Angela: I'm related to Joan through her marriage to John Washbourne. I have a genealogy for her back to 547. She's related to most of the Kings of Scotland and Kings and Queens of England and France. Do you have a specific question?

Anne

I am looking for any information on the link between a Martha Mitton b.1809 and the Mytton family at Halston Hall.

Martha married Benjamin Little in 1829 and from their son Thomas I am descended.

I believe Martha's parents were George Mitton and Martha Williams, who married at St Chad's Shrewsbury in 1789, but I have no further information on them.

Any help much appreciated.

I'm on noeu-aja@t8o.org which is rather moreconvenient than this...

Regards Ant

Sir, forgive the reply, but I found no other way to contact you through these boards. It was while researching the Price family name from Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales, that I came across your name. In 2000 I contacted the family Gerald Price Williams of Holyhead, whose family Price had hailed from Holyhead. I hope you don't mind me contacting you, but it's possible you might hold the key to some information on the family that might help me piece together what Mr Gerald Williams had explained in his letter so long ago. Respectfully, Maurice

Your grandfather is indeed listed on the roll of No. 10 Company of the Imperial Camel Corps. His service number is 3112. There is also a F. W. Mytton listed. Is this his brother?
The No. 10 Company was part of 300 men of the Imperial Camel Corps that briefly joined Lawrence in a raid on the railway station at Mudawara. See the book Imperial Camel Corps by Geoffrey Inchbald that has a chapter on their involvement with Lawrence.
Joe Berton
Oak Park, Illinois

Hello All -

My Grandad Thomas Edwin Mytton served with the 10th Company Imperial Camel Corps during the Great War. Apart from the basic Medal Rolls I have no other information. I believe he was with Lawrence but that's about it. Any others about with Camel Corps ancestors?

- Regards Ant

Mytton - coat of arms (Reply to Mary)

There is a small copy of the Mytton coat of arms on the fly leaf of Nimrod's "Life of John Mytton) or at least in the two versions I own. It consists of a ram's (or sheep's) head above a quatered shield with an open winged bird in the N.W. and S.E. quaters and a flower head in the other quarters. Below is a scroll effect with the motto "MORS ITER VITAE" (the AE of VITAE being written as one letter in the latin form). Mary, if you send me a fax number I could fax you a copy of the fly leaf. One version is in partial colour but will not come out well due to poor condition (age) the other in black and white although of the same period is in good clear condition.
Rgds.
Michael P. Mytton Smith
