Efrain "Frank" Negron

"Devoted husband, father, and grandfather" Efrain "Frank" Negron, age 73, of Erie, died Monday, May 21, 2012 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born September 18, 1938 in Utuato, Puerto Rico, a son of Josalina Galazo Negron of Utuato, Puerto Rico and the late Luis Negron. He lived in Erie most of his life. He enjoyed gardening and his church. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one brother, Luis Negron. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen F. Collins Negron of Erie; three daughters, Barbara A. Stoops and Maria Diego of Erie, Lilia Suroviec and husband John of Clymer, N.Y. and Tina M. Nusser and husband Greg of Cleveland, Ohio; six brothers, Juan Jose, Jose Juan, Miguel, Tato , Tono, and Israel Medina; five sisters, Hilda, Sara, Annie, Minerva and Carmen all of Puerto, Rico, and one granddaughter, Yvonne Kimmy and husband Ken. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren Stephanie and Dimitri Kimmy and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie, Pa., on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Service on Friday at Erie County Memorial Gardens Chapel, 7880 Edinboro Rd., at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank AseraCare Hospice for the special care given to Frank during his illness. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

My fathers name was Albert Colon negron. he was born 1918. In Puerto Rico. He moved to New York as a young man. His mother was Rose Negron and father was Felix Colon. Besides my mother which he married in 1941 and divorced, he had other marriages with children. From the second marriage he had a daughter named Elsie and a son named Johnny. My father was Miguel Angel Negron. His first marriage was to my mother, Hilda. They had 4 daughters together: Rosalyn, Sylvia, Doris, and Olga Negron. He remarried after after placing us in a Catholic Home for Children in Brooklyn, N.Y. I never got to know any of his relatives, and I believe that one or two of his sisters are still alive. Ida from Florida, and Carmen from New York. He owned a local grocery store in the 1970's. Anyone with information can contact me at the above email.

Hola, my name is David Negron. My father was one of 20 plus siblings born in Corozal. My main and current contact is Rafael (Rafy) Negron (tio) that lives in Bayamon. Every time I visit the island, he always takes me to the campo and we see whatever family we have left. He's the one that tells me stories of all of my Aunts and Uncles growing up there. Tal vez encontraremos que los Negrones de Barros y Corozal son familia, pero hasta este momento yo he encontrado que los Negrones de ambos lados de mi familia aparentemente vienen de Toa Alta, o por lo menos alli es adonde ellos bautizaron a sus ninos y segun los archivos son descritos como vecinos de Toa Alta. Aunque luego aparecen en Palmarejo, Abras y Dos Bocas.
Conosco de Frank, pues nos comunicamos y estuvimos de acuerdo en que tal vez no son familiares.

Saludos desde Puerto Rico. Cuanto me alegra saber que hay más personas en conocer sus origenes. Según el Censos, Jose Del Carmen Corredor Pagán y Josefa Rivera Rivera son los padres de Juana Ventura Corredor, natural de Orocovis (Barros). Ventura se casa con Dolores Negrón y procrean varios hijos: Gregoria, Francisco, Mateo, José y Juan Bautista.En el 1920 se trasladan al barrio Rincón de Cayey, dónde se concentra la mayor parte de la familia Corredor Pagán.
Juana Ventura fue prima de mi bis abuelo Esteban Corredor, quien vivió en el mismo barrio. La hermana de Esteban fue quien vivió en Corozal. Actualmente estoy haciendo la investigación genealógica y he llegado hasta el patrialca de la familia.
También hay otra persona buscando la misma información sobre la Familia Negrón Corredor. Su nombre es Frank Negrón cuyo email es fnegron44@hotmail.com.

Luis: That family you found in the 1910 census is my family. It is the only information I have on my grandfather. He is the Juan Francisco Negron. Do you speak English? I live in Florida and would love to speak to you about our possible family connection. Let me know Thanks Frank Negron

Para mi Dolores es el de Corozal, ya que el appellido Corredor, para mi es extrano, y hay mas familiares listado en la pagina.

Hi, I'm quite sure that I've never heard the name Corredor mentioned by any of the family, nor have I run across it. I just recently found Cheverez to be the second last name of my maternal great great grandfather, Juan Negron Cheverez. As I understand it, the Negrons are more from the Dos Bocas area (heading towards Orocovis), so it may be. It is not to say that the relationship doesn't exist, but if I run across anything, I will surely post it.

Ramona Marrero Garcia.
As yet I have not made any direct connections to other Negron Marreros. I'm sure there are, but by 1911 both Polonia & Juan had passed away. There is a Salvador Negron Marrero who reported her death to the registrar, but it doesn't say whether he is a brother-in-law, son or grandson.

Negron, 40, of Fort Meyers, Fla., died July 10 at Asadabad, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered at Konar, Afghanistan when insurgents attacked his unit with rifle and small arms fire. He was assigned to 426th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

Are you still searching for information for great grandfather Felix Negron Marrero?

Felix was my grandmother Albara's brother. This is what I have found while researching my family tree.

His father was Juan Negron Santiago and his mother was Maria del Pilar Marrero Rivera.

Juan Negron Santiago was born on February 4, 1855 and he died on November 16, 1926. His father was Jose Negron and his mother was Tomasa Santiago.

Maria del Pilar Marrero Rivera was born on October 12, 1869 and she died on February 6, 1949. Her father was Bartolo Marrero and her mother was Maria del Carmen Rivera.

My father, Temistocles Diaz Negron is the son of Angiolino Aristides Diaz Rijos and Albara Negron Marrero. He is one of 9 children!

I have no further information so if you have anything to add I would greatly appreciate it if you shared.

I am looking for any information on Maria Negron y Santiago born about 1882. In 1910 she lived in Maravilla, Las Marias, Puerto Rico. she was married to Ignacio Martir y Martir around 1903. Ignacio Martir y Martir was born around 1875.

They had the following children:

Juana Martir y Negron
Mercedes Martir y Negron
Adriana (Mariana) Martir y Negron

Sometime before 1920 Maria Negron y Santiago died. Her 3 daughters moved in with other people. At some point the daughters started using the surname spelling of Marty instead of Martir.

I would certainly say yes, there is a family connection, however, it is a bit difficult to put all the dots in place, as the connection is still missing. From Corozal, Toa Alta and Morovis, I would say that all Marreros, Negrons, Riveras, Rosados, Garcias and Nevarez are related. They really tried to keep their blood "pure" by intermarrying cousins with cousins. So if you're looking for a Negron Marrero, you have to know who the parents/grandparents or brothers and sisters are before you can say this one is directly related to me. You can try the other people listed on this thread as they too may be able to answer your questions.
