Hi--I am descended from Edgar A. Needham through his second marriage to Sarah Smith, so that makes us half 4th cousins or something (!) and I just wondered what you found in going through your family papers. We have a nice photo of Edgar and I've found various items on the internet about his anti-slavery efforts but would love to hear more. Thanks, Alice

My grandmother who married into the Nee family (my grandfather Charles Roy Nee was the son of John W Nee and Ellen Francis (Needham) Nee had many pictures of both sides of her family and his dating back to the 1890's. The biggest problem I have is identifying people in them. She also was the unofficial keeper of their graves so around every holiday my parents and later myself and brother would take her to the several graveyards which led me to my interest in my roots. Bette has been in touch with me and other relatives of the Needhams and now we are digging for someone from the Sarah (Needham) Gallagher line to complete our links to living relatives. From there we want to dig into why they came to the states and from where in Ireland they came from. It's nice to find another decsendant of Michael and Mary Needham.

Just looking at all the pictures on your tree. How great to have so many. I was especially surprised to see my bro-in-law (Robert Winfield Wyatt)as well as his brother Ken and 2 cousins. I have seen all but the one of the 4 soldiers and wonder how you came about having these. My sister, Mary Kelly Wyatt was doing research before she had a computer so know they didn't come from her. It's absolutely great that you have them in your tree.....just wondering. You have such computer smarts to do all this. I have a lot to learn. Re: Lucy Woodbury. My Mom and Lucy were corresponding for years but don't believe they ever met.

As I mentioned previously I'll get out my printed copies and give you more info. For now I'll tell you what I know from the top of my head. Mike Needham married Mary Ann Conroy and they had 10 children. 7 boys, 3 girls. They were: Gus, Walter, Ray, George, Francis, Robert and John. The gals: Mary (my Mom), Ellen (nickname of Lala) and Martha. My Mother was the 1st daughter and the 2nd child and lived the longest. She died in 1984 at the age of 97. They were all born in St. Paul, MN and most died in MN. John passed in Florida. Francis in No. Calif. and Rober in Bellingham, WA. Walter was in the 1st WW, George was a deputy sheriff in St. Paul, Ray worked for the RR and Gud worked for Brown & Bigelow (famous for their exclusive rights to print pictures of the Dionne Quintuplets (sp?). Whew, that's it in a nut shell. Hope this helps you to get a good start on your search. Later, BB

I'm thrilled to hear from you and to hear what you know about the Needhams. My Mother was in contact with Lucy Woodbury who lived in NE., I think she was a post mistress in Center, NE at that time. I still have a note sent from her on my graduation from high school. I also had a picture of Bertie Webster's daughter from a time my Mother visited her in WA/OR, prior to WW2. I subscribed to Ancestry for a yr. or so and have printed out most of my findings so will have to dig them out to look at them again. I'm still not too computer savvy but will try to get the facebook site.
I have to tell you again how happy I am to hear from you and hope we can track down more of our history. Thanks so much for checking Ancestry and getting back to me so soon. Til later,
Bette (Kelly) Brookshire

This is great info that we have found a descendant of Michael. He had 4 sisters, Bridget Theresa,(whose great granddaughter I've been working with and lives in IL. and married a Woodbury), Mary (she married a Webster) who came west to WA then to OR and also has a g. granddaughter that is also working with us and lives in OR. My g. grandmother Ellen was the youngest and married John W Nee my g. grandfather. The last sister was Sarah (who married a Gallagher) and from what we know she died in 1909 in WI and her descendants are still in that area but we have not been able to track any of them down as of yet. If you are on facebook we have site up a closed group for the exchange of info and as a meeting place so all can find out who their extended family is.
Go to: https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/155318521222909/ to check it out and request to be included. My email address is: paulnetgallant-nee@msn.com and I live in Tacoma, WA
Hope to hear from you soon and I'd love to share what I have and know with you and visa versa.

And bye the way Anthony and Bridget Needham are buried about 4 miles from my house. They came to WA sometime in the 1890's and lived here till their deaths.

I know it's been awhile since your wrote but just got your msg. today. I've done some searching on Ancestry for a year and have come to a dead end so have been "resting" for a time. My grandfather is the Michael Needham (sone of Anthony and Bridget)and the father of my Mother. My sister & I learned something about the Needhams. Anthony and Bridget lived in St. Paul, MN when my Mother was young. We knew Grandpa Needham had 4 sisters but never heard a word about a brother until my search uncovered him. Could be he was the rebel of the family and no one spoke of him???? I did find that he moved West and became a miner and married. One of the sisters married a brewer and lived in MA. I'm wondering your relationship with the Needhams and would love to hear more from you.
Elizabeth Brookshire
Marshall, MN.

Margaret, I always believed that your mother came from Tobertynan, Trim County Meath.Perhaps her family migrated from Galway to Meath. Your Mother was very kind to us when we were young. She used post packages to us in Kildare. She included many story books as in Willaim, William again etc. Her Kindness will always be greatly remembered and cherished. I recall your father visiting us in Tiermohan when he came to Ireland to visit following surgery. He was staying with his brother Robert & his Wife Christina ( Ciss) at Stacumney in Celbridge County Kildare. I have photographs taken of you with your mother at My Grandmothers home in Tiermohan near Kilcock. My Mother Lucy died in 1992. aged 74 Yrs. Roy.

Hi,

I think we may be related - my grandfather was James Needham of Marion Street, Dunmore (Scranton area).

He had a sister named Pauline. He died around 1977 - he was married to Camilla Stull Needham. My mother and older cousins always said I look like Pauline. I've never seen a picture of her, so I don't know.

My mom was the daughter of James & Camilla, also named Camilla.
Suzanne Ryder Jaworowski

Where are your Needhams located. Mine are in Texas but originally migrated from Broken Arrow Walton Ga. Kyle's parents were Enoch Needham 1798-1859 and Lucretia Willingham 1803-1881. Do you know where the middle name Grundy came from? It seem like it should be a family name. there is a story of how Enoch left Georgia to go to Texas and left his wife behind because she didn't want to go to Texas he later came back to Georgia and she continued to refuse to go with him so he gave everything they had there to her .

From your posts, I believe we are researching the same Needham line. My grandmother, Jessie Needham Carruba was a sister to your Carl Jackson Needham, I believe. Reply back and we can exchange contact information. I recall my parents talking about Maggie Needham, and a Gertrude Needham. I recall meeting Gertrude Needham many years ago when I started doing this research. Just now getting back into it as my kids are about grown and my interest has returned. Would love to talk.

I think we may be talking about 2 different Kyle Grundy Needhams. My great grandfather (b1867, d 1910) was married to Cornelia Wade/Waid.
