Hi, Ken . . .
Thanks for the reply. "My" John
Cleveland was my great-grandfather (whom I never met).
I obtained the information that I have from his death certificate (I've discovered the hard way, though, that death certs are some-
times NOT correct). At any rate, it shows his birth date as December 10th, 1856 and his death date was June 26, 1919. His birth-place is shown as
Missouri. His father's name is shown as John
Cleveland Murray also,
and his mother is shown as Lottie
HarringtonMurray. His mother's name is no doubt correct, since he named one of his daughters
Lottie. I have a copy of his marriage cert to my great-grandmother Leah
Belle Morris.
They were married in
Sonoma County,
Calif on
June 2nd 1877. If "your" John
Cleveland was married to Margaret E., they're probably not
the same man -- unless there was more than
one marriage. I DO know one thing, though --
I haven't found too many John
ClevelandMurrays. There was one other in San
Fran-
cisco about the same time that my g-grand-
father was living in
Sonoma County.
It's quite possible that there is a family
"tie-in" somehow, though. Do you know in
what COUNTY in
Missouri your gg was born?
If I come up with anything new, I'll let you
know.
Sincerely,
Diane
