Old Campbellton and Cross Point photos

My grandmother, May (Murray) Macdonald was born in Rogersville, NB in 1885 and grew up in Campbellton. She left many photographs, most of which have unidentified people from Campbellton, NB and Cross Point, Quebec. Her husband, John "Jack" Macdonald is in many of them---he was from Saint John and is an uncle of former Canadian cabinet minister Donald Macdonald. Here's the link to the google photo album:

https://plus.google.com/photos/113004996385458190982/albums/...

If any ring a bell, please let me know!
Jim Condon
Colchester, VT

Frank Murray Born:1880 in either Arkansas or Missouri, I've seen hints for both Died:1966 in Fresno, California

His Wife
Tommie Leoda Smith Born:1891 Arkansas Died:1969 in Fresno, California

Both are buried at the Belmont Memorial Park Cemetery in Fresno, California along with their daughter Beatrice.

There were nine children. It seems Frank had a child before marrying Tommie, her name is Naomi. Together Frank and Tommie had:
Ruth - Beatrice - J.C. - Robert - Imogene - Thelma - Samuel (died in WW2)

If I make a connection with your family I will share what I have :). Thank you much.

Murrays of Maine

The little I know about the line I'm looking for is that they were from
MONTVILLE, WALDO COUNTY, Maine. The possible connection I have is Gooden
MURRAY. He married a Lucretia (sp?) Cary and they had a son Gooden JR.
After that, I know nothing more about them except that he is supposed to
have died in June of 1834. Gooden JR was born abt 1835. I'd like to find
out when in 1835. My missing ancestor ________Murray, is supposed to have
been born in 1838, also to Lucretia Cary MURRAY, but that's well after when
the sr. Gooden was supposed to have died.

I've also found marriage intentions for Lucretta MURRAY and Leonard FOSTER
filed in Massachusetts in 1836. Very confusing.

Lastly, Gooden MURRAY's parents were Jonathan and Elizabeth of Montville.

Thank you again

Debbie Cox

Nevada

Daniel Murray

I'm trying to verify my ancestor Daniel Murray's information. Daniel was the son of Daniel Murray a Loyalist on Long Island. He is not the Loyalist that commanded troops and went to Nova Scotia as this Murray was from Massachusetts. My information is that he is from Huntington. I have a baptism in the First Church 8 Jul 1733 for James Murray (poossibly his father}, baptism for Daniel 14 Sep 1735 and marriage of Elizabeth to John Abrams 7 Aug 1738. Some records show Margaret Ferguson is Daniel's wife. What is the source? I'm not sure is Elizabeth is Daniel's wife. Daniel married Mary Butler, NY records. Some trees show a marriage to Marie Genevieve Frechette from Quebec but she died in 1753 and Daniel's children are born 1775 and later. I believe that she may be the wife of the Daniel that went to Nova Scotia Daniel Murray 1775-1806. Daniel Murray 1735 to aft 1776. Daniel Murray 1710-1736. Any info is appreciated.

Seeking Information regarding Murray's of East Greenwich, Rhode Island

I am looking for more information about the Murray’s from East Greenwich, Rhode Island. My grandfather was Bernard Murray b. 1898) of East Greenwich, Rhode Island . He had two children: Bernard Murray and Thomas Murray with Gladys Cook. I know they lived in East Greenwich and in California (maybe 1940 for a brief period in San Bernadino??). My grandfather owned or worked in a drug store in East Greenwich, Rhode Island (it may have been called Murray's??). My great grandfather was Luke Murray b. about 1825 in Roscommon, Ireland and died on June 7, 1898 in East Greenwich, RI. Luke's wife was Ann Kelly also of Roscommon Ireland. I would love to hear from someone who has more information about any of my ancestors I would love to hear from you.

I think I've found a collateral line for Thomas KNOWLES & Ann MURRAY, m. 15 May 1830, Lancaster, Lancashire. Witnesses for their Catholic marriage at St. Peter's were Hugh & Ann MURRAY. Thomas KNOWLES & Ann MURRAY were witnesses for the St. Peter's Catholic marriage of Hugh MURRAY & Ann KNOWLES, 30 Nov. 1829. Both couples were also married at St. Mary's Church of England, Lancaster.

Census of 1841, Factory Hill, W. Derby, Lancaster, Lancashire, MURRY, Hugh, 30; Ann, 25; Robert, 3; Margaret, 3 mos. All were labeled yes for born in the county. However...

Census of 1851, St. Ann, Lancaster, Lancashire, MURRAY
Hugh, 44; b. Whitehaven, Cumberland. Wf. & ch. b. Lancaster, Lancashire: Ann, 39; Robert, 12; Margretta, 10; Henri(e)tta, 6.

St. Anne's, Dist. 14, Lancaster, Lancashire, 1861, MURRAY
Hugh, 54, b. Whitehaven, Cumberland. Wf. & ch. b. Lancaster, Lancashire, Ann, 49; Robert, 22; Margretta, 20.

Hugh MURRAY, 60, d. First Quarter, 1867, Lancaster.
Ann MURRAY, 58, d. First Quarter, 1871, Lancaster.

Does anyone have information on the ancestry of the Ann KNOWLES who married Hugh MURRAY or the Ann MURRAY who married Thomas KNOWLES, Lancaster, 1830?

Also researching William Murray and wife Martha Elliot. Have you discovered anything significant since you last posted? I noticed his 1901 Census said he came to Canada in 1831, so he must have come with parents, right? How about the record you found in Chester, anything else discovered along that line? Researching George W. Murray and his descendants. He moved to Boston, and his brother Robert ended up there for a few years, and Barbara was married there as well. Well exchange info?

Mary Elizabeth Murray (Hanna); b. 1776; Canada

Mary Elizabeth Murray came to Michigan around 1901, becoming a US citizen in 1908. She married Thomas Pressley Hanna, and they had two children (Mignon [1911], and Thomas Clyde [1912]). The Murray family is thought to have originated in Berks Co, PA, but relocated to Canada because of Tory sentiments.

I am seeking any information anyone may have as to the parents of Mary. There are many possible entries in the Canadian Census that are possibly the Mary Elizabeth who marries Thomas Hanna of Michigan, but I've not been able to make a positive identification.

Mary appears to have immigrated from Canada to Michigan about 1901, becoming a US citizen in 1908. I've not yet found marriage records for Mary & Thomas.

Family legend says the ancestors of Mary were Tories from Berks Co, PA, and went to Canada as refuges from the Revolution.

Any help would be appreciated.

Stan

If this is the African American portion of our family, Names such Nathaniel, Nathan, Onah, Elizabeth, Redrick also known as ":Deac", Harmon, John & Leonard would be present. You can see more of this family ancestry tree @ancestor.com and search on my "jmurray17186" member account.

If this is the part our SlaveMaster's family, Names such as William C., Joseph, Robert, Elizabeth, Nathaniel, James, John, Nathan would be prevalent.

This family was primarily in Suggs Creek, Wilson County, Tennessee having come from VA and had elements that were migrating to IL during this period.

If not thanks for putting the information out there so that the proper Murray family ancestors can reclaim it.
I am a direct descendant of Andrew Murray and Bridget Murray O'Donnell. I live in Seattle near where their daughter Ann Murray is buried near her husband Michael Henry Donlan. I am interested in the Civil War record of Patrick. I would be interested in whatever information you have. Thanks.

Irish Murrays in Chicago from 1870 on

There are several branches of Murray families in that neighborhood.

Our ancestors are to be found in 3rd Ward in 1870. Same neighborhood where the Chicago fire started:

Patrick Murray is listed as in 3rd Ward, age 23, as a day laborer. Born Ireland in 1847. Native of county Waterford

Delia Tracey (on the census mispelled as Devia) was listed as domestic servant, age 23, in 3rd Ward working for an Albert J. Averill family. Born Ireland in about 1847. Listed as Bridget Murray in subsequent census and other records.

They married in 1872 in Holy Family Parish. They had the following children:
Thomas, 1873 deceased when a child
Daniel, 1877
James, 1880
Mary, 1882
Catherine (Kittie) 1883
William, 1884
Thomas, 1886

Eventually, many of these Murrays ended up in Proviso township, Berkeley/Hillside area.

I have a tree on these particular Murrays. If anyone would be interested... would like more to fill in the blanks of course. Esp. on the Tracey family.
