa Monica. Basically Los Angeles County. If I do recall a Martha or see her name in my notes I will email you. Good-luck in your search for an old friend. I will defintely ask my dad too because he was stationed in CA for awhile (Camp Pendelton) (Marine Corp), he fought in Korea. I don't think he has ever mentioned a Martha Muro. My dad is about 70 and I know she isn't a first cousin of his.

If you are real set on finding her you could go to the local courthouse in the county she grew up in, they usually have books (Brides & Grooms) Alphabetically and you could look in the time-frame from 1956-1965 if that is when you think she was married. I believe marriage records can be public information because, well I know I can go into our local courthouses here in Kansas City and look up family members etc to find a marriage date and name etc. They usually won't give out personal info but I bet you could get a name and marriage date.

My name is Sarah Muro and I am married to Nicola Muro from Campagna, Italy. Campagna is a 45 min. trip from Salerno. My father in law came to the United States in 1906 and remained in Philadelphia until 1927. He returned to Italy, married Anna Moscato and they had six children. He died on January 5, 1962. Five of the six children are alive and Anna Moscato Muro died seven years ago. I hope that this information can be of some help to you.

Still looking for Martha and every time that I look through this board, there is a sense of excitement in me. I checked several places and subscribed to a couple search engines; no luck. Just last week, the librarian from San Fernando SHS called leaving a message that they could not give me anything over the telephone / mail but that I was welcomed to visit and research.
