Name: Musick, Irene
Date: Aug 22 1969
Source: Plain Dealer; Cleveland, Ohio Necrology File, Reel #138.
Notes: A memorial service for Mrs. Irene Musick, native of Cleveland and nationally known for her award-winning ceramics, will be on Aug. 31, at the Unitarian-Universalist Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Mrs. Musick, 55, died July 28. Delay between the time of her death and services was caused because she donated her body to the University of Colorado Medical College for cancer research.
She won first prize with a stoneware vase at the annual May art show here in 1949.
The vase was purchased by William M. Milliken, then director of the Cleveland Museum of Art, who donated it to the museum as a memorial to his mother.
Would also like the source of your info, and about the Wales connection. We have an extensive database of data about Musicks in USA. Also, looking for any male line Musick from the area of Soham, Cambridgeshire, England to assist in DNA testing to connect English Musicks with USA. Please help

Pictures of Music family

I have a Music family photo book that belonged to Letitia L Music, with a lot of great pictures, but I don't know any of the people. Some of the people mentioned in the book include twins (Jack and Bob), it is a picture of them as babies. A picture marked Mother, who looks to be full blooded Indian. Several pictures of Indians dressed in authentic Indian clothing. A letter about the night Eula May Melvin passed away, that was written by her aunt Mrs. M. E. Oden. A E Melvin was Eula's father. A picture of Dick age 12 in 1955-1956.
Letitia is my GG Sallies sister. Not sure how I ended up with the album.

If any of this sounds familiar, please contact me.
Brandi
Gutchknb@yahoo.com

Re: Jonathan Musick b. abt 1795 m. Elizabeth ?

I'm also trying to find the identify of this Elizabeth. It seems she was born in Tennesse in 1780 and she died there in 1850. From family lore passed down all the way from my father to me I have been told that there is Cherokee in our ancestry. I wonder if Elizabeth was actual a cherokee woman. It seems quite possible unless she can be proven as a daughter of one one the Musick brothers. I have her listed as Elizabeth Musick and she is married to John Musick born 1776 from Thomas Roy Musick. The line goes back to george as well, but it's the women in my fathers side that just seem to spring up during this time frame? Has anyone else heard these stories? Any factual data to confirm or deny that Elizabeth was actually a Cherokee woman?

Nancy, 1908-1990, d/o Dock MUSICK & Nora WINCHELL
Nancy MUSICK was born 21 Jan 1908, in Edmonson Co., KY, to Nora WINCHELL & Dock W. MUSICK. Nancy died 16 Jun 1990, in Jefferson Co., KY.

Nancy married first, probably about 1926, to Elmer VINCENT, b. 1906, Edmonson Co., KY. I have not found their marriage record, but Elmer died 29 Apr 1927, before Nancy bore any children.

A young, widowed, Mrs. Nancy Vincent, married on 12 Aug 1927 to Dewey HOLLAND, b. ca. 1907, Edmonson Co., KY. They had three children, Juner (Dewey Jr.), Richard Burnell, and Ruth Evelyn. Both boys died very young.

Nancy remarried by 1936 to Ertie BROWNING, and had the last three children that you mentioned.

Dock was the son of James MUSICK and Sarah MEREDITH. James was the son of Jonathan MUSICK and Laura JONES. Jonathan was the probable son of John MUSICK, b. 1760-1776, NC. Research determine the ancestry of John MUSICK remains ongoing, with no definitive results at this time.

Contact me by email if you would like to have a more complete ancestry of Nancy MUSICK. I will be happy to share information with you.

Bill Vincent
WmRVincent(at)aol(dot)com

...

The Reading Eagle, Coal Region News section, Jan. 27, 1922

FOUND FROZEN TO DEATH

Pottsville, Jan. 27 - With the temperature 8 degrees below zero, John Musick, of Forestville, was found frozen to death with his head in two feet of shallow water. His feet inclined upward on a coal bank as though Musick had fallen into the water from the bank and could not extricate himself. He was 54 years of age and is survived by six children.

[Note: This Forestville is probably in Schuylkill County.]

I am looking for any lineage of Richard Daniel Musick Sr.He was born about 1918. He married my grandmother, Lois Southern (possibly adopted from Buckner's Children Home as Lois Lois Southam) in about 1944 and was remarried to Oleta Hawkins. I have names of their children but nothing to go on with him. Thanks for your help ahead of time.

Hi, I don't have Jonathan in my (possibly incomplete) list of children of Abraham and Sarah. Also, none of the children in my list were born after 1769, or in North Carolina. No mention of North Carolina at all that I can find, Abraham and Sarah (and most or all of their children) were born in Virginia and died in Missouri. Sorry. If I come across any other info I'll pass it along.

do you have a list of Abraham and Sarah's children? I am trying to go back from an Abraham b. 1800 d. 1833 married to a Mary Ann Lindsey. His father was Jonathan Musick and Elizabeth?. Jonathan was born in 1776 North Carolina. I believe he died in Edmonson co. Kentucky. His father may have been Abraham Musick and Sarah Lewis. I believe they came out of Virginia. anyway any help would be great!
Thanks, Jackie

I just responded to another post of yours, but this one just reminded me of something else.

I do remember Aunt Ruth. She & my father used to call one another on the telephone. My father was a very private man who rarely spoke of his youth, but he loved his sister Ruth very much.

James Harrison Browning

I found it of great interest when you mentioned oral tradition as saying Dora Thompson was Indian (Native American). I'm trying to find the link that ties my family's story that our Thompson were mixed native american. Have you discovered anything new on Dora?

Hi this is a reply to David flenor and Carla Flenor. I am the great grandaughter of Elsie. I do not know anything much at all about her family. I was told that her mother was whole cherokee indian. I don't know if this is true. I was also told that people called Elsie vernie becase her middle name was Laverne, but I am finding out so far this is not true. I went to uncle Charley's funeral in the early 70's but I don't know any information. I was told that Elberts second wife was a Deal. Any information that you can give me on them I would be greatful. Also I would love to know what Elberts heritage is. Such as Irish or what?
