Dr. FRANCIS NEFF: Married at Michaelfeld, Germany in 1710, to Barbara Eby, emigrated from the Bonfeld\DÃ¼rhen area of Germany, arrived Germantown (Philadelphia) 1719 where he remained until 1728. Moved to Lancaster Co., PA. on the Conestoga Creek south of Dr. Hans Heinrich Neff's  lands. Naturalized 1729. Descendants found in Lancaster City; in Strasburg Township; a line migrated to Utah with Brigham Young, and to York Co., PA Mennonite branch migrated to Ontario, Canada in the late 1700's. Mennonite. [A2]. Dr. HANS HEINRICH NEFF: Arrived Philadelphia 1717, settled in Lancaster Co., then Chester Co., PA by 1722 on the Conestoga Creek north of Dr. Francis Neff's lands. Doctor, farmer, and miller. Naturalized 1729. Son John Henry Neff moved to Frederick Co., MD in 1746 and in 1749 to Shenandoah Co. then Frederick Co., VA. Later descendants migrated to Clark Co., OH. Mennonite family. [B]. HENRY & BARBARA NEFF; Arrived Sept 1717. First settled in Whitemarsh Twp., now Montgomery Co., PA; by 1723 settled in what is now Manor Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. then Hempfield Twp.; wp 1750. Mennonite. Family lines migrated to Huntingdon Co., PA and Preble Co., OH. Manor Township Neff's of today descend from this family. See NEFF NEWS May 1996. Updated 5-98
[C]. MICHAEL NEFF; Arrived Philadelphia 11 Sept. 1728 from Michaelfeld, Germany on the ship JAMES GOODWILL, Lutheran. Two branches of this family migrated to Hardy Co., VA, now WV and later into Ohio. See NEFF NEWS May and Sept 2002, Feb, May and Sept 2003. Updated 9-03
[D]. JACOB & CATHERINE NEFF; Arrived Aug - Sept 1717 Philadelphia with Dr. Hans Heinrich Neff [A2], Henry Neff [B], and John Martin Funk Family. Settled first Chester Co., PA, possibly Hellem township by 1736 and is the first Neff found in Frederick Co., MD by 1740. Church of the Brethren.

[E]. JACOB NAFF E-1; First appeared in Lancaster Co., PA, Strasburg Twp. in 1769; Possible brother of SEBASTIAN NEFF [W415]. [F]. HANS CHRISTIAN NEFF; Arrived Philadelphia 19 Sept 1743 on the Ship LYDIA; Settled Lancaster County, PA, Lampeter Twp. Moved to Dauphine (Lebanon Co.) in 1752; Mennonite. Descendants include Neffs of Ronks, PA.
[G & P]. NEFF'S of Canton ZÃ¼rich, Wallisellen\Kloten, arrived Phila, 29 May 1735, on the Ship MERCURY. Additional family members arrived 30 Aug 1743, on the -FRANCIS & ELIZABETH. Swiss Reformed Church. Includes the NÃ¤f line who were very early settlers in Tennessee spelling their name NAVE. [H]. JACOB [H1] and RUDOLPH [H2] NEFF; Brothers from Zell in Canton ZÃ¼rich, Switzerland. Arrived 11 Sep 1749, Philadelphia, aboard ship PRISCILLA; Settled Frankford, near Germantown, PA. Members of the Germantown Reformed Church. Stayed in Philadelphia. Merchants. Descendants migrated to Baltimore, MD and Cincinnati, OH. Family subject of a 1881 book by Elizabeth Clifford Neff. [K]. CORNELIUS NEFFE; will dated 27 Apr 1711, proven Staten Island 1 May 1712. Wife Aichte, children Johan,
Ariantie, Katharine, Martie, and Sarah. May have come from Neuwied, Palatines in Holland in 1709. This family appears to have settled in the Mohawk Valley of New York State. Dutch Reformed. Also a GEORG FRIDERICH NEFF; New York City, NY 1710. A JÃ¹rg Fredrig Nef with 1 child was in a party of Palatines in Holland in 1709 from Neuwied, Germany. Appeared on Gov. Hunter's 1710/11 ration list at New York City. Father and son died by 1710.

JOHN NEFF; Centre Co.; PA, Howard Twp., Bald Eagle Valley by 1793; Possible son of JOHN NEFF & Catherine GERBER B57; Mennonite; Migrated to Centre Co., PA, at the same period members of the A-line went to Canada and the B-line migrated to nearby Huntingdon Co., PA. Children appear to marry Mennonites wives. Updated 5-96
[M]. ULRICH NEFF; Feb. 1739 Immigrant from Switzerland, Zell; Arrived Philadelphia the Ship JAMAICA GALLEY; Son Bernard arrived 22 Nov 1752 aboard the ship PHOENIX. [S]. CONRAD NÃ„F from Canton ZÃ¼rich, Zwillikon (Albisrieden) formerly [P1]; (m1) to Anna Barbara Kleiner, (m2) to Elsbeth Haller. Conrad died enroute to Philadelphia on the Francis & Elizabeth. Accompanied by 3 sons, Heinrich, Hans Heinrich, and Jacob. Heinrich, [old P13] settled in Baltimore (Carroll) Co, MD. Reformed Church. Descendants migrated to Allegany Co., MD and Belmont Co., OH. [T]. WILLIAM (Nesse) NEFF & MARY CORLISS: Earliest known American Neff family, they are found in Colonial New England. William was possibly born at Newbury, Essex Co., MA, in 1639, family later moved to Haverhill. Early descendants of this family moved to Rhode Island, Connecticut, and to north western New England. [W]. JOHN SEBASTIAN NEFF; Philadelphia Co., PA, Springfield twp., shoemaker and innkeeper, wife Anna Barbara, had one son Jacob. Belonged to St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Germantown where both are buried. Immigrated from BrÃ¶tzingen, Germany 1744. See NEFF NEWS Feb 1996 and Feb 2002. Updated 2-02

Michael was accompanied by his three unmarried brothers, Lorentz, Abraham, and John (Johannes). Settled in Lycoming County, PA, Blooming Grove, near Williamsport. Church of the Brethren. [AB]. JOHANNES/JEAN JOHN NEFF (1813-1889) & Wilhelmine Klehe. Arr. New Orleans, LA, 16 Dec. 1851 aboard the ship "Duc De Brabant" from Klein-Karlbach, District of Frankenthal, Bavaria, Germany. Lived first in St. Clair Co., IL, settled in St. Paul, MN. Naturalized 10 Oct. 1853. Arr. with a Mennonite hymn book. Baptist Church in MN. See NEFF NEWS Feb 95

[AD]. ELISA BERTHA NAEF: widow of Kaspar Naegeli, born Buchenegg, Canton ZÃ¼rich, Switzerland, 20 Feb 1874; Arr. America 13 May 1903 aboard the S.S. Southwark with her son Jakob. Settled in Salt Lake City, Utah.
[AE]. JOHANNES, JOHANN PETER, and ANNA ELISABETHA NEFF: Arr New York 1847 aboard the bark "Lewis" from Gadernheim, Starkenburg, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany. Parents: Johann Peter Neff and Rosina Magdalena Goetzinger remained. Children settled in Hancock, Hardin and Crawford Co., Ohio. Evangelical Church. New 5-96
[AF]. AUGUSTUS NEFF: Emigrated from Baden, Germany, about 1832 and settled on the east side of Cleveland in Cuyahoga County, OH. Wife's name Francis. Son Francis H. GEORG FRIEDRICH NEFF: Born 1792, emigrated from Illingen, WÃ¼rttenberg, Germany, May 1832 with his second wife Eberhardina Catharina Reichard and 2 children by his first wife, Elisabeth Barbara Ernst. Settled in Richland Twp., Marion Co., OH, in 1839. Older son, Tobias Friederich settled in Clark Co., IL and younger son Johnn Christian settled in Logan Twp., Auglaize Co., OH in 1858 Members of the German Zion (Methodist) Church. Possibly came with the family of Gottfried Neff. Possible Geo. F. Neff, farmer, who arrived at Baltimore, MD aboard the ship Weser on 30 Sept 1832. Updated 2-03
[AJ]. Johann Friedrick Neff: Born 1791 Degerbach, WÃ¼rttemberg, Germany, married to Jakobine Rosina Rost, immigrated to Lancaster PA in 1817, Lutheran, moved to Erie Co., NY near Buffalo abt 1825. Moved to Erie Co., PA by 1830 where daughter Susanna was born. Declared "intend" on 19 Aug 1840 & "naturalized" 4 Oct. 1844 in the Court of Common Pleas at Erie Co., PA. Declaration included date of birth and year of arrival. Oldest son Frederick Neff moved back to Lancaster Co., PA and married (1) Johannah Caskey abt 1843. Family lived in Lampeter Twp. Their son Aldus F. Neff lived in E. Lampeter Twp. and were Lutheran. Second marriage to Catherine Meck, Mennonite. New 4-04
[AN]. John Martin Neff: Born in France, possibly Alsace, appears to have immigrated with his wife and family first to Boston, MA in fall of 1841 or 1842, then moved to Lorain Co., OH, Grafton Twp. by 1844. Three members of the family served in the Union Army in War Between the States. Catholic. New 9-03.
